Question for Captain Vadakayil fanboys: Why isnt Nehru a Rothschild agent since he had an affair with Edwina Mountbatten

Apparently pretty much any Indian leader who had less than 3 degrees of separation of friendship or camaraderie with an influential British individual is automatically dubbed Rothschild brainwashed traitor by your "exhumer of truths"

Pray tell me then why isn't Nehru who had a romantic affair Edwina Mountbatten (which even the captain admits)  not considered a "desh drohi" against our beloved "watan"?  Once again why this foreign Arabic word to describe our country?

Oh the captain does consider Nehru to be Rothschild INFLUENCED via the Edwina connection(which most serious historians discount as a close emotional bond of two poetic types in the midst of political knuckle fighters but nothing more) but he is more than willing to absolve him any ill intent.  A courtesy and benefit of doubt he doesn't extend to Bose, Savarkar, Gandhi, Ambedkar and umpteen dozen others.

Spare yourself the agony of revisionisms, half truths, lame attempts of salvaging his Kerala countryman VK Menon ,not to mention outright lies, bigotry and propaganda(ie the Vadakayil staple) in that multiple thousand word tripe and just read the more succinct comment.

  1. hi h,

nehru was under the control of edwina of rothschild family too. you cant blame him, for rothschild made him indian PM.

it was nehru's daugher indira gandhi who tried to get out of the clutches of rothschild. british east india company and the banking cartel was rothschild.

the very fact that indira gandhi nationalised the indian banks show that she was a desh bhakt -- for which she paid with her life. sikhs were just pawns in this chess game.

after rajiv gandhi was eliminated -- india went back to the rothschild side again. again LTTE were just pawns.

nehru , rajiv and indira were desh bhakts. indians must never forget this.

    capt ajit vadakayil
    ..

In other words, poor Nehru had no choice but to accept the dictates of Rothschild!(It is never explained what hold exactly they had on him)

As for nationalizing banks, please ask the Indian consumer whether he prefers to bank with ICICI where the friendly and efficient customer service ensures you are in and out with minimum hassle or the State Bank of India where you get the impression that bank tellers are one unkind look away from spitting on you.

Who is willing to bet that Vadakayil has money stashed in HSBC or some other bank founded by British Rothschild Zionist hasbara _______(fill in whatever other enemies of "Bharatamata")
rather than Indian bonds?

Yes we must never forget that desh bhakti of Nehru which gave us the Kashmir fiasco and nearly cost us Hyderabad. We must admire the way he handled the Tibet and China issues. That he sent our army to fight in Korea when it was sorely needed to maintain Tibet as a buffer state.
We should not forget his desh bhakt school of NCERT and JNU which have infested the educational establishment and we are honored with patriotic sermons of the equivalence of Ghori and Chauhan, Aurangzeb and Shivaji, Akbar and Maharana Pratap.

Let us also hail the desh bhakti of Indira Gandhi whose economic policies reduced our country to a destitute and the sick man of Asia but you see this way they brought us closer to Soviet Union and their mode of the economy which was clearer the winner in the long term. Let us also honor her devotion to the country by imposing emergency and plunging the country into a political crisis simply to satiate her egotism. Let us also praise her magnificent handling of the Punjab issue.

Rahul Gandhi of the 1980s , I mean Rajiv Gandhi was an incredibly shrewd political operator with always the best interests of his country at heart. He only made it LOOK like he was intimidated by gangsters on the Shahla Bano case so that he would open the Pandoras box of Babri Masjid/Ramajanambhoomi as sop the Sangh Parivar in the most clumsy way. Ah in the end they botched it, so his plan worked even after his death. Bravo! So a few thousand were killed, you can make an omelet without breaking eggs and all that.
A few naysayers would counter that due to crass insensitivity and cultural ignorance he single handedly cost his party the hitherto loyal Andhra Pradesh. Or that his foray into Sri Lanka was incredibly ill conceived and ended up alienating both Sinhalas and Tamils against the Indian government. There is a term for such people- Rothschild hasbara agents!

Sarcasm aside- seriously what is the criteria for Rothschild INFLUENCED and being a desh bhakt and being a Rothschild BRAINWASHED AGENT and being a traitor. Because I am a bit lost.

Call me silly but it seems to be the captain's arbitrary ,inconsistent and irrational preferences which dictate which category each person would fall into.
Of course it goes without saying that anyone from Kerala is like Caesar's wife(whose reputation was beyond doubt)

I await your response.

    4. Considering the high CAGR of mutual funds like R sponsored HSBC,HDFC etc., I am dead sure that Capt stashes up his money in R's den to get high returns :) He is actually biting the hand that has fed him all the time(his earnings from shipping career) .Now this is not a good Karma to accumulate. It might backfire again, like it did the last time when he was thrown in jail :P
Capt had surely got favours from the Gandhi family in the past.Otherwise only a blind person will sing praises in favour of Nehru and Indira Gandhi. Both of them cared more for their own political careers and their family than the nation. As you have already asked, who was responsible for circulating the bullshit history in NCERT books? Was it not Nehru or Indira Gandhi?Ask Capt and he will blame this on Bhagat Singh,Azad,Savarkar ,Netaji,Gandhi,Morarji Desai,Vajpayee and everyone else except the Gandhi family members. If this is the political wisdom of a messiah, then God bless his minions.
Iniyavel rightly said that Capt sermons against hero worship, yet goes on to do the same with his own icons.
It is a common knowledge in WB that Nehru had eliminated ShyamaPrasad Mukherjee(though not officially proven),due to the latter's staunch protests against partition, abolition of article 370,and saving WB from going to erstwhile east Pakistan.ShyamaPrasad Mukherjee was actually becoming a hard political rival of Nehru even on the national stage, and hence he was killed in custody in J&K.Even Vajpayee had touched this point in 2004 :

      http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Nehru-conspiracy-led-to-Shyama-Prasads-death-Atal/articleshow/768217.cms

After all this we celebrate 14th nov as children's day,and frequently hear lectures on the legacy of Nehru in TV channels and print media !Ofcourse add to this our loving Capt's flow of wisdom.

Most of the destruction of India wasn't by Arab Muslims but by Turks.
Most non Islamic places of worship in the Middle East conquered by Arabs were left intact.

Israel had fulfilled all of its objectives in 2006 against the terrorist Hezbollah but it wrecked the PR campaign and many Arabs who were silently cheering for Israel during that time later started piling on it with the rest of the world and it had to withdraw while Hezbollah declared a victory. Even as Beirut was tattered and beaten and Nassrallah's operational abilites was thorough squashed.

The govt of Afghanistan does look up to India for help but that doesn't necessarily define the attitude of Afghans towards India. In the past Afghans used to visit India frequently to do business .During that time Afghans might have held a better outlook about India. But things are different now.Modi is hated in Pakistan as an anti-Islam leader.I think the same felling should reciprocate among Afghans as well.

He simply refuses to see your point of view. It's futile trying to convince him. Being a Shaivite, he praises Ghori who plundered the Somnath temple. If you point this to him, he'll probably say that since it's a Shiva temple from the north, he doesn't care for it. But if it were a Shiva temple from TN, he would have condemned it vehemently. Prithviraj ruled mainly North Rajasthan and Haryana. He lost Haryana and his own life to Ghori. But most of his kingdom was still intact and defeated all Muslim attempts to conquer.

Heartland of India is Ganges Valley - it was ruled by Jaichand (yes, the traitor who invited Ghori) and Lakshman Sen (who was a weakling) --- it was their defeat which ensured that North India fell under Muzzie rule.

The loss of Prithviraj Chauhan was not solely his own doing. He was commanding a parttime confederacy of armies from a number of kings.Though he was numerically superior to Ghori, but his force lacked the discipline of a single united army. This is where he lost the battle.Add to this Jaichand factor. It's better to know all the facets of a historical event before sending someone to the gallows.I believe Prithviraj had given the best efforts possible.

Bakhtiyar Khalji invaded Lakshman Sen's capital city in the guise of muslim merchants from the west. Then he captured the city.Lakshman Sen had to flee to East Bengal(present Bangladesh). However Lakshman's successors Vishvarupa and Keshava Sena gave Khalji a humiliating defeat when he tried to capture East Bengal.LAkshman Sen was 80 years old when Khalji attacked Bengal. He was incapable of leading an army at that time.
Khalji was finally silenced in Assam. The King of Assam gave him so hard a blow that he had to run for his life with barely a few hundred of his soldiers .Khalji became sick from the depression of this painful Assam defeat and died soon after.
The real problem at that time,as I had already discussed with Sagar and YSV,was that people were loyal to their kings and kingdoms, instead of their nation. This is why I believe that for all the harm Brits had done, their sole good is that they had forced Indians to unite on nationalistic lines.Without the British,I feel India would have been broken into multiple nations at present, pretty much like Europe.

I had a very good Mallu friend in Dubai who was a Catholic. At one point in time he claimed that he and his family were under attack by some demonic forces and I myself was skeptical until I witnessed him behaving in some really odd ways when he used to stay over at my house . He used to wake up in the middle of the night(yes 3AM but also at other times)and just stand with his eyes open sometimes for hours. Yes like in the movie Paranormal Activity. He would have no knowledge of this in the morning. I too would have nightmares when I slept over at his house(but no supernatural occurrence as such). He happened to be a huge heavy metal fans with all the requisite CDs, posters, tshirts that fans tend to accumulate.
His family summoned a priest who instructed him to get rid of all that paraphernalia. He did and all that weird stuff disappeared almost overnight.

Take from this story what you will. But I know what heavy metal is about : twisted nihilistic emotions of rage, hatred, murder, genocide, pedophilia, necrophilia set to an atonal shrieking vocals and music

      What do you expect?

I seriously doubt the Muslim accounts which say that Prithviraj Chauhan had 300,000 horsemen and 500,000 foot soldiers.

Not even Akbar and Sher Shah, who ruled entire North India, had the ability to field more than 100,000 horsemen. So these 300,000 horsemen and half a million foot soldiers seem to be an exaggeration.

More likely is that Prithviraj had 30,000 horses and 50,000 foot soldiers. I think Muzzies just added a zero behind each figure, he he he…simply to magnify their victory.

But Lakshmana Sena is indeed an enigma. Why was it that he took no attempt to prepare for war when Ghori had advanced to Benares? Why did he not appoint any younger princes to lead armies in case of emergency? If only he had acted like Narasimha Deva of Orissa, Islam would not have got a foot-hold in eastern India.

Government of India is much similar to Maratha leadership of 18th century. Maratha high command was so obsessed with invasion from Afghanistan that they neglected growing British threat based in Bengal and ultimately paid for it. Same is happening now – we are obsessed with Pakistan but are neglecting grave dangers from east posed by Bangladesh and China.

We must follow footsteps of Bappa Rawal and Maharaja Ranjit Singh – we must push westwards and aggressively push into enemy territories. Let us all pray and work (to best of our modest ability) so that one day our horses will slake their thirst in waters of Thames in west and Yangtze in east!!!!!!He he he

    48. Prithivraj Chauhan had to wage a war on three fronts -

Ghori and Jaichand invaded him from east and west. At same time, another enemy of Chauhan named Bhimdeo Solanki of Gujarat invaded from south

Its not clear whether he was allied with Jaichand and Ghori - some accounts say he was, but most likely he was not because he is no mentioned anywhere as a traitor.

Chauhan was not only supported by his vassal Tomar prince of Delhi but also got support from Rajasthan, Malwa and Bundelkhand. But even this support proved inadequate in face of three front war.

    49. Mahmud could not conquer North India because Hindu princes united under great leaders like Bhojraj of Ujjain and Vidyadhar of Kalinjar.

Mahmud had tried to beat Vidydhar thrice but had to retreat without success. He was not even willing to fight Bhojraj who was marching into Gujarat to avenge Sack of Somnath and ran away.

But his headstrong son Masud wanted to conquer India.

His son Salar Masud asked for help from rulers of Iran and Central Asia to wage jihad and conquer Hindu infidels of North India. He could rally a force of 100,000 Mujahideen – 50,000 of whom were cavalry.

Once more Bhojraj rallied all princes of North India – a confederacy of seventeen Hindu princes brought together an army of 100,000 Hindu warriors. They appointed Raja of Sravasti named Suheldev as commandant of confederate Hindu troops.

Hindu Rajputs and Muslim Turks met at Bharaich in 1033 near Indo-Nepal border.

Entire Muslim force was defeated but Suheldev made sure that defeated force was surrounded and slaughtered to the last – Even Masud himself was killed in action.

Turks made less ambitious efforts to expand into North India – but all those efforts were defeated by Hindu princes who always united to face Turks.

Ancestors of Prithviraj like Vigraharaj Chauhan and Aronraj Chauhan had defeated and slaughtered invading Turk armies.

But in 1192, due to treason of Jaichand and short sight of Bhimdev, Turks succeeded.

"But Lakshmana Sena is indeed an enigma. Why was it that he took no attempt to prepare for war when Ghori had advanced to Benares?" - Indeed that's a historical enigma. One possible reason might be that Lakshmana Sena was 80 years old by that time and his mental alertness was not sharp enough by then. However as you said,he should have allowed his sons to do the military work. His sons were surely competent enough,as they gave a crushing defeat to Khalji in East Bengal.

"I seriously doubt the Muslim accounts which say that Prithviraj Chauhan had 300,000 horsemen and 500,000 foot soldiers." - Even if he had so many soldiers,Ghori's victory is not something incredible.Prithviraj Chauhan had to unite armies of different kings and princes into one mega alliance. There was a general lack of discipline in the approach of the allied Indian army.Babur had only 12000 soldiers to face 10 times stronger army of Lodhi in Panipat. However Babur was a far better tactician and had the advantage of a few cannons which Lodhi didn't .Thus he routed the army of Lodhi.Such examples are plenty in history, right from the Battle of Thermophylae to the 1972 battle of Longewala outpost in Indo-Pak war.

"I am seriously concerned about my brethren in Assam and West Bengal – will they meet the same fate as Afghan and Kashmiri Hindus?" - Assam will not become Kashmir anytime soon, but on Bengal I can't say. However original West Bengal Muslims are not as bigotic or headstrong as the rest of the North Indian Muslims.Infact WB muslims do not even have strong religious sentiments like their North Indian brethren. Many muslims have joined WB Bjp since the rise of Modi wave from 2014.So in WB there were no major communal flare-ups after the Direct Action Day in 1946.For all the harm the communist rule had done to WB,the sole good was that they didn't allow any divide of society on communal politics, atleast not in a major way like Congress or BJP does in other states.

Inherent indiscipline and lack of strategy of Indian armies is a 19th century British invention. Many of our great victories were work of confederate armies (over Huns, Arabs, and Ghaznavids)
Defeat of Chauhan was not because he commanded a confederate army or smaller army but because he made of mistake of not pursuing Turks once they were forced to flee.
So what happened? Chauhan thought that Turks had fled and so he had won. Thus he and his army slept that night.
Meanwhile, Turks regrouped some forty miles away and launched a night attack on sleeping Rajput army. Rest you know.
Chauhan himself was not a good general thought a bold fighter. His earlier victory over Ghori was due to a general named Skanda. But during second battle with Ghori, Skanda was not present.

There should be no question of tolerating Abrahamic religions. You cannot make any kind of deal with religions whose mission is to wage war of extermination on other faiths. Our policy towards Abrahamic religions should be clear – they should cease to exist. Their followers must be re-educated so that they will be freed from hate filled thoughts.

    66. Origin of Muslim population in East Bengal (Bangladesh) is very very interesting. Before 1576, it was a thinly populated area. But then course of river Ganga change ----- earlier Ganga had flown into Bay of Bengal through what is not Indo-Bangladesh border.

Then in 1574, she changed course and merged with Brahmaputra (her present course). As a result, East Bengal became easily accessible to North Indians.

Now what Mughals did - area is now open to North Indians and and so North Indian Muslim migrants were encouraged to settle there and farm (means more revenue for Mughals). They settled, farmed and multiplied.

I wish Ganga had not changed her course in 1576..............................

    67. Interesting . Sagar would you know what were the dynamics for the Pala conquest of northern India(roughly traversing the path of the Ganga) all the way upto Afghanistan. How come this dynasty rised like meteor from Bengal and fell to the Kamboja(from Afghanistan) and Sena generals in the Pala army(from Karnataka).

Around the same time Rajaraja Chola was invading Bengal to acquire Ganga water for his Gangaikonda cholapuram project

And this also coincided with the rise of the Eastern GANGA dynasty.
Whats going on ,why did everyone have Ganga on their mind all of a sudden?

    68. Conquer Ganga basin then you become custodian of holy spots like Ayodhya, Kasi, Prayag and Mathura. And Ganga herself is the holiest river. So you gets great prestige by controlling this tract.

And it was also one of the biggest concentration of population too. (Big population in those days meant big revenue supply) --- that means you become rich and powerful too.

Also Ganga basin was (and is still) seen as heartland of Bharatavarsha. Back then, conquest of Meerut to Benares area was a stepping stone to domination of entire India.

Since time of Harshavardhana, rulers of Bengal always had ambitions to dominate North India. One of the biggest enemies of Harsha was Sasanka of Bengal. But with advent of Dharmapala, the old desire was fulfilled, even though only for a short-while.

I think rise of Kambojas and Senas must be similar to what happened in Mysore in 18th century. How Hyder Ali, who started as a career soldier ended up as dictator of Mysore and effectively ended Hindu rule there.

The problem is that this sect Wahhabis managed to capture the holy cities and has access to billions of dollars where they spew venom against non Muslims and Muslims alike

This is not absolve Islam of its misdeeds and indeed there is a certain degree of intolerance and iconoclasm in the Quran itself but those have to be taken into context as more a socio political than religion statement fitting into that particular time and place
However if more and more Muslims wish to subscribe to the more fundamentalist version of Islam ie kill the infidels ,smash their statues and enslave their women then there is no point in me bothering with helping this religion as I have my own to think about(my first priority).

But we did beat Chinese in 1967 and freed Sikkim

Firstly corporations giant or otherwise are a democracy of sorts because they have millions of shareholders, people like you and me but especially our grandpas with their pension funds.
A corporation that doesn't heed its shareholders desire for profit doesn't last very long and it may indulge in illegal and immoral acts to acquire it.

Im not aware of a corporation with 300% or 100% profit at least on the long term.

Might we not apply that same maxim to government power as well. Why is government tyranny absent any corporate influence(places like North Korea for instance) so much better than corporate tyranny?

As for social and economic inequality, aside from artificially induced inequalities from racism, religious bigotry, casteism, nepotism, favoritism, welfare states, socialism, communism, crony capitalism/mercantilism I am not bothered at all with inequalities.

Human beings are born unequal and therefore you cannot expect equal achievements . There is always a higher and lower. Best you can do is alleviate by giving everyone equal opportunity without MANDATING equal results.

Abrahamic religions may be intolerant but look at their neighborhood. The Assyrians proudly boast about flaying neighboring kings alive, breaking open their tombs and exposing the bones to the sun. They gloat in breaking the temples of their rival kingdoms.

The Zoroastrian Persians ran a slave state by means of cruelty, oppression and torture. Event the soldiers were often chained to each other. They were not above destroying other nations sanctities when it suited them.

Meanwhile the Romans single handedly destroyed the entire Druid culture because they though it seditious. Druids had rich traditions of mysticism similar to tantra. Indeed they may have been influence by Vedic seers

The Romans also sought to eliminate Judaism and destroyed their temple and sold about 1/3rd of the population of Judea into slavery.

Please note all the above oppressors were Pagan who had no moral codes against enemies whatsoever.

To them tolerating or eliminating another religion was simply a matter of politics

There is a great deal of idolization of the poor. I don't think there is anything superior morally about being destitute. Poverty is terrible. It is a source of indignity, superstition, degradation, squalor, prostitution, violent crime and yes slavishness.

I am not aware of anyone lynching people for stating there is more to life than money! Where do you get this?

If anything that is all I hear on pretty much all media outlets usually by an already rich person such as Rajnikanth or Oprah talking about how important it is to be humble and "have values". And these are usually the same people who agitate for higher taxes on the middle classes and talk nonsense about "big corporations"

What bullshit. These rich people made their fortunes by basically being dancing monkeys for the entertainment of the masses and they feel guilty or embarrassed by the means to which they attained their riches and so by imposing a more stringent lifestyle on the masses(not so much themselves) they get some cheap applause and feel superior

You mentioned that you have an HTC phone of 47000 Rs, isn't that greed? Why don't sell it ,give the money to the poor and be happy with a Nokia 3310 (circa 2002)

Greed is a very subjective term. And socialists are notorious to keep shifting the definition of the upper class in order to squeeze more and more taxes so those semantic don't fool me.

  9. Future Worldwide Depopulation is no joke. If children produced per woman is below 2.1, then there will be no replacement fertility.

Then what happens? Population starts to decline as deaths exceed births. And this is already happening in many developed countries and the trend is spreading worldwide.

Once population collapses, revenue of State will fall and result will be reduction of size of government (I mean civil service, military and so on) --- This will be because few humans --- less consumption -- less production --- less profit - in short less money.

I dont consider Communism as opposed to Capitalism. Truth is that COMMUNISM IS THE HIGHEST AND MOST TERRIBLE FORM OF CAPITALISM! A condition where a whole area's wealth and human resource is at the mercy of a few hundreds of Bolsheviks.

Since when did world start to become a horrible place?

Its not that man by nature is a destructive creature. Man becomes destructive the moment, this thing called "civilization" comes into being.

Civilization arose five thousand years back in river valleys of Nile, Yangtze, Euphrates and Indus and spread all over world.

But civilization had serious corrupting influence on human character - Destructive behavior resulted from stress that was created by parasitism and greed of ruling classes that had become addicted to other people's wealth - either by plunder or tax or forcible labor. Whole set up was based on artificial inequality.

World was already a terrible place. But it became even more horrible when Abrahamic religions came. Christianity and Islam was motivated by a desire for total control of man's mind and body - all aspects of your life would be controlled by guardians of faith in accordance to religious law.

For Assyrian or Roman, religious persecution was done only in some specific situations. But for Abrahamics, religious fanaticism was to be a systematic policy that should be applied to everyone until each and every person on planet is converted.

Result? Tyranny was taken to new heights by Abrahamics.

Soon fate of Japan will be the fate of whole world. World will be overflowing with oldies . Collapse of productive culture are a real shame and matter of regret. But what can we do? By end of this century, Islamic world will be full of old men with long grey beards while large parts of world will already be depopulated.

If you read histories of world civilizations, go could see population rise associated with birth and growth phases of a civilization while decline of birth rate and depopulation is always associated with decay and death phases of a civilization.

Every civilization will have to go through this phase - But tragic part is that people rarely bother about how to successfully pass through the cycle of decline and death and then have a successful rebirth.

But why worldwide depopulation? That is because Western conquest of world by mid 19th century led to spread of Western values across earth - in effect, unifying the whole world for first time intellectually and economically. So any trend that originates in Western Europe and North America will spread all over the globe.

Why are we eating poisoned food? (Laced with insecticides and fertilizers?)

Why is it that there is no effort at developing crops that are resistant to pests and dont need tonnes of chemical manure? (In spite of all scientific progress?)

You buy tonnes of chemicals as manure and insecticide - Who benefits from it?

I think you can easily guess the influence these 'beneficiaries' have in corridors of power.

But that is exactly what is being done by GM companies! Granted they don't always succeed and their monopoly needs to be broken as ysv mentioned. GM is the practical application of scientific research that you talked about.

Regarding manure, note that no amount of GM will replace the function of manure which provides nitrogen for the growing plant.

By the time developing countries begin depopulation, Japan, EU etc would have a stable, low population. The entire world will go through depopulation in stages but it won't be an apocalyptic event. Afterwards, the world will be a better place with lower population.

Before 1960, most farmers in India did not spent money buying chemical manure and fertilizers - they used what was locally and abundantly available, like cow-dung, dried leaves, ash etc.

But what is happening today? A good part of agricultural incomes is spent on chemical manures and insecticides. So called modern breed of crops simply wont survive unless you pump cartloads of manure and whole barrels of insecticide.

And what makes traditional Indian crops and livestock superior? They are far more resistant to pests and need far less manure than the newly developed crop varieties.

So what should have been a more agricultural sensible policy? To preserve the capital free farming but at the same time improve on our traditional breed of crops and livestock for higher yield.

But what did we do instead? We did our best to destroy old pattern of viable agriculture and thousands of traditional breeds of crops and livestock and instead replaced it with an unsustainable "scientific modern agriculture" and "modern superior breeds".

      Delete
    6. I know a few old people who were farmers and things were not that great back in the time. Immediately after independence, there was a lot of poverty and starvation. Farmers are not forced to buy fertilizers or pesticides and yet they do. But I agree that lack of genetic diversity among crops can cause widespread famine. This happened in the Irish crop failure.

      Delete
    7. @Prem Chand

Poverty of Indian farmer before 1950's was due to exploitative tax imposed by Brits (farmer had to pay 50 percent of his produce's value as land tax and 10 percent as lease to zamindar). Abolition of exploitative tax and zamindari system were good moves, but what followed as not a matter of joy.

Farmers are forced to buy poisons as manure and insecticides --- Bcoz modern high yielding crops wont survive without these poisons. Compared to that ancient crop varieties were remarkably resilient and dont need so much manuring.

Same can be said about livestock too. Native Indian livestock are less expensive to maintain and less vulnerable to diseases.

Speaking of cows, in olden days, even sterile cows and bulls were not sold to butchers --- their dung was used properly. But now? Chemical manures are dominating the scene and cattle are no longer seen as source of free manure. Cattle are sold to butchers once they are sterile.

Many of our local cow breeds had been bred in order to help agriculture - their milk may be low in yield but is of high quality. And you dont need vast ranches like the ones in Brazil and USA. All you need is to feed them hay and similar agricultural byproducts.

      Delete
    8. yeah Sagar I agree with your points here.

      Delete
    9. @ Sagar M sorry I disagree

First we need to define what is meant by a famer. Is it the humble serf, the small scale cultivator with a small patch of land or the zamindar of large holdings. Quite a few zaminders of sat shudra communities such as Kamma and Reddy call themselves farmer even if they never lifted a plough as it is considered a noble profession. Same goes for the prosperous Jats of the north.

Let us talk of the small to medium farmer. This farmer may find it is cheaper and more convenient to buy synthetic fertilizer than manure from cows which is more labor intensive and perhaps more expensive. Yes they do sell literally bullshit LOL

So he may see fertilizers as a better deal. That goes many fold for the zamindars.

Now as for pesticides, there is a flip side to living in a fertile country like India where the soil is rich and the produce abundant with relatively little effort. It is said it is not lacking in insect life, Some insects are desirable , however many are not. We do not as of now have naturally occurring crops which are resistant to pests and it seems that much of our knowledge of homegrown organic manner of dealing with pests may be lost.
Indeed I suspect in the famines of the 1700-1900s that raged across India which facilitated rural exodus to the urban centres(which in a smaller scale continues to this day) a lot of the aforementioned knowledge was lost.
It is interesting that very little of the shastras deal with agriculture seeing how India was famous for its produce throughout the past millennia.

And there is no hard evidence that crops grown from GM ,pesticides or chemical manure in general are in any way inferior to those of organic method of farming.
Indeed organic is not all its cracked upto be with quite a few customers falling sick in the U.S due to consumption in organic food ,due to lack of pesticides which spoiled the produce.

As for cows, most of the cows in India are pretty badly treated and go around eating garbage and seem pretty malnourished. For a country which claims to be particularly sympathetic to cows, I find this hypocrisy to be quite galling.

    10. @YSV

Reason why there was massive decline in traditional pattern of agriculture was because of propaganda conducted by Government of India. It was propagated that agriculture can progress only if old patterns of agriculture, crops and livestock are replaced with modern breeds and modern methods.

Cow-dung is not expensive. You feed cow mainly with hay which is byproduct of grain cultivation. Whether or not cow gives you milk, it definitely gives you dung!! he he he. But since 1960's use of cow dung, a widely and freely available manure -- exceedingly effective and eco-friendly manure too --- had been ignored to promote chemical fertilizers

Farmer must be either a landowner or tenant. He must supervise farming and know well about agriculture. We can definitely rule out laborers from this category. As for big zamindars, the title of farmer can be given to him if he mainly depends on income from land.

Yes you are absolutely right about swift decay of organic food. Many farm produce decay and spoil due to lack of preservation and storage facilities.

Earth and water in countryside is heavily polluted due to use of chemicals in agriculture. It is also adversely affecting ecological balance. Also eating poison is not good for human health too.

Use of chemical insecticides actually drive up cost of agriculture. How? Pests become resistant to pesticides and eventually you have increase the dose. Finally dose become so high that you end up eating poison and destroy entire ecology. Needless to say that more pesticides means more money spent.

So there is no alternative to pest resistant crops in long run.

Ever wondered why farm labor is not paid well?

In spite of increase in yield, actual profit had not risen because modern methods have also increased cost of production too (machines, electricity, pesticides, fertilizers and so on).

So you dont have anything really left to give good wages to your workers.

      Delete
    11. @Sagar

It is a fact that China and US produce more food using less land and labour than India due to modern methods.

Insecticides should be used judiciously, like antibiotics. This is a basic law of natural selection. The current problems with pest population is due to volume of food produced, rather than methods.

Environmental pollution happens more often due to improper waste disposal and releasing tannery waste into water bodies. Pollution from pesticides is negligible and easily manageable.

      Delete
    12. Pests develop resistance to the amount of pesticide and so you will be forced to increase doses over years.

In USA farms are immense size. For them even a fifty acre farm is small in size! Their manpower is comparatively (repeat comparatively) limited and so they do not have any alternative expect heavily mechanized farming.

In India, farm size is extremely small with a huge rural population. So American style mechanization wont work for us.

Yes, you are right, we need to modernize, but we should come up with an Indian style modernization rather than copying uncritically.

      Delete
    13. Of course pests develop resistance. This is not just unique to farm vermin but also household cockroaches etc which is why every practically every other year a new formula for insect spray is released.

So you don't up your dosage you simply get new ones or better yet pest resistant crops

Now there is always a downside like there is to everything. Nothing is 100% perfect, you make a cost benefit analysis and proceed with your choice.

Even taking into account U.S larger area and smaller population engaged in agriculture(less than 4%) their whether per person or per acre is on net greater than India's.
Hardly any prosperous countries have their majority population engaged in agriculture. Let us respect farmers and the magic they can with the soil and celebrate the romanticism of creating sustenance but let us also keep things in perspective.

Of course India would require a different approach but for how long will we continue this Gandhian luddite approach to the economy where we only think the unemployment caused by mechanization and modernization.
Change and pain is inevitable in a new era. When the automobile was first introduced, in some U.S cities the, horse rearers and carriage makers rioted because of the threat that this new mode of conveyance posed to their livelihood.
Now no body cares about them. As cold as I sound I say if some rural poor have to die off because they have no other skill then so be it, it is for the greater good of the country. I don't mean that in a Stalinist way obviously but that they are the unfortunate victims of inevitability of progress.

    15. I have not condemned modernization and mechanization --- I have clearly mentioned the need of modernization (in a way that suits local Indian conditions). I would not have supported the need for high yielding crops which can be cultivated at a lower production cost if I were anti-modern.

    16. Call me a socialist, but I think the state should atleast prevent the death of farmers during thin times. I believe that would pass the cost-benefit analysis since farmer's lives are human lives too. Remember Indian kings used to have surplus crops in the treasury to be used to make porridge and distributed among the poor during times of drought.

    17. @ PremChand and Others

At the time of Independence I think India should have made agriculture the driving force of the economy.Industry had been chosen as the driving force, with the net result being that on one hand agriculture has remained massively labour-intensive sans any modernisation with relatively lesser GDP share like in all 3rd world countries, while on the other side India couldnt even progress in becoming a manufacturing oriented economy .Just 18% of GDP is from agri and nearly 60% of the population depends on this sector.Choosing industry as driving force has ensured that we are stuck between agri and manufacturing in a deadlock, even after 60 years of independence.PremChand While I agree with you that govt should extend help to farmers in tough times, the need for such help is still there only because of the lack of mechanisation of agriculture in India. So as Sagar said, modernisation while keeping Indian context in mind is the way out.And along with this the surplus agri labour population which might lose job due to modernisation, should have a strong manufacturing sector to enter into. This is where Indian economy lags.

      Delete
    18. The Indian govt did indeed stimulate agriculture with the Green revolution, whatever else they lagged in. Lack of investment and modernization happened partly because of the nature of property ownership which was progressively divided among the heirs into smaller and smaller fields. I don't understand what is the Indian context which requires different method of modernization.

    19. While Sagar has far more knowledge on this topic,I am giving my own POV.India is the largest milk producing nation in the world with a large number of cows in farms.Research on cowdung based biofertilisers and natural insectisides ,along with their implementation among Indian farmers in their suited ways, might help agriculture in the near future. The same technology of modernisation which is used in the first world nations might not be feasible in Indian setup.THis is not because India cannot produce that technology but for the fact that the cost of technology might be an overkill for small farmers.

      Delete
    20. The solution is not to perpetuate the situation with small farmers, but to aggregate lands and use combine harvesters. The small level farmers can move to manufacturing or other industries which I hope will be stimulated with the end of Fabian socialism.

Dairy cows have been bred mostly to produce milk rather than manure. We cant expect high quality of both products from the same farm animal. Fertilizers work on the same principles as natural manure, so I don't see what the hang-up is with using them.

    21. @ Prem chand I wont call you a socialist since what you are talking is emergency measures in case of a famine. And that is the one of the governments prime functions.

I am just talking about saving (relatively) few farmers by sacrificing future development and diversification of the economy not to mention greater yields

    23. Lack of modernization was/is not due to small size of farm. It was because our esteemed government of India has hardly done anything to provide a top quality school education to our masses. Let me tell you an often neglected truth – No country will develop economically and technologically if its population is not provided with best education, especially vocational education.

During Soviet rule, Stalin forcibly united small landholdings into giant farms but each family was allotted a plot for their personal cultivation. Then what happened?

Productivity of giant farms fell whereas these personal plots were so high and contributed so much to agricultural output that it was deemed unwise to add these personal plots to giant farms. Clearly, Soviet experience has shown that giant farms are not essentially productive.

Nor do I see any wisdom in sacrifice of people who are loyal to government and nationhood, when there are many who are real traitors undermining India.

You understood my point. As far as cows are concerned, our strong point is that we have huge hardy population of cows that dont need much care and expense like the imported ones.

If we could make them relevant to farming (as a source of manure), then we can make sure that cattle rearing and farming are not separated. In case of India where pastures are very few, we definitely should not opt for a separation between farming and cattle rearing.

      @PRem Chand

How could you breed dairy cows in American style? Do we have ranches that extend for hundreds of thousands of square kilometers? Let me assure you, we can never develop a large scale American style dairy breeding simply because we don’t have space for that.

As for quality of milk and dung – please don’t have such a lowly opinion about livestock! Truth is exact opposite.

Fertilizers don’t work on same principle as natural organic manure. Organic manure break downs completely. But chemicals don’t – they accumulate steadily. They will exist as independent entities in soil and water – and that is not good for soil health.

    26. Many Indians always wonder why India is still backward in economic field and technology.

They still have not yet reached a consensus – So I guess India will not become a “Great Power” he he he

      My thoughts ----

      Key words-

      1. Best education
      2. Freedom of enterprise

If government back in 1950 had put considerable effort into establishment of a good school education system (like the ones in Western Europe, North America, Israel and Japan)

If government had not strangulated free enterprise in the name of socialism, India would have become a manufacturing super-power with production occurring in small scale and medium industrial units. It would have also given the excessive agricultural population an alternate livelihood.

And it would be worth remembering that small and medium enterprises are the backbone of even developed economies.

The giant farms in Soviet were owned by the state which meant the farmers had no incentive to increase productivity of the farms. What I want is the China/US model where large farms are owned by individual farmers. This cannot be directly imposed by the state, but should be a consequence of increased activity in the manufacturing sector and mechanization of farming.

Better education is the result, not just cause of increased economic activity. How will a poor farmer or artisan send his kids to school, if they can earn the daily bread during that time?

Dairy industry can be a subsidiary of farming without any feedback in the form of dung. I repeat chemical fertilizer is more efficient than dung and there is no evidence that it pollutes the environment. If it did, US and China would be a wasteland by now. May I point out that fermented dung releases methane which is a very effective greenhouse gas.

While the quality of milk from Indian cows is excellent, dung is not designed for the purpose of manuring farms.

Chemical fertilizers like ammonium nitrate are simple compounds, so they also break down easily. Besides, crop rotation must be practiced regularly by Indian farmers.

    28. It is extremely difficult for a person without technical or professional qualification to become a part of a modern industrialized society.

How do you increase manufacturing and mechanization when bulk of population hardly possess basic education? - especially technical and vocational?

It is not the job of poor to educate their kids. If Government has any sense, they will pump life into the ailing state run education system.

Let me give you a good example ---

Stalin set up huge factories and giant farms in Russia and made Russia a super power? But how in the world did a nation of peasants become a people skilled in industrial work?----------That happened because Soviet rulers showed common sense to invest in universal education and thus produced a huge reserve of manpower trained in technical education.

      Delete
    29. It is not the job of poor to educate their kids- correct, but what I was talking about happens even with free education and free lunch no less. Even free education for the kids does not supplement the income of a family that is starving. Let us not use Stalinism as a comparison at all since Stalin was willing to let 1% of his population starve to death as a cost for implementing his plan of industrialization.

"Better education is the result, not just cause of increased economic activity." - I beg to differ.Better education is the result of economic growth in some cases, but in many other situations in 3rd world countries, initial boost to education is absolutely necessary to create a manufacturing oriented economy.India got the boost in education but its educated mass has been working in services more than in manufacturing.India is actually the only economy in the world which has jumped from agri to services without the manufacturing growth in between. This was possible only because the govt had decided to spend generously on education infrastructure after 1947.Otherwise India would have remained an agri economy .

I agree that without investing in education, economic growth is impossible. But spending on education alone is not enough. Remember Kerala has >90% literacy rate, but what use if all that brainpower is not helping the state's economy?

      Delete
    32. @ Prem Chand

that's because Kerala is not a free economy.Free economy + educational base is a strong combination for a future manufacturing economy.

    1. Wow that's disturbing. Thanks Prem Chand for doing the work I often shudder to do!

I wonder if this is a response to my recent post or his usual spamming on repeat auto pilot.

Honestly after reading some of these captains posts, I often want to take a shower and scrub myself clean. What is it with his penchant for such pornographic detail. Long story short: the captain is just a dirty old man

That aside, I am not a fan of Mountbatten but there is zero evidence for him being a pedophile.

I think the Edwina Nehru sexual affair is bunch of rumor mongering. From the content of the letters I recollect, there is not much indication of a torrid passionate affair but one of gentle affection and respect.
If Nehru had been a good PM I couldn't care less about his extracurricular activities as long as he kept them discreet.
I have no illusions about people in power being saints, I am usually satisfied if they are not monsters.

Capt surely peeps into your blog :) I am damn confident about this.My perception powers has increased after so long an association with Capt :-P

I think the nehru-edwina angle is not a rumour. It is a fact that Nehru used to shy away and duck questions on his relationship with Edwina. However I agree with your POV that leaders need not be saints.Ofcourse a saint is more desirable as a leader but moral sainthood might not directly contribute to the quality of leadership.
The problem,as you have said,is that Nehru was a corrupt and incompetent guy, hence even his minor faults are exaggarated .

    12. From those posts I see the captain is slowly descending into senile dementia. If you compare his earlier blogs from say 2010, they were still rather odd but atleast they were coherent and you got a sense that they author was attempting to convey something based on sort of evidence and reasoning though not always succeeding.

But since his arrest in 2014 he has especially thrown all prudence and judgement(whatever was remaining) to the wind and just spews out his train of thought on his and other peoples blogs.

His bootlickers and cult zombie followers have really inflated his ego to the extant that he cant differentiate between truth and fiction.

And again weird claims about Interstellar being based on the Vedas. Really in which mandala does it state that Indian drones would fly over American skies or that explorers would land on a planet with frequent mega tsunamis.

Thanks for sharing the article.Akbar theory is the most accepted one on the origins of the present day bengali calender.Another theory says that it was started by Alauddin Husain Shah who combined the Muslim Lunar calender with the Hindu solar one.

Quoting from the Facebook page "The Frustrated Indian" :

" You are 40 something professional, expert in your field, very successful and followed by many as a person to be. But you have started from humble background, vernacular education set up, very disciplined and traditional to orthodox set up. A complete no nonsense guy.
Suddenly you see 20 something son of your senior colleague, who is an Elite (boarding) school educated, flamboyant, popular among girls, charming yet mischievous, British accented English speaking boy who talks theoretical things convincingly and you get impressed by him. Wow, this is called youth and you rate him higher than other people in his age group who are more deserving and hardworking but from relatively simple background, probably more like you when you were young.
‪#‎Gandhi‬'s Preference of Nehru over likes of Patel and Bose.
