Hey captain, your weight lifting form is bloody awful and yes you are cheating

To be fair, the captain looks pretty strong for his age and seems to move around with ease.

That said his claims about ease in lifting weights is bullshit

Just look at his awful form in the link(the videos are after the two cancelled Youtube videos embedded links)

Any weaklings can move around heavy weights in a jerky uncontrolled motion depending on momentum to do the actual work. The tough part is to remain steady and have a controlled, mindful and smooth form and motion.

The captain fails in all fronts. The very fact that his devotees cant see this and admires him for these videos proves that they even more physically useless than him

  1. Sir,

Where is the video? I can't find it on his channel...or anywhere.

True on weightlifting. Consistency is key. Pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, etc., while simpler, also require proper posture. Posture is everything in the gym.

So are you a very muscly man IRL?

    Thanks.

  2. What's your take on deva-asura rivalry in later stage of vedic philosophy and Zoroastrianism? I am really interested in this divide. Ajit vadakayil's theory is interesting and out of this world but i think there is some truth hidden in his ramblings about King bali and vamana avtar.

I was reading Koenrad elst's post about monotheism in which he mentioned Battle of the ten kings and how the defeat of iranic tribes made them hate indra and vedic gods. I like this explanation,

-before Battle of the ten kings both sides pray to indra for victory

-iranic tribes lost and started hating indra for their defeat while rigveda thanked indra for helping the indian side

    Do you agree with this?

As usual u have put up some great posts ,Sir the greatest dis-service u do to ur blog is that u remain absent for long spells :) Hopefully PremChand,Iniyavel and others are also doing great.

I honestly worry that given capt's sloppy form and the hero worship sarrounding him, which even prevents his fans from pointing out his mistakes in weight training, have become a wrong combo that may well lead to some exercise related injuries for capt :) But ofcourse I hope and pray for the best of his health.

The first thing most people get wrong is that, weight lifting is not compulsory to strength, weight lifting exercises are more meant for muscular hypertrophy than strength.Infact many a weightlifter actually have poor functional and real-life strength .That is because the muscles and the brain get accustomed to bring out full strength only in gym setup, and not in a multidimensional manner.I hv seen weight trainers get beaten badly in arm wrestling or similar functional areas,by people who are into more functional training methods, even yoga exercises like Mayurasana etc.muscle size doesnt automatically convert to equivalent amount of strength.

YSV one more thing to ask from u. People nowadays claim karate is useless, too much traditional etc. But people actually dont learn karate anymore in the way it is meant to be learnt, and the way it has been taught through centuries.for example, karate has grappling techniques like jujitsu as well, but sport karate schools no more teach those ,because grappling is not allowed in karate competitions. what is ur opinion on karate as a practical art for the street fights?

    1. Indians in general are averse to any type of physical labor due to class consciousness. In America, you have used to have CEOs doing their own yards or chopping trees on their property. George W Bush was pretty handy with a chainsaw on his ranch. While Donald J Trump would often pitch in as a waiter or carry luggage in his hotels and casinos during rush hours and of course for promotional kicks. Barack Obama worked construction in New York City while attending Columbia.

Can one imagine an IIT boy working in a construction site part time? Where there is no dignity of labor , there will be no labor and the sorry results in physiques with pot bellies(like the the captains) and lethargic appearance are there for all to see.

What I find funny is that many gym equipment mimick farm ,yard and construction work but not optimally. Hence those working in those professions are stronger as you pointed out.

Karate, Judo , Jui Jitsu have lost much of their potency due to being commercialized. I tried taking Karate and Aikido for a few months but thought it pointless from a self defense perspective that it wont be applicable unless I learn it for a few years and even there it is doubtful. Now the instructor (a burly Malayalee Muslim) was quite qualified and studied for more than a decade in Japan but in the end he had considerable physical strength so his abilities in Karate were suspect as one doesnt know if he could have fought off attackers with his strength or technique.

Kalari is in even worse shape today that these , it is not much more than calisthenics and some grappling (which is quite effective though).

      Delete
    2. Ysv thanks s lot for the elaborate reply _/\_ actually what I feel is that ,the most effective form of karate is shotokan ,because it keeps the things simple and linear.but as u rightly pointed out, unless karate is learnt in the way Okinawan Masters originally taught it,the whole thing won't be effective to the casual practitioner. Few days back,I was reading an article on karate, where a Japanese master told how he mastered the art over a span of two decades and by daily practice, and how modern studio karatekas give only one day per week to practice :)

Actually in most real life self defence scenarios ,wrestling variants like kushti might come more handy ,because these give strength of a grizzly to the practitioner.but at the same time ,wrestling requires more dedication and daily workout, because it's largely about physical strength.

Infact Matt furey himself recommends wrestling to the new martial arts enthusiast.he says this from his personal experience of mastering a few striking and grappling arts.his opinion is that wrestling gives a kind of all round strength, which no art can give, and in the end,it's strength that matters ,unless u are a Bruce Lee ofcourse,in some striking art .

      Delete
    3. When it comes to brute strength, hardly any martial art comes to close to wrestling. Even boxers , karatekas and MMAs note this.

The school of karate I learnt was Seibukang. Whether Shotokan, Seibukang or any other school taught as recreational sports in dojos across the world, it is lacking potency. Now serious karate practitioners can snap baseballs as they are toothpicks but that takes more than a decade of practice.

When it comes to basic self defense, I believe in as little technique ,honor and heroics as possible. This is especially applicable to women. Just learn some disarming maneovers when gun or knife and then aim for the groin, shin ,neck or eyes and then run.

Thats the basis of krav maga and kali silat.

Unfortunately there are too many youth watched the Bourne movies and just want to grapple, block, improvise with magazines as nunchunks etc in a fight till the end of time :-)

    4. Ysv

Infact even after all his bragging on the lethal kalari used by 200 stranded rishis of the past,he himself is still lifting the weight, albeit in sloppy and dangerous form :P probably he knows that his kalari is only limited to his online blog,it can't be used outside effectively :)

But in general ,coming to exercise philosophy,I always recommend highrep body weight exercising over weight training.mastery of bodyweight gives unmatched real strength.but it is a tough thing to do.lifting a few dumbbells is always easier than say,a thousand Hindu squats daily ,like they do in akhadas just as a warm-up.

Infact most trainers underestimate the strength legs can give to the upper body ,hence they don't follow leg workouts that much.

      Delete
    5. Ysv

Forgot to write this ,penkak silat and Kali are superb martial arts.imfact silat has some of the best practical techniques as u said.the problem with krav maga is that ,unless u are training effectively as per the manuals of Israeli army training module,u are most likely learning some diluted form of krav maga.that is the only issue.but same can be said for the hugely popular shotokan karate as well. Unless u are learning it traditionally from an Okinawan master ,u are probably not even learning the original thing .

  4. SOMEBODY ASKED ME

WHY DID YOU PUT A VIDEO OF YOURSELF DOING BICEPS CURLS WITH 25 KG DUMB BELLS?

IS IT TO BOAST ABOUT YOUR BRUTE STRENGTH?

OH BLIMEY-- NOW I HAVE TO LET GO ANOTHER OF MY LEADERSHIP SECRETS !

IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO PROVE YOU ARE BETTER THAN YOUR TEAM IN THE BRAINS DEPT .. PEOPLE JUST DONT ACCEPT IT..

BUT IT IS VERY EASY TO PROVE THAT YOUR ARE FASTER THAN SOME ONE IN A SPRINT OR STRONGER IN A GYM...

MAN IS STILL AN ANIMAL --ALBEIT A SOCIAL ONE

WHEN YOU PROVE YOU ARE STRONGER THAN SOMEONE --HE HAS NO PROBLEMS IN ACCEPTING YOU ARE BETTER THAN HIM IN THE BRAINS DEPT..

    EXAMPLE:

A BRIT USED TO COME IN OUR GYM.. A VERY STRONG FELLOW-- TALLER THAN ME, HIS BICEPS WERE TWICE THE SIZE OF MINE , HE WAS ONE YEAR YOUNGER.

ONCE OR TWICE I HAD A CONVERSATION WITH HIM, HE GAVE ME THE FEELING THAT HE THINKS HE IS BETTER THAN ME IN THE BRAINS DEPT..

    I DO EXPERIMENTS ..

I NOTICE THAT HE DID CURLS ON THE 25 KG DUMB BELLS - AND BEFORE DOING THAT HE TOOK OUT TWO HANDKERCHIEFS TO WRAP IT AROUND THE " UNUSED HENCE SHARP " KNURLED STEEL HANDLE..

HE DID NOT HAVE HIS OWN GYM GLOVES WHICH COVERED THE FINGERS TOO ( BRUISING DIE TO SKIN GETTING SCRAPED OFF ) ..

    http://ajitvadakayil.blogspot.com/2018/06/dumb-bells-challenge-real-thing-capt.html

IT JUST PROVED HE WAS SERIOUS-- HE WOULD KEEP THE DUMB BELLS DOWN ONLY IF HIS BICEPS OR BACK HURT--NOT BECAUSE HIS PALM SKIN WAS HURTING ( THE WAY OTHER PRETENDED ).

WHEN I DID THE 25 KG DUMB BELLS CURLS , I BROUGHT MY OWN HANDKERCHIEFS TO WRAP AROUND THE HANDLE.

SO ONE DAY WHEN HE FINISHED ON THE 25 KG DUMBELLS --I ASKED HIM "CAN I TAKE IT " AND STARTED WRAPPING MY CLOTH PIECES .. HE WAS NOW WATCHING ME VIA THE MIRROR.

I DID TWICE OF WHAT HE DID ON HALF THE TIME..

WHEN I LOOKED AT HIS FACE , IT WAS RED-- HE WAS EMBARRASSED ..

THEN MY YOUNGER SON DID THE MACHINES HE USUALLY DOES-- PUTTING ALL PINS AT HIGHEST NOTCH.. MY SON IS 1/3 OF HIS AGE AND HE WEIGHS 20 KGS MORE THAN HIM..

HE AVOIDED THOSE MACHINES LIKE THE PLAGUE.. I HAD CRAMPED HIS COCKY STYLE

THIS IS NOT A STUPID ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE --- OR A CHOOTIYA PADMAN CHALLENGE LET ALL THESE BODY BUILDERS LET THEM TAKE ME ON-- ON 25 KG DUMB BELLS GAAND MEIN TATTI HAI TOH KARKE DEKH-- BE READY FOR A MONSTER BABY .

ALL MY DETRACTORS HAVE FALLEN BY THE WAY SIDE TODAY.. PEOPLE DONT ARGUE ANYMORE--WHEN I SAY THIS IS THE WAY THE COOKIE CRUMBLED..

    Dear Captain,

You clearly have a thing or two to say to your audiences, which is fine. But, by being anti-Semitic what are you trying to prove? and to whom?

If you are sitting here typing away things against Jewish people yet you are safe and so is your blog and family etc then you know Jews aren’t evil and ain’t gonna harm you, they respect free speech, in fact the blogs and social media that you use to spew venom against Jews are created by Jews !

I would like to congratulate you for finding your “religion” and “self respect” back, whatever that means. However, in your new found “self respect” don’t get so carried away that you start bashing your very own “friends” in your own words.

Jews are not just friends of Hindus, Jews love and get along with one and all, including Muslim and Arabs, yes we might have our differences but we are cousins after all. Aren’t we? Ottoman Empire not only saved but rescued Jews during holocaust and we know it well. Yes, Christians and Jews have had issues until about mid 1960s and Jews were persecuted in Christian lands by their kings, but lived with Muslims and Arabs in peace throughout from Palestine to Spain during Islamic caliphate. Jews got refuge with Muslims and even served in the courts of Caliphs on higher positions and still do, example presently chief advisor to the king of Morocco is Jewish.

Coming to your allegations, captain you have been blind sided with your new found self respect etc. Jews never lost it even during adversities trampled them for millenia and more.

You are inconsistent with many of your own “revelations” sir. You say Jesus never existed (well that has been a Jewish stand for over 2000 years now). But, in some of your blogs you do mention he took ship to come to “kerela” your hometown of course. If he never existed then how come he took the ship to your hometown sir? and also went back on ship to Jerusalem after that!

.... Now, leaving aside the religious aspects. You say Muslims are good, (of course as per Jewish tradition Muslims have a share in afterlife.) Anyways, Sir, you have been honest in not painting Muslims as evils and as non humane as portrayed by media, I have even come across few comments where you have told off some bigot for being anti-Muslim and I commend you for your honesty.

However staying with your inconsistency you have mentioned Jews were behind Mughal empire. OK. But then in the same breath you say Islamic Invaders? Wouldn’t it be then Jewish posing as Islamic invaders? Also you address some of the personalities as “rabidly muslim” whatever that means? According to your new found “self respect” which apparently was taken away by white man somehow, you now think that only your people are righteous? Rest everyone is crazy and stupid! How is that different from Islamic fundamentalism or Christian fanaticism or hindutva ?

So being a “fan boy” of APCO branded Modi you feel he is the saviour and the messiah! You can’t see the obvious or maybe too scared to admit?

Cursing Jews isn’t going to fix your domestic issues sir. Jews have endured a lot of persecution and vile attempts for millenias and came out winners every time and owned the world. Remember we do not have huge numbers like you guys. In Churchill’s words we don’t breed like rabbits as Indians did.

Your favorite BJP is using hasbara support to fan off any opposition against the APCO branded Modi who is working as a stooge for R, with Ambani’s and Adanis taking him to be a policy maker and business Developement executive for their empire. The TROLL army IT CELL is modelled on hasbara brigade of yesteryear and they work with same technique and principles as them. Take a moment to look within sometime and critique your own aswell sir....

As for your comment that Hindus are friends of Jews, well yes but also because Hindus need Jews, you need our influence in US lobby and UN and Kashmir policy (which by the way is handled from Israel even during congress) and to check on Pakistan and China. Israel gives you what you need and more. Without Israeli support and inputs India might find itself isolated in many issues.

Making fun of holocaust and Jews have been the favorite gossip past time for people and Jews don’t give two hoots about it. We have come a long way and there is no stopping us. We are ruling the world and will be super power in flesh and blood come what may and we are proud of it.

You must see where your country is driven before telling Jews what they should or shouldn’t be doing, we did not come this far without sense or understanding. Your country is going downhill sir, because suddenly you have made theifs, murderers and sellouts into “deshbhakts” and too scared to change your stance as you have in your naivity branded some real well meaning people as traitors, anti nationals etc. well you can enjoy your self certified “deshbhakti” and wait for dark ages. Jews are moving ahead and we don’t care about lingams or stones to steal them or whatever. It is clear the things are being played between 3 Abrahimic religions as prophesied and you need to sit back and relax and watch it unfold just as a king from your hometown did, by accepting one of the 3 Monotheistic Abharimic religion. Maybe he did realise something which you missed out.

Jews are not into conversions hence I would suggest you sit back print your certificates of deshbhakti and distribute them freely to whoever you please whilst ignoring things that are immediate threat in your own back yard and be delusional by closing your eyes and looking the other way because your deshbhakti stamped people can ruin anything, they can murder, rape and burn the country because they are certified by you, and ofcourse how can you be wrong ever, isn’t it?

Your mantra so far that I have seen is.

I am right because I say so myself!

Cool. Live in your lala land. But, please leave the Jews aside as we aren’t interested in your piss drinking science or history as we have better things to do and achieve in the world then to keep looking back and be trapped in a dillusional “loosing and gaining of self respect” syndrome.

P.S. Try and be at least consistent in what you say. Rather then siding with those who tow your line of thought and cursing those who have different point of view. Perception is a matter of perception too.

MANUP and publish this comment, you are known for curbing free speech which you so fiercely propagate on a blogpost and blame Jews for it.

      Shalom.

Could you please point the paper having Y-DNA analysis of Kerala ? Haplogroup L is spread across the whole western belt of India especially around indus river.
"Nairs of K" --- Haplogroup L is the son of K in the phylogenetic tree and basal K* is not found in the subcontinent from what I have seen. Most of Nairs paternal lineages would belong to L,R1a,J2 imo.
"Namboothiris of H" --- Imo ,a lot of Namboothiris might come under R1a and L (if the legend of Parsurama bringing Namboothiris to Kerala after drying up of Saraswati river is indeed true).

      C-M130 = 0.0. %
      F-M89 = 2.11 %
      G-M201 = 3.16 %
      H-M69 = 5.26 %

      L3-M357 = 1.05 %
      R1a1-M17 = 24.21 %
      R2-M124 = 5.26 %

No C-M130 in the ezhava males (atleast in the study above) while 64.2% of the male lineages belong to G-M201, J2,L-M20,R1a and R2.

    11. I dont understand why it is considered mandatory to have central Asian genes in order to be considered a martial race. This silly habit and obsession formed in the British era glorifying Central Asians has to stop.

For the record Central Asia was mostly filled with nomad shepherds and pacific townsfolk.

But when nomads were pushed beyond their endurance due to lack of grazing land, they had to no choice but push ahead and their ready access to horses gave them an edge.
The Mongols failed in India because their horses could not survive the heat and there was no suitable grazing land.
The Turks were more adaptable but even they depended on the trading routes which supplied fresh horses(from Afghanistan, not Mongolia) and troops. However the Mongols managed to close that and the Delhi sultanate collapsed.
The Delhi sultanate's insularity made it quite racist. Its collapse opened the doors to more inclusive Muslim polities which in time became syncretised so much so that some Deccan sultans adopted Hindus titles and dedicated their libraries to Saraswati.

I agree on the infancy of population genetics but one has to understand what exactly we are measuring. What i pointed above was a Y-chromosome haplogroup study (Y-chromosomes are passed only from father to son {think of it as a paternal gotra where the son inherits the gotra of his father}Females don't have Y-chromosome unless we are talking about XXY intersex people who barely make 1% of population. ). We have made decent strides in detecting downstream SNPs of Y-chromosome (and since most of the times it's the males who migrate, it can give some perspective about migrations but as you said one has to be careful in analyzing it with respect to history .There is enough pseudoscience and pseudo-history thrown in the name of population genetics) .
Regarding Jats and Ezhavas sharing the same "gene", i assume you might be talking about Y-chromosome or some series of common male ancestors shared some 5-6 K years ago. If you see the list of Y-chromosome haplogroups that i listed for the Ezhavas , there are three prominent clusters. One is H-M69 and H1-M52 ( ~5%+25% = 30%, imo , H1-M52 is the 'moolnivasi' or the tribal indian male Y-haplogroup from whatever i have read), second cluster would L1-M27 and L3-M357 (~21%), these L males are very peculiarly concentrated along the western part of india from north to south and more peculiarly across the Indus valley, it is surprisingly found even in the males/tribes of Pamir and Hindu Kush (like Kalash,Nuristani) and even upto south Russia . Third cluster is the R1a1-M17 (~24% in the ezhava samples, this is infamously called as the Indo-european /'Aryan'/'Viking' chromosome lol). This R1a-M417's distribution stretches from the Central and Eastern Europe in the north to the Sinhalese in the south(In South Asia,it's not very uniform). Jats and Ezhavas share these two clusters i.e L-M27 and R1a-M417. Btw, the R1a-M417 branch found in Central Europe is different from the one found in South Asia. R1a1a-Z282 is found in Europe while R1a1a-Z93 is found in South Asia (Paksitan,India,Sri Lanka,Bangladesh).
Now both Z282 and Z93 are sons to the branch R1a-M417 which according to statistical estimates was formed some ~8400 years ago ( https://yfull.com/tree/R-M417/ ). Regarding of when it was formed, it doesn't change the fact the the great majority of males in South Asia , Central/Eastern Europe, West Asia share a recent great,great.... grandfather (descended from the same male post ice age :/ ) . Now, isn't this fact very interesting !!

    3. I was aware of the chariot find but dont know what to make of it for the following reasons

      1. Burial in coffins. Vedic people then as now preferred cremation so what is this business of burial
      2. Not aware of Vedic society where kings or warriors were buried with their possessions
      3. on the coffins there are motifs of horned gods and peepal leaves which are associated with IVC. Perhaps we should re examine our assumptions about IVC being purely a trading based civilization and not warrior like
      4. These chariots and riders could belong to mercenary types hired from the Middle East. We know many Greeks and Romans served Tamil kings and there were even tombs to their name in the past. This could be one example

There are too many unanswered questions at this point to reach any conclusion about this find.

    4. What an achievement for Akshay Venkatesh. However he is Australian and ceased to be Indian. I dont think we should take credit for achievements of Indians in foreign countries. That makes Indians in the motherland complacent and delusional. I prefer Indian media does not focus on Indians who are citizens of foreign countries. Indians should stop piggybacking off that glory

He seems to be Tamil Brahmin. All said and done, their splendid intellectual achievements they seem to me a miserable people , not just them Telugu Brahmins and those who emulate their lifestyles as well such as sat shudra upper castes such as Kapu, sections of Kammas, Vellalar etc
Due to their extremely dry and sterile lifestyle, the suicide rate in south India is way above the national average.

I only asked wildfire if there was any news related to his win in Tamizh news outlets considering Mr Venkatesh is a TamBrahm ;). I really doubt any indian living in india can win a fields medal.

On an other note, if you want to see some good performances of Indians , here is the latest results from International Physics Olympiad 2018.

    7. But isn't it unfair? When something bad happens the blame goes to India (and Hindus if it's related in some way) but when there is something positive everyone is quick to mention the fact that he has nothing to do with india or his caste as if one or two generation is enough to change one's ethnicity. Thumping your chest on other's achievement is the most pathetic behaviour and i am against indians taking credit but this happens everytime.

    8. If you are referring to Lakireddy Balireddy types, then those guys werent born in U.S but were in India. And he was operating on a feudal Indian mindset. Similarly a lot oF Indians like Nadella and Pichai who made it big in U.S were formed by Indian institutions which were further perfected by U.S. Therefore India should get some credit.
I dont know what you are referring to where Hindus or Indians are blamed when something bad happens. I try to be as fair and consistent as possible as mentioned above
The media hypes up all these "Indians" who have nothing to do with India apart from ethnicity.
In Western countries, you cant change your genetics obviously but you can change your culture and in time your offspring can change ethnicity as well and totally assimilate in to the other countrys mainstream. Thinking otherwise is racist and feudal. And it will keep raising doubts in Western society whether we can ever completely assimilate and then we will be the first to whine about racism which is ironic as we were operating on racist assumptions that blood comes first.

The American education system for instance has a more holistic approach which is not targetted towards saturating students with info they can barely absorb.

I know that most Indian students are completely useless when it comes to critical thinking which is a must for every developed world and is crucial if we have to foster a culture of innovation.

Overdose of knowledge which most dont even understand but half heartedly slog through in order to qualify for college and work is not doing anyone any favors.

It is better to know less but know whatever you know incredibly well

Those high achievers we hear so much about managed to thrive in a brutal world and came out as winners but there so so many losers

In Western education there is no zero sum game, every gets a shot at success because their system is structured that way

"SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN VENEZUELA, IRAN , ZIMBABWE – THE KOSHER BANKERS WANT REGIME CHANGE ( TO INSTALL A JEWISH PUPPET ) SO THAT THEY CAN STEAL.. TILL THEN THEY WILL PUNISH THE PEOPLE BY STARVATION , BY MAKING THEIR CURRENCY WORTHLESS.

THE JEWS AND THEIR AGENTS WHO BLED VENEZUELA , FLED WITH THEIR LOOT AND ARE NOW LEADING AFFLUENT LIVES IN FOREIGN NATIONS."

Last time I checked, affluent Venezuelans who earned their wealth legally were fleeing the country. It was Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro who ran down the economy and became rich in the process. Iran is shackled with too many restrictions and those linked to the government there run all businesses. Zimbabwe collapsed because Robert Mugabe and his party didn't know how to run the country.

The other Commies like CPM or CPI will fare worse and their survival in Kerala too will be threatened. bjp might struggle in states like TN, Bengal, Andhra and Telangana. Another opportunist, Chandrababu Naidu, will also be in for a rude shock, both in the LS and State elections.if Pappu hopes to become pm then he needs BJD, JDU, AIADMK, TRS and YSR congress on the boat as pre-poll alliances . You seem to be a Modi bhakt. CB Naidu is an opportunist, well I dont deny that. Calling a politician opportunist is redundant. I am less than enthralled with Naidu. Naidu's idea of development involves usually a combination of creative accounting, redistribution of resources , a zero sum game, over the top spending monies which the state doesnt have mindset all topped off with a blitzkrieg marketing campaign. All of this collapsed in 2004. Whatever one says about YSR, he did improve the lot of the farmers.
Hindutvadis talk a agreat deal about his siezing of lands near Tirupati . But failed to provide evidence of the same. In reality YSR actually banned missionaries in Tirupati and was considered himself a devotee of Venkateswara despite being a Christian. Probably got an F in Bible class. Which is just as well.

However saying all that about Naidu, I support his harangues against Modi. If Naidu is a bullshitter, then Modi is his "baap" in this regard. TDP was part of the BJP coalition that pushed Modi into office and now it is Modi's turn to fulfill his end of the bargain . And keeps reneging to issuing funds to build AP which is a new state in dire need of capital even accounting for Naidus instinct for grandisity

I personally that Modi's bad habits of culture taking precedence over governance has formed his character. He probably dislikes AP and Telengana since they wont fall in line with his stupid anti beef/gauraksha/vegetarian agenda.

The correlation between mostly vegetarian states and support for BJP is incredibly high.

    4. Forgot to mention: I am not excusing YSR's obvious corruption and seizing of vast amounts of lands and state treasury for his rogue family. Pretty much all of his offspring belong in jail. I was just defending him from some common Hindutvadi allegations.
All said and done, I would rather have a violent rogue like YSR as PM than baniyas like Modi , Manmohan Singh etc.

I HV been sensing danger ever since modi started reducing interest rates in fd and small savings accounts :) honestly, vast majority of India judges govts by simple things like onion price, some pseudo anti pak stance ,and by interest rates.cant blame Indians either,we were never trained or made competent enough to Carry burden of freedom and democracy.we vote govts in and out based on the most trivial of issues .and modi has hurt us in those trivial areas since day 1 :)

      Delete
    12. In a country with a large poor population such as India, price of onions is not a trivial issue. Even in U.S presidential candidates can fall when wages dont keep up with CPI.
We have democracy but what use when we dont really have freedom.

All people need for the most part pretty much anywhere in the world including developed countries is food, shelter, affordable medical care, education, law and order and dependable infrastructure and quality of life issues such as clean air ,water and pleasant sorroundings. If a leader gives and maintains these the population will forgive a good deal of his flaws . But the trick is not to let them stagnate. This is where the free market comes in.And after a while they start thinking of loftiers pursuits such as art, music ,culture and political representation and freedom.

    14. Never knew this side of CB Naidu. All the while I was in the belief that he was a superman lifting Andhra Pradesh with his hands like Ravana lifted Mount Kailash, or more appropriately, Hanuman carrying the Sanjeevani Mountain on his right hand (or was it his left hand?), and wondering why he lost in 2004 despite all his hard work. But who else exists in Andhra today? I can't see anybody in my vicinity.

I think your analysis of Modi's cultural views taking precedence over his governance is near picture perfect. For instance, the central govt gave Kerala only 600 Cr for flood relief while the UAE gave Kerala 7 Cr! No idea how much Qatar is giving Kerala but for sure Gulf Arab Sheikhs seem to be helping Kerala more than New Delhi!!

When Andhra is in dire need of capital, to deprive them of it is wicked and sinister. I am not surprised that they are angry.

What is depressing is that India pays more for fuel and gas than Australia, Canada and the USA.
      https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/gasoline_prices/
      https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/diesel_prices/

Canada and America have oil themselves. Australia has high standards of living. Can the average Indian afford to pay as much as them?

      Delete
    15. Correction: UAE gave Kerala 700 Cr, not 7 Cr.

From being a Pappu, Rahul Baba has become a troll now. It will take some more time before he becomes the leader of trolls and finally the leader of India. At least that's how Modi evolved. He started off as a troll, became a leader to trolls and finally became PM.

I do not care whether or not somebody is dynasty but if he has character, personality and a vision, that is enough for me.

But I must say, Modi has some scientific temper despite his education in political science. See how he suggested making energy by drainage combustion. How many national leaders in India have come up with such ideas before him? First they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win. Don't know the exact quote but I think you get what I mean.

///All people need for the most part pretty much anywhere in the world including developed countries is food, shelter, affordable medical care, education, law and order and dependable infrastructure and quality of life issues such as clean air ,water and pleasant surroundings.///

You are right on the money here. However there are two important exceptions to this rule: Iranians and Tamils.

Iranians protested in 1979 but since Khomeini took over they never took to violence of that scale. Tamils protested repeatedly when Tamil Nadu had a good growth rate like the last decade. Now they simply roll over and get trampled.

Iranians are smart. Tamils are stupid. Therein lies the difference.

Regarding New Delhi, can you provide any data on how much have the private citizens from New Delhi have or have not contributed to the floods relief ? I can tell you one scenario where help from those "vile" North Indians may get masked. Consider the example of Bangalore which has a decent North-Indian population most of whom are engineers, businessmen ,entrepreneurs and startup founders. I am sure these guys will contribute in crores via local NGOs/foundations but such contributions will be masked by a vague "Bangalore" contribution

Re: UP, Bihar and Odisha, yes, it's depressing that they don't get any attention despite facing calamities every year. India must now focus on developing huge underground drainage systems throughout the nation in order to stem the losses that occur due to avoidable disasters.

There is no arm twisting by anybody. Oil prices in India were high even during the Obama years. When we don't have the living standards of Australia, Canada or America, how can we pay as much as they do, forget paying more?

Contribution is counted by states not by cities as far I know. By that token there are of lot of South Indian business in Mumbai and Delhi and their contributions to north disasters will also be overlooked.

As of now the highest contributor to Kerala seems to be Telengagna with 25 crore rupees and another 50 crores or so in supplies and equipment. I am frankly surprised as Telangana itself has considerable challenges and Kerala is one southern state we really dont have a connection with mostly due to geography I suppose.

    8. * It is due to this that I am a misfit in India. People in India simply dont care about free speech as every other community wants to ban this movie, chastise or imprison this individual for saying something that "hurt their sentiments"

I saw a funny facebook comment from Justice Katju a few years ago mocking Oriyas

I was asked to write about the Oriyas ( Odias ).
What is there to write about these poor chaps ?
Ever since they got a thrashing at the hands of Ashoka in the battle of Kalinga they have been a dejected lot.
Now all they have with them are a lot of pots ( Patras ), big pots ( Mahapatras ), and supposedly intelligent kings ( Patnaiks ).
And of course they have Lord Jaggannath, to whom they pray every day for revenge on the abominable Biharis..

In response, Oriyas protested and burnt effigies and banned him to visiting their site
Now Katjus claim is historically illiterate, Kharavela later on gave a thrashing to Biharis and Eastern Gangas and Gajapati dynasties based meted out pretty brutal lessons to Muslims on the battlefield.

But the comment was funny and harmless. The problem with Indians is their mindset that if someone says something offensive then it has to be banned.
A recent freedom index listed India pretty low on press freedoms and freedom of speech. Lower than many Muslim countries.

I definitely don't think that the press has less freedom if anything they manufacture fake news and get ever with it every now and then. Government was actually going to do something about this but they started whining "about freedom this and that" so the government didn't do anything.
"Free speech" comes with responsibilities which our media (especially the English one) lack. May be , these surveys by foreign organizations has something to do with the cancelling of licenses of foreign funded NGOs by the current government. I expect more such surveys till 2k19 elections .

When I speak of media censorship, it is crap like this which I swear to god I read in The Hindu a couple of years ago in Hyderabad

"A person of a certain community got into an argument with someone of another community. This quickly assumed a communal angle and the latter person later struck him with a sword"

This is not reporting. It is a complete and utter joke. Reporting trash about celebrities and personal lives of politicians is considered terribly brave
It is another matter that reporters and so called "journalists" often are in the payroll of these politicians and corporations . No this is not even considered corruption, it is quite open as newspapers and TV pay them shit. And they get some cash at press conferences.
This is not press freedom, it is rather a joke.

Actually, come to think of it, it could also be a Shia-Sunni fight ! I remember during a recent Shia vs Sunni riot ,some english newspapers passed very cryptic headlines like " people from majority community hurt people of minority....". Any person who reads only the headlines would think of this as the "Hendoo" oppressing Muslim but actually it was Sunni majority against the Shia minority lol.

Don't worry,I am a bong and I hv donated for Kerala from my meagre income, whatever I could afford.i am sure there are a vast many anon north and east Indians and even northeast indians like me who hv donated as per their capacities.meanwhile ,even as racists like chandrapida continue to spray venom on Kerala,I am seeing another disturbing trend from some south folks who are speaking of a united state of south India ,separate from Indian nation.but such propaganda mostly remains online and doesn't touch the ground at all, unless some high profile politician decides to make a career out of it.

Also in a rather sad note,I can't help but observe one thing ,wrt to the relief and support given to kerala.that is,just one or two years back,Assam and Bihar floods, which were equally,if not more, devastating compared to Kerala, didn't get this much attention or support from other Indian states.anyway this time in Kerala floods,a vast population of Indians ,largely from the northern states as well,hv donated to pm and cm relief funds.i hope this sets a new trend in our journey of civilizational nationhood.

Since the colorful Laloo has faded into obscurity, Bihar has gone off the media's radar. And also it is very far from the media centres of Mumbai ,Delhi and Chennai. The Bhadralok of Bengal who view BIharis as riffraff couldnt be least bothered.

Yeah biharis are seen to be somewhat an expendable lot, that is the issue.and that is why India as a whole will continue to suffer for many more years to come.
One reason biharis are not liked in Bengal is that they apparently reduce the cultural and aesthetic quality of a place after settling.but beyond this ,Bengal is generally not xenophobic or unfriendly to population of other states.infact quite on the contrary ,the native Bengali population is losing it's space slowly with each and every census .in Darjeeling and northern areas, many bengalis used to live in the past, now these parts are wholly dominated by hilly population like gorkhas etc.anyway all this is ok as long as we are living and evolving peacefully :) no part of India is bad enough for me not to be accommodated ,and sooner or later, developmental and economic superiority ideas will cross the barriers of racial and ethnic superiority, that is what I believe.as we will move on through 21st century, ideas of religion ,ethnicity , caste, race etc will dilute away slowly .

Yes, Indians are generally unskilled. They're still at the laborer level even if they have degrees added to their names. Yes, as you say, Indians need to do more on this front. However high taxes and empowering bureaucrats like the IT and ED has made life harder for middle and lower class people.

"also did rural electrification" -- I think most of the rural electrification had already been done till the last UPA era. The govt just completed whatever remaining was left.
"But even that is washed out with the Income Tax hounds" -- Well, the poor don't pay income taxes though(Only ~6-7 crores out of 128 crores people in India pay income tax and that too is a record number this year. Do you honestly believe only ~7 crore Indians come in the taxable slab lol !!).
In my personal opinion,India doesn't have the resources to sustain ~700 million middle class populations whose resource consumption will drastically increase as they up the hierarchy.

"Tamil Nadu has fallen way way behind now and is literally paying its revenue with debt. It will only get worse, at least for a few more years." -- Hey Wildfire, i have a question for you. As i see there is 69% reservations in colleges and institutions in Tamil Nadu as opposed to 50% ceiling set up by the government, does the government also provide fees waiver for the BC/MBC/EBC whatever new classifications it has created (OBCs weren't supposed to be provided with fees waiver as opposed to SCs/STs) ?

      Delete
    11. As for Nirav and Mehul, I don't think the govt is really interested in extraditing them and merely doing headline management.

I don't think Mehul Bhai will ever be leaving the shores of Antigua and Barbuda.

The poor don't pay income taxes, but the prices of commodities are very high and hit the poor the hardest. GST doesn't seem to help matters either. That's what I mean.

Yes, India doesn't have too much resources for a bloated middle class. That's for sure.

The govt in Tamil Nadu either waives fees for first graduates or keeps them very low. Fees are low for govt institutions but for private institutions they're higher. Students of SC/ST background can apply for scholarships and other schemes to help with their fees though.

OBCs in public or private institutions can also apply for scholarships.

      Delete
    12. Though OBCs tend to be better off, they have that option which remains underutilized.

Fees are low in govt institutions and high in private institutions for all students in Tamil Nadu.

For the past seven years there has been no active participation by the govt in improving anything. More engineering colleges each year remain unfilled and eventually shut down. This is now happening regularly. Lesser and lesser students opt for engineering these days because there's no growth, hence no jobs. Those who graduated are working in TASMAC liquor shops now!

      Delete
    13. Oh ok, I only wanted to know if All BCs have to pay less fees compared to General students in Tamil Nadu colleges ( imo, this is not needed as most BCs are in better condition and waiving their fees would put further strain .)

Well, I didn't know Tamil Nadu colleges were in such a bad shape. Well, as far as jobs are concerned, there is always IT and software industry in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune lol. If one has a decent grasp on coding, one can find a job easily.

      Delete
    14. A good chunk of engineering colleges in India are diploma mills which breed semi literates. IN AP and Telengana, it is common business practice to open engineering colleges to fleece students. These states have the highest number of engineering colleges in India but easily atleast 50% of these are utter junk.

      Delete
    15. All students pay low fees in govt institutions and high fees in private institutions. No exceptions. SC/ST/OBC people have some scholarship options and a few more programs.

Information Technology seems to be the only field that can withstand all kinds of weather. The telecom sector is bleeding jobs and cash left and right today.

Tamil Nadu colleges are in a bad shape due to the following reasons:
      1. The ones who run them are incompetent. Colleges in most cases are just extensions of schools with absurd rules. They used to work while investments kept coming into the state so people were content to sending their kids to these pseudo concentration camps for a better life. All of that stopped with 2011.
      2. With no investments, there's no growth. Forget affiliated colleges, even those who study in main govt colleges don't get jobs that easily. Such is the situation of the job market in Tamil Nadu. A lot of them move out.
      3. Those who stay back end up working in TASMAC liquor shops or run grocery stalls.

Tamil Nadu itself is in a very bad shape. Though the state has better foundations than other states, there's only so much that solid foundations (which haven't been maintained properly for seven years now) can do when the elected govt is full of jackasses. This has been the case since 2011.

With movie stars and scoundrels like TTV Dhinakaran entering the foray, I really don't see any hope for my state. It will end up like Rajasthan, Bihar or UP, unless and until a miracle happens, presumably from thin air.

But the advent of online platforms like Udacity, Coursera, edX and YouTube tutorials for theory and the presence of groups like Skyfi Labs and some YouTube channels for practical purposes gives me some hope. At least if they can eliminate these factory mills and open the market to talented folks who can do the job even if they don't have a degree, that would be truly amazing. But that would take a very long time to come into fruition right?

      Delete
    17. Problem with Indian education is that it teaches you a skill but no innovation. So it can create engineers to examine a problem and create models, programmers who can write code and accountants who can analyze a spreadsheet. These are valuable skills. HOwever it is unable to generate engineers who can invent their devices(and no jugaad of using fridge as AC type stuff doesnt count) , programmers who can come up with the next google or Microsoft(the world doesnt need more facebooks or instagrams) or financial planners who create sophisticated business strategies.

One of the good things about imitation is that India is the world capital for cheap pharmaceuticals if only it doesnt recognize patent laws. I dont think it should do an end run around it but these are genuinely saving lives and helping the poor.
Patent and copyright laws in the West need to be drastically overhauled.

Meanwhile patents and copyright implementation in India will give Indians financial incentive to be innovative. But I feel the greatest hurdle to innovation is not monetary but cultural. Fear of failure and losing face is really strong. Not to mention questioning authority is frowned upon. Very odd, considering in our tradition we literally slaughter gods in order to make way for new ones.
One of the problems I have with the Bhagvad Gita is that much of its content is at odds with its core message. i.e the Bhagvad Gita encourages killing relatives and elders in order to do the right think but at the same time celebrates authoritarian culture and caste system.

All those online portals are good resources to have. But the reality is that students, no matter from what part of the world still learn optimally the old fashioned way. In a structured setting face to face with a teacher and an interactive process
Only the incredibly disciplined and motivated can achieve the equivalent results via online education.

    19. Yes, most guys are skilled when it comes to programming, accounting and engineering but ultimately they don't innovate. They prefer to follow somebody's lead instead of innovating though it does have its own advantages.

India should overhaul patent laws but unfortunately and sadly they don't and won't. Let patents be held for a short period of time like 5 or even 10 years?

When did Indians start obeying authority despite their theology suggesting otherwise?

There are also sites like codechef.com which hosts monthly contests and where people can interact and learn from each other apart from participating in monthly contests. My sample set is small but during my brief stay at Bengaluru , i noticed a lot of startup founders tended to be Marwaris/erstwhile Vaishyas from the north(Guptas,Agarwals etc). My friends who founded and are running a few startups there tend to have such last names too (i found them to be good risk takers something which i didn't possess). Now i wonder, if there is some correlation or is it just low sample size creating this perception :) ?

    23. Agarwals, Marwaris, Guptas etc are traditional trading and business castes of North India . They have been in this field for more than a 1000 years. According to Aakar Patel, the reason their martial history is non existent is because they have diverted their risk taking nature into commercial pursuits than military glory
However OTOH in the south we have castes like Balijas, Shettys and Vellalas who have a business and martial background.
In the post independence era, the north Indian castes got a leg up due to their proximity to Delhi and connections with Nehru Gandhi clan.

Their whole race and culture is very meek and docile but the Japanese are masters in every field. They are above every race and civilization. Their way of living is so beautiful I got to learn so much about them from NHK international channel.

      Regarding marwaris,

I have huge respect for them. They are very hardworking people but wherever they go it feels as if they are invading foreign land with their people. In my city they are everywhere with their shops. After sunset you will see hoardes of tall marvadi women in their traditiontl wear buying veggies and fruits. It feels like mini rajasthan but the plus side is they are hygienic and their areas look good like gujjews.

    25. Japanese are great engineers due to their incredible attention to detail which stems from their artisanal record of creating intricate miniatures. This especially gives them a leg up in design of electronic devices.
However very few of these were invented by Japanese themselves. They have perfected and constantly improved the processes involved in the design and manufacture of the same.
This is the famed Kaizen concept which should be considered an invention in its own right
However I am not sure but I think even this is based on the concept of the "panic chord" which was developed by NASA and in use by GM and Ford. If during inspection of parts or even semi finished product of an assembly, a flaw no matter how minor was detected. A panic chord was pulled which would stop all production instantly and the problem was relayed to highest level of management and production in earnest wouldnt begin until the problem was fixed. Now consider that this would involve considerable cost and time and restart it again. Hence everyone had to be on their best game.

Charles Pelegrino on his historical and anthropological book From Sodom to Gommorah spoke of the decline of Egypt due to the destruction of the brilliant culture of Minos after the explosion of Thera to the America after the moon landing. As with Egypt after Minos(which invented central heating and flush toilets circa 1400 BC) , America after the moon landing had overwhelming Soviets so thoroughly in the technological arena that it got complacent and the panic chord was abandoned paving the way for the Japanese who adopted that system which may or may not have led to Kaizen.
Contrast this with our "chalta hai" attitude to pretty much everything.

But I have a query: Australia (and New Zealand) has never faced an economic recession. They're perfectionists in whatever they do, be they sports or engineering fields or IT. Despite all this, how come Americans and Canadians are more innovative than Aussies (and Kiwis)? What could be the reason? Has it something to do with America's bigger population? Even the UK is still inventing things today. But how come Australia (and New Zealand) doesn't do as much as the others? I mean, Aussie/Kiwi MNCs don't have the outreach of their American, Canadian, British, German, Italian, Korean or Japanese counterparts.

Aussies make their presence felt in various sports fields. Even during the Thailand cave rescue, it was an Aussie diver who paved the way for their rescue. Australia's national airline Qantas Airways is the safest airline in the world (its last accident was in 1951).

But at the same time, they make their presence felt with their absence when it comes to the global outreach of their enterprises.

      Am I missing something?

      Delete
    29. Correction: Inventions and MNCs are not necessarily the same. I wrongly framed my sentences that could convey a different meaning than what I intended.

    30. " Despite all this, how come Americans and Canadians are more innovative than Aussies (and Kiwis)" --- Well, a great majority of STEM field graduates in USA and Canada are Asian immigrants (West,South and East). I have at least 10 of my friends who are dong their Phds in USA/Canadian universities .
I don't agree that Japanese are only engineers. There is no lack of good theoretical scientists from Japan ( be in it Maths, Computer Science).

And yes 10K donation is rather a joke. As for RSS, I am not a fan of theirs but they do great volunteer work ala Chennai
But in Kerala , they had only PR fiasco after fiasco as they were caught doctoring photos, claiming that ABC volunteer is RSS when he is not and posting images from 2012 floods etc.
What is going on here exactly?

All this talk of sedition was absent before Modi started his stupid beef jihad. Modi's damn fool Gujarat model is shown to be a fake. I personally never believed the Gujarat model as even as Gujarat was prosperous , it didnt need a Modi to be successful and trading and business is part of their culture. However he showed promise and vision as a governor but where is that exactly. This is what everyone is asking including those of Kerala. Stupid shit like abusing Bali during Onam, mocking their culture ,diet and rituals and calling into question their Indianness like Tarun Vijay has done will bound to have a reaction. There is no point bitching about it when BJP put this in motion.

Modi himself wishes to move on from his central Indian hindutva days, but a chunk of his supporters and voters don't wish so :) instead of trying to paint him as a progress or development Messiah ,they are painting him to be a hindutva messiah.in Twitter , relatively erudite scholars with hindutva inclination are wasting time on the most trivial of issues like modi had demolished a few illegally constructed temples to construct an airfield or highway as guj cm ,and hence he is no hinutva vadi :P such useless shitty discourses are being persued by even learned people on Twitter. In the meantime ,no one bothered to create Civic awareness and campaign on the pending police reforms bill ,which is stuck in the pipeline since 2007.more than any temple being constructed ,this police reform and autonomy bill would help and affect the lives of us common Indians in better ways.

Seeing the nature of public discourse all around me,I feel India is bound to suffer for some more time as a 3rd world nation ,we can't help it. Religion based politics is a dangerous cocktail to keep people blind ,and our secular parties are actually more guilty of this in the first place .bjp is only using the general discontent among Hindus for it's own rise.

      Delete
    18. " before Modi started his stupid beef jihad" -- What beef jihad are you talking about ? AFAIK, the central government hasn't banned beef in any state. If you are talking about the mob lynchings, then most of them happened under the misunderstanding of victims being child abusers/child traffickers(fake whatsapp forwards) ,few happened under the title of "cow lynchings" but there is an another side of the story where poor farmers whose livelihood depend on these beasts got into scuffle with cattle smugglers.

" it didnt need a Modi to be successful and trading and business is part of their culture. However he showed promise and vision as a governor but where is that exactly" -- If only the rest of people from India were like Gujjus :/ .

"Stupid shit like abusing Bali during Onam, mocking their culture" -- Are you talking about Amit Shah's statement here ? I think all political leaders from the north-western belt(be in BJP or Congress) need to understand other states' cultures ,beliefs.

" Religion based politics is a dangerous cocktail to keep people blind ,and our secular parties are actually more guilty of this in the first place .bjp is only using the general discontent among Hindus for it's own rise." --- Hahaha don't worry ,it's either religion based politics or caste based politics. If tomorrow some political party somehow unites OBCs+ SCs under the pretext of reservations in private sector (which might happen , who knows :) ), no one is going to give a damn about temples, beef etc.
Anyways JAM, i got a question regarding West Bengal. A great number of seat in recent Bengal elections went uncontested (marred by allegations of political violence by the ruling TMC). What's up with that ?

      Delete
    19. Tim

The poitical violence is almost part of our social lives in Bengal :) generally what happens is that ,ruling party uses it's machinery to scare off rivals ,and hence uncontested seats.by now I am so much accustomed to seeing it,that I don't even react anymore :( Bengal is gone and lost ,at least economically.u cant dream of a progressive nation or state without a strong law and order.that is exactly why Bengal won't shine economically anytime soon.but to be a bit fair ,the ruling tmc is doing lesser of violence than what cpm did in it's peak power to tmc cadres . The problem is that ,back then we didn't hv a strong electronic media and social media was absent, hence cpm atrocities passed off unrecorded.in contrast ,tmc is doing it ,but to a lesser extent.also ,among the 30 people killed in recent poll violence ,most are tmc cadres,ie,from ruling party itself. Tmc failed in the propaganda machinery and sympathy collection, and bjp successfully painted the victim image in poll violence, because of the strong electronic propaganda machinery of bjp :P

Just one more example of the strong bjp propaganda machinery ,in the recent nrc list of Assam, apparently the max number of people kept out of nrc are Hindu Bengalis ,and yet bjp has won the propaganda here as well.bjp is pandering to assamese regional chauvinism agnst Hindu Bengalis for 2019 advantage, and at the same time ,it is putting up a anti bdeshi mask for national voters. Interestingly mamata Banerjee tried to highlight the fact that instead of removing illegal bdeshis,Indian hondu Bengalis of assam are being targeted by asaam govt.but since she has too many selfgoals on the front of minority appeasement,no one ,not even Bengali Hindus of Bengal are taking her seriously anymore.

i have heard about the CPM violence and booth capture. It's very sad that Bengal inspite of all the talent right from the British Raj days (Jagadish Chandra Bose, Satyendra Nath Bose) to today (2 out of 5 Indian gold medalists this year from International Physics olympiad are Bongs ) couldn't become a economic powerhouse. Nearly all of them end up migrating.

" the recent nrc list of Assam, apparently the max number of people kept out of nrc are Hindu Bengalis ,and yet bjp has won the propaganda here as well.bjp is pandering to assamese regional chauvinism agnst Hindu Bengalis for 2019 advantage, and at the same time ,it is putting up a anti bdeshi mask for national voters." -- This is very interesting. Did you read this in a Bengali news outlet ? I didn't remember this aspect being covered by any left or right-leaning news outlet (be in hindi/english).

"Interestingly mamata Banerjee tried to highlight the fact that instead of removing illegal bdeshis,Indian hondu Bengalis of assam are being targeted by asaam govt" -- I only remember her blood bath and civil war thing but probably something got lost in translation from Bengali to English. Official report yet to come, but unoffocial figures are hinting that there are more Hindu Bengalis left out in nrc than bdeshi Muslims.now this is the face of bjp hypocrisy,on one hand they speak of citizenship amendment act to give shelter to all bdeshi Hindus, and on the other, they remove even valid Indian Bengali Hindus who have been residing in assam for 4-5 decades. However to be fair to bjp, every single political outfit is a hypocrite at some level or other.

Mamata had foolishly made that bloodbath and civil war comment and lost her ground totally even among Bengali Hindus of west bengal On this nrc issue. And because of that self goal, she can't capitalise on nrc issue anymore.

The interesting pattern I am seeing is in the attitude of assamese native population.they are angry with Bengali Hindus ,they are angry with gorkhas and other tribals ,but they are not angry Wrt the actual bdeshi Muslim infiltrators . Assam targets Bengali and sylheti hindus ,but in contrast ,Bengal never has targeted either assamese or any other population based on xenophobia.

    28. So much has been discussed which I missed, so let me compile them all here.

      1. Yes, RSS did a lot of good work before. In Tamil Nadu, they used to do good work, for instance, in Vellore's Muslim locality which earned them their friendship. But they've changed direction after the 2016 state elections and are indulging in unproductive activities now. Photoshopping and circulating their older images as their work in Kerala has sullied their image now.

      2. BJP politicizing everything. Yes, when I saw the comments of BJP supporters, I was irritated. They were mocking Kerala in a very bad way saying that they deserve it, they are facing the wrath of the gods, calling them Gulf toilet cleaners, and many more. And the center is unnecessarily delaying the ops instead of acting fast. This is apart from mocking their customs.

      3. I agree with you on Gujarat and its business oriented people.

But despite their desperation and Tamil Nadu sending a lot of relief materials and help apart from the state government giving them money, Keralites are blaming the Mullaiperiyar dam for the floods now! They say they want to reduce its height (this will prevent water from flowing to Tamil Nadu) to prevent a disaster. I don't understand why they bring this up at this time...

I mean, Tamil Nadu literally feeds Kerala but the latter doesn't want to give water from the Mullaiperiyar dam. Why can't they reduce the height of the Idukki dam instead? They won't do that but instead they want to reduce the height of the Mullaiperiyar dam and dry out the very same Tamil Nadu farms that cultivate the food which will then be exported to Kerala!

Kerala follows Tantric Hinduism. Bengal also does right?

    8. Just don't think too much into what captain says. He plagiarizes his content. Whatever he says is from the vedas, puranas and upanishads. Instead of saying that, he builds up a notion as if he has brought something new. For people who have studied the scriptures, all this is not new.

In olden days and even now, rishis would write commentaries just like shankaracharya. A very similar approach is being done by Captain where he is interpreting the scriptures to his understanding. There is nothing wrong in doing so but claiming he is the only person in this planet to have a king size brain to understand the scriptures real meaning is egoistic. There are many who do understand but do not want to come in public.

Bringing a revolution in everybody's way of thinking to follow and understand our ancient scriptures is the only good thing he has done by his blog site. All his content is pretty much interpreted or even copied from lots of books.

I have a question about beef eating practice among Kerala Hindus and some Punjabis. They serve beef in their restaurants too causing inconvenience to rest of Hindus.
Being a devout Hindu and Gurus, how come Kerala Hindus turned to beef eating? Is it a plot of Islamic/white invaders? The people like Zakir Naik and ilk are referring certain poison injected verses supporting beef eating in Vedas.
I am no way criticizing the food habits of any particular region but asking for academic purposes. Please clarify.

Meat eating was started in India when Mughals invaded.

      https://www.thehindu.com/life-and-style/food/sangam-literature-offers-abundant-references-to-food-in-the-tamil-country/article24046748.ece

      An excerpt...
The book Tamizhar Unavu, written by Bhaktavatsala Bharathi has a separate chapter on ‘food in Sangam age’ and enumerates the literary references. Couplets in the Sirupanatrupadai say that people of the Marudham landscape ate white rice with a thick pasty curry made of crab flesh and ridge gourd. It records varieties of white rice, meat, spinach, vegetables, puffed rice, pulses, cereals, legumes and pickles as staple in the diet. The Porunaratrupadai describes how the Kurinji people of Chola country ate tubers and honey. The literary work of Malaipadukadam records a kozhambu made of jackfruit seeds, raw mangoes and tamarind extract that was eaten with bamboo rice and buttermilk . Perumpanatrupadai records a recipe in which Varagu rice, lentils, tamarind pulp and broad bean seeds were cooked together. A song from Purananuru states that meat was marinated in curd before cooking. The kinds of Paalsoru and Puliyodharai find a mention in Agananuru, which also describes a hunting episode in which watchmen guarding millet fields in the Mullai region hunted wild boars and cooked the meat in direct fire.
      ....
In Kakatiya era which was pre Islamic , there are references to boar hunting and chicken recipes.
And it is not neccesary to live on the coast to have access to fish and other marine food.

Captain as usual is living in his own BJP idea of Ram Rajya prior to Muslim invasions. However I wont be surprised if RSS believes the same crap and Modi imbibed it as well.

Mughals had introduced kebabs and rich gravy dishes featuring meat such as kormas and koftas which was different from the type of meat dishes that Indians consumed.

You can see the difference between Hyderabadi Muslim cuisine and Telengana Hindu peasant cuisine which are both non veg but vastly different in preparation.

The difference is Captain's belief in his intution/intellect is so strong that he cannot think beyond himself. When he is cornered, he will either gang up against the person or throw a similar challenge to the opponent by twisting the question, basically does not want to accept his mistake. He will want to be a caretaker of dharma, but himself will never follow it. Such people give excellent advice but they themselves never follow it in practice. They are always looking for a chance to prove themselves, no matter where. They behave like a lion where they feel comfortable, a mouse outside their comfy zone. He cannot accept anybody else who is still alive and more popular than him in his area of work! One observation i ave made is that he always supports the looser/minority.

    5. UAE has a Sheikh not a king. i.e the ruler of UAE Shiekh Khalifa Al Nahyan is the titular ruler of federated states but has limited authority over the Emirates besides the capital Abu Dhabi. The other Emirates are Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khamaih, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.
Around 40-50% of the population is Indian and Pakistan, out of this Indian population 80% is from Kerala.
Having lived there though, I couldnt be bothered to pick up too much Malayalam apart from the Sanskrit and Tamil components I knew already. Just IMO Malayalam is not a very appealing language.
And FYI, most of the laborers in construction are not Malayalees. They work in and run restaurants, supermarkets as well as white collar jobs.
And these human rights abuses such as packing numerous laborers in cramped quarters like sardines in a can, making them work in the summers in the afternoon(which is illegal as per UAE laws) and hanging on to their passports(also illegal) as well as not paying them for months(illegal pretty much everywhere) are the tactics of our oh so moral and patriotic countrymen irrespective of which part of India, though construction and other big business tend to be Tamil, Gujarati , Punjabi or Sindhi.
And feel free to abuse these states as well.

People like ck bring out the worst in me, and now I have to defend the captain because of his nonsense , oh dear god. Captain certainly grovels before all Muslims and his Moplahs are no exception . However he DID make an exception regarding the massacre and mentioned their brutalities in one of his earlier posts.

    6. You must understand all of captains deviations from the norm are Kerala specific. If Muslims stopped being awesome for a second ala Tipu Sultan and Mophahs its because they ended up doing damage to Kerala. The Moplahs target in particular were Nair landlords.
Honestly I knew bought the Hindutva narrative of Moplahs in a fit of jihadic rage slaughtering Nairs. While Islamic identity was part of the issue, it wasnt the entire deal. Much of their grievances were socio economic and Moplah women were often forced to be topless in front of Nair lords . SImilar to how Nambuthiris treated Nairs.
Many Moplahs were landless peasants who couldnt climb up the social pole. Their status has taken a hit since the British moved . Before they would faithfully serve the Zamorin and were rewarded with lands and deeds. Their naval fleet commanded by Kunhali Marakkars single handedly kept the Portugues out of Kerala and South Kanara. Otherwise the Portuguese plan was to capture the entire West coast of India. Due to Vijayanagar, Bahmanis, Marathas, Kerala kingdoms in roughly that chronological order, Portuguese had to make do only with Kerala and were prevented by reaching the east coast of India.

Kerala Muslims ironically have more Arab ancenstry than North Indian Muslims but take pride in speaking Malayalam. Can your North Indian Muslims in BJP ruled states speak any khariboli, if not ,why not?

I am beginning to suspect that Hindutva is the ideology of those Hindus who were losers and lacking martial prowess in the past such as Gujaratis, Sindhis, UP, Jats etc. Since they were unable to deal with Muslim powers in the past , they want to fight the wars which their forefathers were unable to by reimaging the neighborhood cobblers and mechanics as Ghazni and Aurangzeb.
Meanwhile those who managed to pay back Muslims in the same coin or had mostly commerical relations with them such as the entire south and Orissa couldnt be bothered with BJP

      Delete
    7. But hindutva comes from maharashtra and their history against islam is well known. I guess you are mixing hindutva and BJP's hindutva.

    9. The Hindutva envisioned by Savarkar was a radically different beast from that followed by BJP. BJPs Hindutva owes not to the freedom fighter Savarkar but to RSS which was developed by Hegdewar which was purely nationalistic.

Hindutva's efforts to coopt Maratha struggle has been a partial success. Part of this is due to sense of Maratha supremacy which is at odds with Indo Gangetic culture of Jats and Rajputs as well as Sikhs who dont look too favorably on Marathas. Never mind Southern Kanara and Bengal.

    11. On business practices: I can relate to these unethical business practices of Tamils. The best example is Saravana Stores. That store sells products slightly below MRP and became famous for it in the first place. Workers there get hardly anything. On top of that they're made to work for long hours everyday. There was even a film on this some years ago called "Angadi Theru".
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angadi_Theru

This is just one example. I've also seen Gujarati/Punjabi businesses exploiting workers. Don't know much about Sindhi ones but I remember a relative of mine calling them "Gujarati ka baap". So I get the gravity.

As for North Indian Muslims, is it they think they're the great Mughals or Delhi Sultans or whatever? Is it because Bollywood is biased in favor of them, so they have no incentive to be proud of Khariboli or any other native North Indian language?

I didn't know Mallu Muslims were also living in relative poverty before the Moplah revolt. For everything the captain said/says about his state, he never gives us the full picture.

His picture of his own state resembles a half-shaved head.

    13. "As for North Indian Muslims, is it they think they're the great Mughals or Delhi Sultans or whatever?" --- Not all Muslims claim to be descendants of great Mughals etc. If i am not wrong there is some hierarchy like Ashraf/Ajlaf which kinda distinguishes the descendants of foreign Muslims from that of the local converts. Pretty sure YSV knows more about this :/ .

    14. Re Indian Muslims and Mughals

Indian Muslims ,even North Indian Muslims are not a monolithic entity. What I find funny and ironic is that Pakistanis take great pride in being the offspring of Persians, Arabs and Turks but reality is that the descendants of these are mostly in India.
The Mongol and Timurlanes invasion displaced a lot of Persian and Turks into India and most of Persian literature in the world is actually composed in India due to this.
THey preferred to settle in India, specifically Delhi, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bidar ,Berar ,Ahmadnagar etc as this is where the power centres lie. Not in Pakistan who in reality were descendents of Jats and Gujjar shepherds, most of whom were semi Hindu and only some were martial.
You may find the descendents of great Mughals selling tea in Calcutta, living slums in Hyderabad or even driving ricksaws
One of this lot tried to sue the government of India and tried to repossess the Taj Mahal. The GOI's official response might as well have been - "LOL ,Regards President of India"
      https://baaghi.tv/slumdog-mughal-princess-owner-taj-mahal-now-lives-desperate-poverty/

      https://www.quora.com/Is-the-Mughal-family-still-there-Where-are-they-How-are-they-living

If the Pakistanis wish to claim the Mughals, they are welcome to take this lot, place a crown on their heads and allow themselves to be ruled with an iron fist. Both parties are happy.

    15. There was considerable racism by Middle Eastern Muslims who were the ruling elite against native converts. One of the reasons Bahmani empire fell apart ,aside from Shri Krishnadevarayas campaigns was the court was torn asunder due to such ethnic intrigues.

Bernier, a French physician who visited India during Aurangzebs rule noted the preference of the Mughal court for Persians and Turks and how they would mock the halting Persian spoken by Indian Muslims. Until the mid 1800s there was a considerable rift between foreigners and natives . An identifier was usually the use of Persian. Urdu was considered for the riff raff i.e Ajlaf and Arzal.
Marathas, Jats, Sikhs and later British made short work of vestiges of Muslim rule and the high and mighty foreigners were brought down to the same level and since then it gave an opportunity for Hindus to laugh at Dalits who converted on Friday and claimed descendent from Prophet mohd or Saladdin on Sunday.
Tipu Sultan is perhaps the only Muslim ruler of native ancestry (most likely of a low ranking Polygar who converted) but even he was so desperate for respectability and acknowledgment from the Mughals that he invented a fake geneology linking him to Prophet Mohammad by way of Persia.
We may see the same situation in Hinduism. Shivaji could not assume title of Samrat until he paid a pundit to cook up a geneology by Sisodias and conduct the appropriate ceremony by giving a considerable dakshina to Gag Bhatt from Varanasi. Now this ceremony had not been in use probably since Harshavardhana, the last emperor who ruled the entire Gangetic region and a protector of Dharma. So Gag Bhatt had quite the task

In both cases, Muslim or Hindu, we see a claimant to the throne trying to tie himself to a more respectable geneology for credibility.
