Chanakya and Krishna as management consultants

I found this humorous write up more than 10 years ago online. The website which carried it indiawww.com is now defunct but let us honor their memory by enjoying one of their greatest hits.

CHANAKYA is India's third most famous management consultant. The most worshipped is Krishna because he was also a philosopher. He guided Pandava Trust Ltd., which was a garage enterprise of five brothers, for 14 years and had no venture capital support. Krishna produced a superb report and saw that it was implemented. He led Pandava Trust to global success. Krishna was also history's only online management consultant; he was always in touch with reality wherever it happened. . The second famous consultant was Krishna's rival in the Mahabharata war for market supremacy, Shakuni. He guided Kaurava Pvt Ltd, a family enterprise that had grown into a large corporate and feudal empire. Kauravas not only refused to subcontract to the Pandava start-up, but also had the enterprise evicted. Shakuni was not a philosopher; he had no long-range vision. That is, he had an extensive database, good software, and knowledgeable deep links, but he lacked wisdom. Information and knowledge are insufficient tools unless backed by wisdom. So Shakuni and his clients lost the market war.

Both these consultants are so far back in India's past that they are almost mythology. India's first modern management consultant was Chanakya, in the fourth century B.C. He was humiliated by Nanda, the boss of the then largest corporation in northern India - Magadha Inc. Incensed, Chanakya vowed to destroy Nanda.
He looked for a start-up or a skilled youngster who could be trained to take on and defeat Nanda. He found Chandragupta Maurya. Eventually, Chandragupta defeated Nanda and took over Magadha Inc. and expanded it considerably under Chanakya's guidance. Magadha Inc. was also the first Indian enterprise to have a tie-up with a foreign multinational - the Greek empire which had been launched by Alexander the Great. Chandragupta clinched the deal by marrying a Greek princess of the Seleucid subsidiary of the Greek empire. This Greek beauty brought the five-yard saree into India.
Chanakya was the world's first hands-on consultant. That is, he implemented the ideas that his brilliant brain was generating by becoming Magadha Inc.'s chief executive officer, or prime minister. He was what may be called 'a practising theorist'. He invented 'realpolitik', a word that was coined almost 2,000 years later in Bismarck's Germany. Chanakya was machiavellian much over a thousand years before Niccolo Machiavelli was born and lent his name to skullduggery in relations between empires, states and businesses.
Chanakya's magnum opus Arthashastra, or "How to Make Friends and Enemies and Win Empires", has remained a best-seller over two millennia. But, like most literary classics, everyone has heard of it; few have read it. To corporate bosses and foreign ministry bureaucrats, Arthashastra should be what MP3 is to youngsters. Alas, they haven't shown much zest in downloading it.

  2. YSV thanks for this . A hilarious and unique post after many serious topics and discussions :)

I feel two other mythological management experts whom we should remember were Sage Agastya and Hanuman :) Ofcourse never forget Tenali Raman and Birbal, who imparted quite some offtrack consulting to their respective kings in their own ways :)

"This Greek beauty brought the five-yard saree into India. " - YSV does this mean that the saree was of greek origin?I couldn't catch the point here.

"But, like most literary classics, everyone has heard of it; few have read it." - I did read it in the bong translation.(I haven't learnt sanskrit yet).It is one of a kind. With a little bit of scaling up and slight remodelling in presentation, the Artha Shastra can still become a best seller all over the world.
Arthashastra should be a school textbook, atleast in highschool level,in all Indian schools.

    1. @JAM, I too remember reading somewhere that the saree was a creation of the Greek wife of Chandragupta Maurya. I wonder why everything is credited to the Europeans.

BTW, JAM & YSV did you read the ridiculous article "Krishna is a communist" by Sri Sri Ravishankar which was later deleted from his AOL site?

    2. Actually the article is not bad in itself. It targets the atheism of communist philosophy.Infact Anu thanks for sharing this.I enjoyed reading it.

I agree with the author when he says that the major drawback of communism is their non-belief for religion.I always hold the view that a religion is not bad in itself. It is humans who twist it for their own purposes and thereby bring a bad impression to it.

However I think that while Krishna might be credited for enforcing communism ,the real communism in my views was the Rama Rajya of Lord Rama. However here I will be impartial,ie,I think it was possible for Ram to establish Rama Rajya only because the epoch was Treta. In the Dwapara yuga Krishna had to deal with a greater amount of human degradation than Rama of the Treta yuga. And add to this the fact that the war of Mahabharata marked the end of Dwapar and the beginning of Kali.So we can't expect a Rama Rajya from Krishna in that phase.

As pointed out in this article,I agree to the fact that the modern communists should not feel allergic to religion. My view is that communism should also promote equality of belief,ie,the theist and atheist should live under the same roof without any problems.

I don't know about the communists of Kerala. The lesser I speak about Bengal communists the better. They didn't have a problem expelling their Hindu comrades of lower grades from the party and showcausing or fining incase of higher ones like leaders for visiting temples but the same intensity wasn't visible in case of minority religions .And I don't know how Sikhs can get into Communist party, because Sikhs by default represent their religion with their turbans,if I am not wrong. So much for the ideology of Bengal CPM :P

    3. The article is further proof that Sri^infinity Ravi Shankar is not interested in a dispassionate discourse on Vedic learning but simply wishes to package Hinduism into modern ideologies to market to dim witted but prosperous Western acolytes.

He has some nerve to talk about greed when at his ashram living quarters despite the considerable daily expense, you have to pay extra for soap and towels!

    4. Saree is most likely an ancient clothing. There are indications in Mahabharat where the clothing that Dushasan attempted to pull of Draupadi was a saree

But it possible the saree underwent a fashion revision after encounters with Greek women and their unique also (mostly) unstiched clothing

I do not have even the minutest liking for Ravishankar .But after reading the article I felt that Ravishankar had tried to convey the fact to the modern communists that ancient Indian civilization had more communism than Marxists will ever imagine.

But to be frank,I don't like Shrey Goyal, because of his indifference to religion, glory of ancient Indian civilizations and such other things.

However that does not make him a foreign funded desh-drohi,hasbara or Zionist in my eyes :)

YSV's writing style is a very enriching blend of scientific modernity with respect for ancient wisdom ,something I have found utterly lacking in Shrey Goyal(or even Capt for that matter).

In plain words,I hate it when ultra-modern educated Hindus(like Shrey Goyal but there are other netizens who fare worse than him) show a lack of respect for our religion.

The rape threats were given indirectly by one of his acolytes in other places on the net.I think you will find them in IHM's blog and Nandita Iyer etc. When the fallout between Capt and these women bloggers happened, the arguments between the two warring sides were much more ugly and abusive. Now some of the comments might have been filtered by either the commenters or the bloggers.

    7. "like he's the master of the Universe ..." - hmmm recently Capt did claim that his blog has a minor role to play in the arrival and manifestation of the Kalki phenomena :) By that logic, even rothschild might have a role to play, considering the fact that Capt can't even think anything beyond R .

Your mother is probably right in her opinion about Capt.He is so much of a hypocrite that he can send his son to study in a R university abroad. In that case R or zionism doesn't matter, rather his son's career is more important. And in his blog he trolls about zionism,Cornell being a R univ, everyone else on earth is an R agent except Capt and his acolytes and so on....

Actually Capt falls in the whirlwind of R logic set by himself and doesn't care a damn about it.From this I think he was not originally very serious about the things he propagates, but the constant worship of his dear acolytes have actually forced him to change his stance.I really miss the Capt of 2011-12 :)

    12. yeah I agree with that :)

Actually I think we are nowhere near to the end of Kali yuga as is being envisioned by many all-pervasive bloggers. We are probably in the golden age of ten thousand years within Kali Yuga, which started 5000 years back with the Mahabharate war and will continue for another 10,000 years.According to some Vaishnava philosophies this golden age has ticked off with the birth of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, some other philosophies say that the first 10,000 years of Kali yuga starting from the Mahabharata War mark golden yuga,ie,we have crossed the first 4-5 thousand years of the golden epoch.Another views says that this golden age is set to start very soon with a spiritual wave coming from India in the near future. Those who say that Mahaprabhu's birth triggerred the golden epoch base it on the fact that the hidden Taarak Brahma Nam of Kali Santarana Upanishad, which is the "great mantra of deliverence" of Kali yuga, had been opened up for the masses first by Mahaprabhu, and the puranas also state that the chanting of the name of Hari will progressively increase in the epoch.

I feel we are nowhere near to the fag end of Kali. This is because our scriptures state the earth will become a very fearful place when the real Kali yuga will start. The water of the holy rivers and the sky will turn reddish(probably some form of extreme chemical or bio pollution) and the people will become machines devoid of emotions(robotic android civilization?).While the world is not a good place at present ,we still have a majority of men who are good.We still have thriving spirituality.Another aspect of the real Kali yuga is that all the names of the Lord(Krishna,Shiva etc) will be completely forgotten by people. But we are nowhere near to that kind of thing.

So I believe we are nowhere near to the beginning of Satya Yuga within 30 years,as Capt envisions. But to be fair Capt is not the lone person here, there are a large number of other blogs which state this same thing.Capt has only lifted this from other blogs :)
The spiritual wave which is set to come from India and engulf the world in the near future will reinforce the golden epoch of Kali and not Satya yuga. And while spirituality and Bhakti will thrive in this golden epoch,it will not be a "Satya Yuga".It is just that the majority of people will take up the path of good for these 10,000 years. As I have said, even today the majority of people are actually good. The problem is that the bad ones are sitting at the top and making our lives worse. The real and full Kali yuga will be far more worse than what we are seeing even at this stage.Another significance of this golden epoch is that God's name will still remain as the best form of deliverence and moksha.

    15. According to one website the meaning of the word Kalki is "machine or iron".YSV will be able to clarify.I don't know sanskrit. At the end of Kali yuga .For now I am assuming that the webpage isn't wrong.Iron is known to make water reddish. And strangely the vedas and ancient texts say that when the real Kali yuga would start, the holy rivers will turn red. This thing just flashed in my mind now.I had thought on this angle before.Similarly the martian atmosphere is reddish instead of the blue tinge of earth's sky, mainly because of the presence of iron oxide. And the vedas say that earth's atmosphere will also turn red in the Kali yuga.

"God Shiva will guide Vishnu in taking that step." - a bit biased Shaivite bhakti here :) Anyway as long as Bhakti is true and from heart, there's nothing to worry about :)

I had read the sikh link you shared. Now I am writing something which might hurt Mallu sentiment but this needs to be put forward. The Punjabis and Sikhs had put up 100 times more resistance on the R controlled British than Mallus of Kerala did.So that makes the Mallu community the real R agent and not Punjab.Ofcourse if you put this infront of Capt he will say that Mallus do not run after hero worship and glorification(yet the same capt glorifies Mata Amritanandamayi,ACN nambiar and such other Mallus beyond all limits :) ) .

iniyavel from your comments I could learn about some of the darker shades of the Mallu folks :) From Capt's blog I got the impression that they are the incarnations of God on earth :P

" -Iniyavel actually you are right. The puranas say that this 10,000 years of golden epoch in Kali yuga has been given as a boon for the righteous souls so that they might not see the real face of Kali yuga and get moksha before that starts. In any case we will not yet taste the real Kali anytime soon. The name of God is still heard loud and clear on the surface of earth and it will not die anytime in the near future.Capt sorry but your plans of establishing your blog as the sword of Kalki has to be put on the backbench for a 4 lakh years :)

    20. "There's one another thing I gotta put out here: Not everyone is perfect." - Capt is an exception here,as usual :P

" They will just go straight to the Almighty and leave the Universe forever. " - Here you have touched a good point. You can attain complete perfection by 21 days of continuous Nirvikalpa Samadhi state, when the Raja and Tama gunas are completely replaced by Sattvik guna.A complete Sattvik is the most perfect form. But normal human souls cannot recover themselves back from the state of Samadhi after 21 days.Their soul passes away into infinity and their body falls dead like a leaf detached from the tree.Only Purna Avatars of God can recover themselves from the Samadhi even after 21 days and live in the world as the most perfect form or 100% Sattva quality. This is why Ramakrishna used to scold Vivekananda whenever the latter would raise his Kundalini to Sahashrar to experience the state of Nirvikalpa Samadhi.Ramakrishna was worried of the fact that if Vivekananda might get absorbed in that state for 21 days straight and then his soul would pass off (as Vivekananda had very high yogic potential, according to Ramakrishna). Thus his work would remain unfinished.Vivekananda was not a Purna Avatar of God,so he couldn't have recovered himself back to material creation after 21 days.

" I'm goddamn sure he copied from Rense, David Duke, Storm Front, Daily Slave, etc. None of the contents were his own." -It is his acolytes who believe that Capt alone unearthed R,zionism and such other things.I have been reading conspiracy theory blogs from 2008.So I know how Capt lifts from such blogs. But I do not believe most of the conspiracy theories except a few like Vedic Vimanas,14 million year old map of artifical structures found in the Ural mountains(and this one is true).

Iniyavel I would like to know more about Mata Amritanandamayi from you.We do not know much about her here in North Indian states.

"He also said the Chera King Cheraman Peruman saw the splitting of the Moon by Prophet Mohammad.." - The very word "Bullshit" will be defined in the encyclopedia by this sentence :)
And anything that contradicts Capt is Zionist and Rothschild sponsored and were implanted by them :) On this issue of fake R creations of everything not from Kerala,YSV's take is very hilarious .here it goes :

"If Kabir, Tulsidas, Hanuman Chalisa and Chaitanya are creations of Rothshcild, I hereby declare Rothschild as an incarnation of Vishnu due to his/their unparalleled genius and contribution to Hindu culture , literature, music and civilization in general!"

    21. I admit that I followed Karva Chauth episode for some cheap entertainment from the very beginning. But JAM and Iniyavel, I did not come across any rape threats by his followers in the comment sections of IHM's blog or Firstpost. Nandita Iyer's blog is out of question because she blogs only about food recipes and she would obviously delete any off-topic, abusive comments. About Twitter and Facebook, I don't know.

Capt. had once mentioned that he had many opportunities for a love marriage but to uphold tradition and customs, he opted for an arranged marriage. Besides he wanted a girl who could blush and not someone who is over-confident or ultra-modern as he cannot cope up with hi-fi women.

Last month or a month before that I think he announced on his blog that his son was getting engaged. I wonder how his would-be daughter-in-law is?

      Delete
    22. Anu thanks for the clarification.Probably I am wrong here. I can faintly recall two or three comments on this but I think I am confusing rape threats on some other discussions with Nandita Iyer or IHM blog discussions. And actually when I was trying to scroll through my vague memory, even the name of one commenter flashes up in my memory. But I think the fault is on my side.Anyway as of now I am withdrawing my statement.I am deleting that comment of mine and I sincerely apologise if I have unknowingly hurt anyone's sentiments. But the curse comment of Capt is true :) I can clearly recall this one. It's sad that Capt has filtered out his own comment from his blog :) Capt has deleted that comment, because I couldn't find it this time on his Karva chauth post. But I just did a keyword search from the tab of browser,I didn't search through all the 400 comments this time. The comments give me a headache.Capt blog comments section carry almost zero original and genuine discussions.90% of the comments are just worships of acolytes for their Kalki Avatar .

I wonder whether the Capt has started sermoning his son's in-laws on zionism etc.But then the obvious question he would face is why his own son is living inside the den of Rothschild :P So probably with his own relatives,Capt plays a wholly different ballgame where he is a very normal and sane person :)

So when he opted for an arranged marriage, did he tell his parents and relatives to look for a woman who could blush ? Just wondering :)

And this in turn is based partly on Greek myths about the origin of humanity and the book of Daniel where he envisions the breakup of Babylon, Greece and Rome

Iniyavel only a bigot will propagate that Kanchi mutt is a fake creation of Rothschild. And in this case, the bigot is also worshipped by some as the long-awaited messiah Sanatan Dharma. How can readers get so blind that they cannot see through his Tamil hatred when he says Kanchi mutt is fake?I feel he has praised Adi Shankaracharya only to patch up his underlying jealousy for Tamils. If someone points out his racist undertone in declaring the R angle of Kanchi, then he will defend himself by saying that he has praised Shankaracharya without any second thought.

It seems that by following the bigotry of Capt constantly from 2012 to 2014(I do not even visit his site at present unless absolutely required for the sake of discussion here),now I have developed a very clear perception about the thought processes running inside the head of Capt :P

And Iniyavel, what could be the reason for capt's extreme misogyny? Could it be because he was ditched by some woman in his youth?

@JAM, vadakayil has only sons and no daughters, so no sons-in-law for him! Tamils are not exactly lacking in misogyny. I don't get your connection between respect for women and invaders.
FYI Kerala was untouched by Muslim invaders until Tipu Sultan. Tamil Nadu OTOH was devastated by raids of Malik Kafur, Tughlaqs and later ruled by Nawabs of Arcot etc.

    39. "JAM, your theory on perfection in 21 days sounds good, but if that were the case, then 9% of the people ..." - LOL I didn't mean that 21 days of "doing nothing" or "musing around" will give you Moksha. It's 21 days of straight Nirvikalpa Samadhi,ie, Kundalini remaining merged in the sahashrar for that long a period continuously. As I have already said earlier only Purna Avatars of God can recover themselves back from 21 days of Samadhi into the mortal realm.Normal Human souls will not be able to do so.But remaining in samadhi for 21 days is not something that a normal yogi can do easily.Even if people like us raise our Kundalinis to Sahashrar,we will not be able to sustain it for more than a few minutes .Our ego will emerge to pull us back from that state of singularity.Ramakrishna had warned Vivekananda not to enjoy the samadhi of Sahashrar too often only because there was a chance that the latter might remain in that state for 21 days straight without his ego bringing him down. And Vivekananda, though an yogi of high calibre, was not a Purna Avatar of God.So he would have died after 21 days,ie,he would have attained moksha and his body would have fallen dead.Vivekananda did remain in samadhi for 3 days on the rock in Indian ocean of Kanyakumari but that was "Dharmamegha Samadhi"
and not Nirvikalpa.I am not sure of this Dharmamegha Samadhi because most websites on the internet I searched speak very little about it.From whatever info I could collect,I think Dharmamegha Samadhi refers to the meditation on the ChaitanyaMaya state of God above Ajna chakra and below Sahashrar.Yogis call this state as the "chit(pure consciousness)" or "Bibhuti" of God.But I might be wrong here,as there is very little practical info on Dharmamegha in the internet.

YSV the iron age has been attributed to Kali yuga by a few puranas and ancient scriptures. From this many websites speculate that the root of the word Kalki might mean "iron".Actually when I was searching for it on the net I found that Kalki can have multiple meanings and significances. One of the interpretations is that it is "of iron or related to machine".I based my previous POV on this. The ancient scriptures say that the rivers and the sky will turn red.Now this is not impossible if the atmosphere gets contaminated with iron, through some chemical or biological adversity. This thing never flashed in my mind earlier, though I had read about the description of real Kali yuga much before.BTW I am also speculating and nothing else.
Anyway as I wrote earlier,we are nowhere near to the real Kali yuga. When the real Kali starts, the earth will be devoid of all the names of God.Probably this signifies that people will become complete atheists by following blindly some communist-like leader and destroy all the religious scriptures and religious structures. Then within a few centuries the world will forget any name of God or any religion that ever existed to guide them.

God how did I not catch this analogy? When we raise our kundalini we first see reddish colour inside our closed eyes corresponding to the Muladhar chakra. And Muladhar is the lowermost stage of hell, which continues upto Manipur or 3rd chakra. The vedas say that the world's atmosphere will become reddish.I think this signifies that the world will become a living hell.My point is that probably these descriptions in the vedas are not figments of imagination of some poet :)

Whatever speculations I have written above will not come with money-back guarantee :P So don't blame me or call me up if these do not match when the golden age will end :D

    41. Thanks for that Iniyavel.

"Atheism will be the world's dominant religion during the real Kali Yuga. " - This is the reason why communism is considered to be the design of the devil by some,as communism stresses on atheism too much.Again I think that the bible describing the texture of hell and the colour of Satan as reddish is not just mere imagination.Probably this also points to the red colour of Muladhar chakra.
When I had tried to raise my kundalini in the past,I had started seeing reddish colour accumulating inside the darkness of my closed eyes. But I didnot proceed further and discontinued. When kundalini gets awakened in the Muladhar chakra, you will see the black of your closed eyes in meditation getting replaced with reddish colour.Progressively the colours change as we raise our kundalini, for example, red is replaced by green when kundalini reaches Swadhisthan chakra(2nd) after muladhar(1st chakra).
This is why I believe the words of Ramakrishna when he said that all the mainstream religions of the world can lead us to the same ocean,ie,samadhi of Sahashrar, provided we follow the respective religious scriptures completely.

"Again I think that the bible describing the texture of hell and the colour of Satan as reddish is not just mere imagination."
Hell is described as reddish because it is supposed to be a 'lake of fire'. Literally. As for Satan being reddish, I think they just went with the theme :P But seriously, Satan is not described as reddish in any serious Christian literature.
When you close your eyes, you see red colour because of light filtering through your blood vessels.

    44. "When you close your eyes, you see red colour because of light filtering through your blood vessels." -LOL Premchand I was not telling about the that red :) and how on earth will you be able to see the red of blood vessels without focussing a torch-light on your closed eyes. The red colour that I am speaking of will persist even in a pitch-dark room only after you raise your kundalini.Red is the colour you will see when your kundalini is in Muladhar .It is far different from the red of blood vessels which you see with a torch light. And this colour will progressively change as you raise kundalini through the different chakras.
I had started seeing the reddish tinge accumulating inside my closed eyes n meditation even in absolute darkened room.I can assure you that if you see this, you will understand that it has nothing to do with illusions of external light on our closed eyes :) But to experience this, you will need to take up regular meditation.

"Hell is described as reddish because it is supposed to be a 'lake of fire'." - I think even this "lake of fire" signifies the red of Muladhar chakra, because the frequency of Muladhar chakra corresponds to the lowermost stage of soul existence just above material creation.

"As for Satan being reddish, I think they just went with the theme :P But seriously, Satan is not described as reddish in any serious Christian literature." - I respect your views but somehow I feel that the red colour attributed to Hell probably comes from the red colour as seen in meditation when kundalini is awakened in Mooladhar chakra. It might have been described allegorically as the "lake of fire".Ultimately it signifies red because we attribute the colour red in our consciousness to large fires.Real mysticism of all religions should have the same inference. However I didn't know the fact that the colour of Satan wasn't described in the Bible.Bible only describes hell as red and doesn't give any physical description of Satan. You are absolutely right here and thanks for rectifying me.

Actually there is no concept of Satan in Sanatan Dharma. What I feel is that this Satan is the accumulated Karmic burden of a soul in personalised form that keeps it at the lower levels, but again I am using my own speculation here and you should not take this to be my final inference :)

What is pathetic is that even after this all his followers will continue to worship him.Probably by now they have also designed a sanskrit mantra specifically on Capt's name :)

    47. @JAM, I'm no Amritanandmayi fan but did you notice in that forum discussion, how Tehelka journalists only write about mysterious events occurring in Hindu Gurus ashrams or mysterious deaths happening near Hindu religious places and temples. They never write anything about the faith healing retreats conducted by catholic priests in Potta, Kerala or by Dinakaran family in Andhra and how these faith-healers have amassed millions.

      Delete
    48. "@JAM, I'm no Amritanandmayi fan ..." - And I am no Tehelka fan either Anu :P What you mentioned about Tehelka is dead on and can be extended to the whole English Media industry in India. The vernacular media of the states do have some impartial publications. But I don't think the bias of Indian English media is because of Baron Rothschild sitting behind them and venting his anger on hinduism,as is being propagated by some all-knowing bloggers at present :D I believe it is biased against Hinduism because it caters to the English speaking ultra-modern
"SECULAR" community, which comprises mostly of nonchalant Hindus.

After reading Iniyavel's link,I searched the net to get views for and against the Gail Tredwell issue and Mata.I feel there is some problem in the enforcement of moral discipline inside the Ashram as is expected inside a monastery, and the problem is similar to that of ISKCON .However I will not automatically conclude that the fault is solely originating from Mata.

Bharat Sevashram Sangh , Ramakrishna Mission and the Tibetan monasteries enforce rigorous training spanning a few years on the new initiates .This comprises yoga,Pranayama, meditation etc.Without all this ,it's very hard to maintain celibacy throughout life.Kanchi Mutt might also be a very good example of this. However Iniyavel will be able to tell better on Kanchi. As of now I didn't come across any foul news on Kanchi Mutt. Most of the ashrams run by God-men do not have this kind of structured approach and hence the moral downfall. As I have already said, all of it cannot be blamed on the God-man/woman alone.

And ofcourse the catholic churches are far worse than Mata's Ashram will ever be :) Arnab Goswami was even shedding tears for Mother Teresa in Newshour Program during the discussion on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's accusations on Teresa(and the issue raised by Bhagwat is actually true to a large extent,as even the english MSM has now chosen to hush up on this )! I can assure you that his tears won't be seen if this was a Hindu issue .

And how did you know that truthsayer is a female? Capt. called truthsayer a female who was lusting for him. But I'm not sure whether truthsayer is a female. I wonder where he/she has disappeared now.

Some of the titles of your blog posts could be "Tattoo Unmasked", "The diabolic brainwashing of Tattoo by Neo-Nazis", "Tattoo - a creation of Neo Nazis?"

And I forgot to mention in the "super patriot" post that the capt is also against Veerashaiva and Lingayath communities of Karnataka. He says that Basavanna is an R-stooge. Basavanna was from 12th century, I think. Did R exist then? These communities bury the dead instead of cremating. According to him, RIP is impossible without cremation and the soul will remain trapped on the earth if buried. What are yours and YSV's views on this? Do you also bury the dead in your Saivaite sampradaya?

    6. "And I forgot to mention in the "super patriot" post that the capt is also against Veerashaiva and Lingayath communities of Karnataka. He says that Basavanna is an R-stooge" - Anu here the logic is very simple. If someone predates R then he/she is a fake creation of R,and if someone was from the 17th century and later on ,then R had found some way to bribe him and make him his stooge. So much for Capt's R theory. Now he seems to have become interested in targeting Vivekananda, probably after seeing my comments here :) I have a gut feeling that Capt peeps into YSV's blog. The sun probably does visit battery torch every now and then :) And frankly I was tired of reading his comments that everything in Karnataka is fake except the two places where his wife gets positive vibes.

"hese communities bury the dead instead of cremating." - When the soul passes away, all connections are cut off with the body.If the soul gets stuck on the earthly plane, then that is because of its extreme desire and /or Karmic burden.cremation will not help you spiritually as far as I know.I have read many books on spirituality and Kundalini from "real" yogis and not perceivers :P (I could share only one of them with you because of lack of English Translation).Nowhere do I remember any "real" yogi saying that cremation has more advantage than burial for the soul. The only thing that will give you any advantage is the Karma you are collecting and mindset you will be at the point of your death.IN Prof. Sarkar's book you will find discussions on this .That is why it is said that we should develop the process of chanting our favourite mantra all the time silently inside our mind. This state of incessant silent repetition of mantra by the mind without any conscious attempt can only be achieved by daily practice of Mantra Japa for a few hours for many years. This is recommended because we don't know when we are going to die.Whenever death will come, our mind would still be repeating the mantra and our soul go to the Ajna chakra directly. And I repeat cremation or burial will help you with nothing here.A religious and noble-hearted Muslim, christian or Jew who chants his God's name regularly will get a much higher level of soul existence(like Bisuddha or Ajna) than Capt whose only good Karma is taking on Rothschild and calling YSV a zionist :)

    7. Sorry Anu I forgot to touch an important point in this cremation and burial debate.Cremation is better than burial in the scientific sense and not quantuam physical one like what Capt says. This is because in burial systems unnecessary space is taken up on the ground but the same area can be used for cremation for an infinite number of bodies.

BTW Capt's quantum links to cremation are surely plagiarised from other sources. The problem is that he never acknowledges this in his blog :) As YSV wrote in one of his comments, the neo-modern Sanatan Dharma fans get attracted if you can somehow relate quantum physics with the religious beliefs.Prof Sarkar had also used theories of modern physics while explaining his yogic visions(like going through the black-hole in yoga, hyperspace etc) but he didn't use it like Capt does,ie,bringing everything in Sanatan Dharma under the quantum field :)

Agniveer might any day sue Capt for plagiarism :P

Yeah something like that but even more interesting.he is saying that Rothschild has used Ramakrishna to prop up Vivekananda as a defender of Sanatan Dharma.Again the same R sent Vivekananda (as his agent) to Nikola Tesla so that the latter might leak some of his inventions to Vivekananda :D

BAAAP RE capt where do you get such BULLSHIT? I am sure this is not plagiarised, because no other person on this planet can generate shit of such high grade and quality like you do.

But jokes apart, the same Capt used to praise Ramakrishna and Vivekananda without any caveats way back in 2011.This is why I suspect that he peeps into YSV's blog.Ofcourse there is nothing bad in reading other's POVs on the net. However in this case the sun descends to the level of the battery light :) He has surely seen my discussions with YSV on Ramakrishna/Vivekananda in YSV's "Vadakayil deranged lunatic" post. And thus he changed his stance from unconditional praise to Zionist agent incase of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda.

Anu he did have a post in 2013 where he put up screenshots which showed the rank of his website to be 318th in America according to Alexa.I guess that post was more of a reply to Ravinar of Mediacrooks. But strangely if you search for Ajit Vadakayil Blog on Alexa at present you will find that the global ranking of Mediacrooks of Ravinar is far ahead of Ajit Vadakayil blog.Ofcourse Capt will say that this is all a Rothschild conspiracy being hatched to malign him.And the 318 figure in that screenshot which Capt posted was clearly software-edited.When I saw this post in 2013 I was actually happy that I am following a person whose blog is 318th in USA and surely has very high rank in the world. At that time I didn't know that Capt had already started seeing Rothschild spectre in Ravinar. So I didn't give a second thought and took Capt's post at face value only.

    22. Cremation is consistent with our belief system that the body is just a vessel for the soul(reincarnation) while burial is more in tune with Biblical Islamic theology(resurrection)

I dont know any specific spiritual advantage over the other but I agree with JAM that cremation is more practical as there is a limited amount of space in the world. And in some cultures such as Mexico and southern Italy where land with deep soil is scarce, it can lead to some creepy solutions such as "renting" the burial space and if the family member is unable to pay, they are simply removed and placed in a cave.

That particular place was used to incredibly eerie effect in the opening scene of Werner Herzog's Nosferatu. Possibly the best vampire move as far as Im concerned

Take a look at the opening credits, but I warn you -its disturbing

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxE4yITfRLo

Coming back to the topic- I remember an interview with a rabbi where the questioner asked why the preservation of the body was so important to Jewish tradition. He responded that a lot of customs orignated from Egypt and we know Egyptians went the extra mile in preserving the mortal remains.
Furthermore there was apparently a dichotomy between the actions and motivations of the body and soul. So on judgement if the God could attribute sin to the body or the soul. As both were independent entities and capable of both good deeds and sins

While other more mystical Jews believed in reincarnation. How a religious body can believe in both reincarnation and resurrection is an interesting question which I couldnt figure out yet

    2. Iniyavel I am reading your article. You are no doubt a good writer and your style of writing is very engrossing.

However the hard reality is that in whatever way you might redefine communism,it will eventually be unsuccessful .I might sound peculiar but the only time when socialism can click is when a nationalist and real patriot takes control and infuses nationalism throughout the length and breadth of the nation.I believe Nazism or fascism sans the bigotry and extremeties of a whimsical leader is actually a good option to revive a nation within a short span of time. However marxist communism does not like nationalism and this is detrimental to the nation. But then again there is no free nation in the world to the best of my knowledge which has implemented true theoritical communism .

But the major drawback of nazism is the problem of having a replacement of similar calibre in top leadership position. A full fledged non-leftist democracy atleast leaves it in the hands of the people to decide although there are many caveats like money power, clout etc.Still in democracy we have the option to elect parties with completely opposing ideologies, from leftist to rightwing.

If I am given the option,I will always choose a non-leftist govt at the helm.Leftist philosophy actually supresses the potential of the nation with its constant endeavour for establishing equality.Ultimately it does make everyone equal in poverty and restriction to bare minimum.YSV what's your opinion on this?

    4. Iniyavel my view is that fascism is inherently leftwing philosophy.I don't understand why fascism is referred to as rightwing. It is actually a subject of endless debate.Maybe the rightist spectrum is allocated to fascism because of their attempts in ethnic cleansing. But that was out of their belief that it would bring welfare and greater good of their nation,a theme that is similar to communism itself.Otherwise fascism is not bothered at all about religion, which is a core principle of righist philosophies. So my opinion is that fascists are extreme leftists. One more point in favour of this is that fascism allots the role of state to be supreme above any individual. The only difference is that while communism integrates all communities under the banner of poverty and equality(BTW this stance of communism sounds very good on paper but is actually crappy :) ) ,fascism cares for a few designated communities which they believe to be the original and rightful inhabitants of their nation.

      Delete
    5. YSV I would like to have your opinion on the debate of fascism being leftist or rightwing.

      Delete
    6. Actually original fascism wasn;t antisemitic at all.It was their alliance with Nazi Germany that made them think about antisemitism, according to an essay written by a German historian. If that is true, then I think that robs another point from the debaters who try to establish fascism as far-right.

      Delete
    7. @JAM Fascism is indeed right-wing. Right-wing is not always about religion. You may be thinking about Hindutva in this regard. National socialism is a mixture of fascism and left wing ideas, but it is predominantly fascist. Think of right-wing as a synonym for nationalism.
      @SMME
"Thank God in a way Hitler lost, though he was actually a nice man before the war was forced on him."
No, the war was not forced on him. His agenda was always to annex Germany's neighbouring countries where some German-speaking populations were present, to create a "Greater Germany"(Grossdeustchland). He armed Germany to the teeth to counter any opposition to his plan. The Allies went to a great length to prevent the war under Neville Chamberlain. Hitler promised not to invade any more countries, but then went for Poland. That is how WW2 broke out.

    9. @ PremChand

Right wing philosophy was originially about conservatism and reactionism, and this ultimately led to religious foundations, because in the past more or less all societies of the world were dominated by religion in some form or other. And the major point which in my views makes fascism leftwing is the fact that fascist economic thinking was plain state economy and socialism. However the fascist state control of economy was pretty interesting,ie,as Iniyavel has pointed out, capitalism was also made a part of state.Fasciam is a form of nationalist socialism, but inherently it is socialist(some scholars have named it utopian socialism for it's merging of capitalism with state ).And inherently it was not conservative or reactionary in the beginning. The conservatism and promotion of Jew hatred was included by German Nazi influence later on.Before that even many Jews held top positions in the Fascist govt of Italy. But later on with antisemitism,it became a plain rightwing philosophy.Actually this was the reason why leftist philosophers have always tried to distance themselves from fascism, which automatically put it in the right side. But except for the point of hardcore nationalism, original fascism,in my opinion was actually a leftwing philosophy.
However I cannot deny your logic when you put fascism in rightwing group.Nowadays plain nationalism is also considered rightwing .

      @ Iniyavel
"Look, Germany was devastated and razed to the ground after World War I, and what Hitler did was merely take back ancestral German land. He paid the price for no fault of his to begin with. " - Iniyavel here I will have to go with Premchand's POV.Hitler had made a hell lot of mistakes and broke quite a few agreements.Hitler's ambition was to control so large a tract of land that he will be able to allegorically stretch out east and west with full comfort.Whatever logic you are giving is again based on antisemitism.

      Delete
    10. 1. How does that prove anything? Yes, Jews boycotted German products because Nazi Germany was an anti-semitic regime. That shouldn't come as a surprise. Also, that headline was a total exaggeration as newspapers all over the world are wont to do. There was no Judea to wage a war.

      2. 'Evidence' for what? None of the evidence provided prove that Hitler was forced into the war. Regarding the deal between Zionists and the Nazi establishment, it is well known that the Nazis extorted money out of some Jews while helping them get out of Germany, killing two birds with one stone. The Nazis wanted Jews out, one way or another. Since not everyone could go to Palestine, there was even the plan to send them to Madagascar. Finally the war intervened, and Hitler was in a hurry to "annihilate" Jewry, so guess what idea he came up with?
      3. The Bromberg massacre was a messy affair in which Germans, Poles and Jew, were killed, both soldiers and civilians. Anyway, it began AFTER the German invasion of Poland, so again it doesn't prove that Hitler was forced into the war. The video is Nazi propaganda. I would take any news clips- British or American with a grain of salt if it was released during war time.
      4. Austria-Hungary and Germany incited WW1 with their militarism and aggression. When they lost the war, giving up territory was the only option. Even then, the British were willing to look the other way when Hitler annexed Sudetenland. It was only when he invaded Poland and began rounding up the intelligentsia in the country for extermination that the world woke up and realised that this guy had to be stopped. The Nazis planned to kill or enslave the Polish and Russian people so that 'Lebensraum' can be established for the 'superior' German populace.
Germany would not have suffered the calamities of WW1 if they just kept quiet and not blow the murder of Archduke Ferdinand out of proportions. They were spoiling for war and they got one. However, it is true that the Treaty of Versailles pushed by France was unjust and destroyed the German economy. But that still does not justify Hitler's actions.

JAM and PremCHand have provided with dispassionate, factual accounts but you dismiss it as mainstream propaganda. Does the manstream media have biases and propaganda? Sure it does. Heck at one point Nazis were quite popular in U.S to the extant that they spoke at Columbia university (happily for you, at that time JEwish admission was severely restricted due to quotas, so much for Jewish control of U.S!)

Saddam Hussain and Muammar Gaddafi dug their own graves. More Saddam than Gaddhafi. Saddam had been given innumerable opportunities to come clean about his weapons program and step down peacefully but he didn't.

You can keep believing Hitler was a victim despite all evidence to the contrary because you are a neo Nazi idiot. And because of this you deserve all the nightmares you have and more.

Yitzhak Shamir and Menachem Begin are two heroes of mine and I know their biographies better than Hitler loving dipshit like you.

At the time British was controlling Transjordan and Palestine and restricting immigration of Jews to that area. This compelled Shamir to flirt with the enemies of Britain for weapons, money etc etc. Similar to how Netaji made alliances with the Nazis

All of these Jewish women are actually fans of India and Hinduism but due to their lack of proper training and biases , it comes out very badly.

Tamil and Malayalees are under the thrall of socialist ideologies and ruled by athiests. They are barely vigilant about goes on in their own backyard, forget about foreign affairs.

Oh and bTW the biggest fan of the British Raj was your hero Adolf Hitler, one of his favorite movies was The TIgers of Hastinapur, a crude anti Indian pro Raj movie directed by Fritz Lang.

Some vigilance on your part. We will do without it. Thank you

    19. Fascism , socialism, communism etc are all the same wine in different bottles. Fascism is just a somewhat rightwing version of the left. In that it is far more clever in not demolishing all ties to the past and ancient customs.
This is the reason why the Catholic church in general supports fascists movements and fascists in general make use of the powerful arm of the church to further its interests.
ANd fascism is more nationalistic than communism where communism leans strongly towards international labor movements and dissolving of borders.

But all three are for the nationalization of state resources and a command economy.

The Cubans who fell for the communism nonsense were the same ones who were taken in by the Ayotallah ie they jumped from the fying pan into the fire.

Sickos abound in all religions whether Islam(mullahs raping boys in mosques), Buddhism(Buddhist monks molesting young charges), Christianity(abuse of choir boys is well known) or Hinduism(there are crooked gurus out there for sure)

No one propped up Hussein except the Baath party. Hussein was temporarily useful to U.S during the Iran Iraq war but that's about all.

    24. Regarding laws against Holocaust denial, these laws were framed in the aftermath of WW2 as a "denazification" strategy. Note that in many countries were Holocaust denial is criminalized, denial of any other genocide (the Armenian genocide, Cambodian genocide etc) is also criminalized. Also, these countries don't ban the discussion of Holocaust in an academic setting. US, which is supposedly controlled by Jews, doesn't criminalize Holocaust denial because of their blanket promotion of free spech guaranteed by the 1st amendment. Many of the neo-nazi sites where you have been reading originate from there. Google, co-founded by Sergey Brin of Jewish origin does not block these sites. Many Jewish intellectuals have voiced their opposition against criminalizing denial, even though they themselves are against denying the Holocaust.

Iniyavel I would suggest that you indianise your rolemodels :) For God's sake remove Khomeini,Hitler ,Che or Gaddafi from the altar of worship.Look closer on our nation and you will get far better heroes to think over right from the ancient ages to the modern era.Note that I am not against Internationalism as such,I am just against the wrong international heroes like Che being worshipped by hoards of Indians.

A few years back there was a craze in the market for T shirts bearing the face of Che Guevara.I don't have any problem if Cubans do this but Indians??? I do have a problem with that !

And as Premchand pointed out, there is a lot more to be studied and known before you can come to such drastic conclusions.Holocausts have happened in world history many a time, but the Jewish holocaust has "Jew " associated with it,so it needs to be fake right?
You can debate on whether the number 6 million is exaggarated or not but don't deny something without exploring all the facets related to the event.
Many NeoNazi Hitler fans do not seem to get in terms with the fact that Hitler had taken extremely poor and bigotic decisions throughout the world war 2. However there's something behind this bigotry.Hitler might have been suffering from Neurosyphilis for the last few years of his life(due to his mingling with prostitutes and immoral lifestyle).Probably this was the reason for all of his poor decisions in his later political career.

The only conspiracy theory that I believe to be true is that Hitler might have actually escaped Berlin alive and was not killed by Soviets. He might have died a free man. This is not a very impossible thing to believe, considering the chaos prevailing throughout Germany and Europe during WW2.Ofcourse I do not believe it so hard that I will try to defend myself like a cornered cat :) I just think that this might be logically possible.

It is another to repeat the same old rubbish over and over again like a donkey despite all of our frequent requests for objective evidence and not tainted and biased sites

You have absolutely zero knowledge of world history, religion, geography or economics as the wont of neo Nazi bed wetting losers like your self

I will warn you once and once only. If you have post this garbage again

      1) Engage with those who oppose and examine the evidence they provide
      2) Don't make stupid blanket statements like "Everyone knows Jews control...x"
      3) Don't speak of things you have ZERO knowledge about ie U.S laws. I have lived in U.S and in the Middle Eastand travelled across Europe and Russia and am familiar with the cultures esp U.S and Arab society. You have ZERO experience and knowledge of either since I doubt you left your suburb in Chennai as you spend most of your time jacking off to images of Hitler. So stop making a fool of yourself by stating that Jews cant be criticized in U.S. I believe Prem Chand also accurately destroyed your bizarre claims
      4) Be an honest debator. When you asked what Gaddhafi had done? I pointed to the Lockerbie bombings. And then you suddenly change track and ask what that had to do with the 2011 bombing of Libya and again you say he was innocent
      a) You asked a question , I answered. You don't like the answer so you want to change the parameters. I don't care for such dishonesty
      b) Gaddhafi settled with the Lockerbie victims roughly to the tune of $10 million each. Does this sound like he was innocent? And issued an implicit apology in 2003. I don't care for your ignorance

Abide by these rules and you can stay. Otherwise I have had it. I don't like to ban people as unlike your heroes I respect free speech(and no ,fake claims of free healthcare, food is not a substitute for free expression ) but spammers and timewasters like you Vadakayil and Amit Mishra are another matter(yes as of now I consider you in this category unless you prove me wrong)

Get your shit together or atleast get it off here and on to your blog. I know I will not be visiting. If you want to stay leave your bigotry, Tamil supremacism(a mirror image of the captain's mallu supremacism), neo Nazi views, anti Semitism and all around anti Western bigotry at the door.

In contrast, the kingdom of MEWAR inspired by HAARIT RISHI and built by KALABHOJA alias BAPPA RAWAL lasted for 1200 years and upheld Indian independence and self respect from beginning to end - longer than Rome, Byzantium and Holy Roman Empire.

Why the market crashed on his watch, if only it had been allowed to recover on its own , the recession would last about 2 years tops and wouldn't have become a depression. The New Deal of FDR and its make work programs actually made things incredibly worse contrary to all the statist propaganda out there.

The old America is missed by many even in America and was a great place unless you were black or Jewish. Let us not over romanticize the past.

      Delete
    11. CDS and nonregulation of the lending policies of banking system in USA were the main culprits behind the financial crisis. It is called the subprime crisis,ie,borrowers get loans approved without bare minimum checks and balances, and the final result is a mortgage backlog on behalf of the banks. The Indian monetary and banking system,as far as I understand, will never face this problem because of strict guidelines of RBI on monetary and fiscal policy.

      Delete
    12. YSV's perspective on economic history is far better than mine :) So you will get a better reply from him on this.I just gave the broad outline.

      Delete
    13. As JAM stated Credit Default Swaps( CDS) which gave a phantom AA rating to rotten securities was a big factor in the collapse of the American financial system.
However when people speak of deregulation , they forget the key regulation inserted by politicians and forced onto banks that is the Community Reinvested Act(CRA) . Now this CRA basically states that low income folks usually minorities blacks and Hispanics were ENTITLED to housing mortgages plans even if they couldn't afford them.

Please note that that prosperous minorities such as say Korean,Chinese, Indian Americans were not eligible for CRA as their yearly income was even higher than white Americans.

And banks due to political pressure were forced to give in to the politicians and their desire for vote banks. So the banks in their ingenuity decided to make hay while the sun shines and introduced MBS(Mortgage Backed Securites) where they would bundle good mortgatges(white, Indian, Chinese Americans) with bad(black,Hispanic and other low income groups) together and sell them off as securities and with the help of CDS get them a AA rating for this stock. AIG was instrumental in this whole scheme.

So when inevitably the risky customers defaulted on their payments, the entire house of cards kept tumbling down and led to the 2008 financial crisis.

Please note that there is very little that is free market or capitalistic about these whole proceeding. In a true free market, no politician would have the ability to force such a politically motivated requirement on a back and a bank if it abided by the spirit of capitalism would not knowingly sell such rotten products in the market.

      Delete
    14. Furthermore banks were able to take such humongous risks due to the repeal of the Glass Steagal Act in 1998. Glass Steagal was passed during the Great Depression which stipulated that commercial and retail banking would be divorced from investment banking.

Normally it is not neccesarily a bad thing that investment arm of a bank would have access to the capital of the retail customers if they were invested in blue chips or the treasury alone.

What happened in the 2000s was that investment bankers got access to the enormous capital of the retails arm and basically such banks became a gigantic hedge fund.
Now unlike some people I don't have problem with hedge funds but these investment bankers were in way over their heads as they lacked the expertise and technology and risk management that fund managers take years to accumulate.
Hiring a fund manager to manage your fund isn't the same as when the fund manager has 10-20% of his own capital invested in the fund as most hedge funds stipulate. So there was less incentive for fund managers in investment banks to be more cautious of how they invested the funds since they would get paid their big bonuses anyway.

Please note this is pure cronyism, corruption and pseudo mercantilism. Little to do with free markets or capitalism as some detractors claim

Both parties, Republican and Democrats got their hands dirty with this. Jimmy Carter signed the CRA, Bill Clinton gave it a shot in the arm. Reagan encouraged the investment banks to run wild. And Bush running after the Hispanic vote further pressured banks to lend to risky customers.
All the while Obama as a union lawyer before he was a Senator and later President used to agitate against banks for their "discriminatory" practices againsts low income groups such as blacks.

    15. Ysv and JAM, thanks for your detailed response. Now I have a better understanding of the financial crisis than what was presented in the movie Inside Job.
It occurs to me that the US is the only true free market economy in the world. Even western European countries are mixed economies.

      Delete
    16. The people who made Inside Job are really a bunch of socialists. I saw it a long time ago but I remember they focus not on the cause but effect of CRA.
They gingerly left out it was socialist politicians who pressured banks into making those risky loans. Of course this doesn't excuse the banks behavior and they should also be taken to task. But let us not sweep things under the rug

These same people who were once jumping and down for banks to be more compliant to low income groups demands all of sudden turn on the banks when that policy goes tits up and chastise them for "predatory lending". wah Bhai wah, when banks don't give such people loans , they are racist and anti poor, when banks do provide them with loans, now they are "predatory"

Particulary bizarre in that documentary was the celebration of Barney Frank the political hack behind the government backed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Not to mention the redemption of the disgraced former NY governer Eliot Spitzer who posed as an anti corruption crusader on Wall Street and by night used government funds to procure prostitutes.

I have not yet seen a fair depiction of the financial crisis in documentary form. But that is because the American free market conservative are just as incompetent at getting their message across as their counterparts India

    19. Without the welfare component, how does a government tackle rising inequality? US welfare coverage is the smallest among developed nations, and consequently its inequality level is the highest, and still increasing. But why should we care about inequality? Thomas Piketty argues that high levels of inequality in a free market can form a vicious cycle and even undermine democracy.

      Delete
    20. All depends on what you mean by inequality. The poor in the U.S for the most part have an apartment, furniture TV, DVD player, microwave owen, heating and air conditioning , refridgerator and access to affordable food stuffs.

Most of the poor , heck evenlower middle class in the world would kill to be poor in the U.S

As for inequality in general, it is at best vaguely defined. A person who is poor in his 20s will be rich in his 50s by Pickety's own arbitrary criteria.

Also when you are talking about incomes, are you talking about individuals or families? That makes a world of difference

It is not the government's business to tackle inequality as different people have different skill sets and abilities and there will always be someone at the bottom.

Thomas picketty's fumbling with statistics has been exposed.
It is Picketty's socialist redistribution policies which actually create greater inequality (think of Indira Gandhi era India).

As for economists, I prefer another Thomas- Thomas Sowell. Google for his columns at nationalreview, townhall . It will blow your mind.

One of the most important books Ive ever read is Sowell's Basic Economics, there he single handedly demolished pretty much all socialist and populist views.

In short the fight against inequality is politically motivated and makes little sense from an economic POV in a free market

    22. But the poor in the US are also driven towards selling drugs which is one of the reasons for violent crime in American cities. Violent crime lands people in jail (American prison population is the largest in the world). It also forces police to respond aggressively which causes incidents like Ferguson.
Yes, the poor in the US are much better off than in India, but here I am trying to compare US with other developed nations. Inequality will always be there, but if it is allowed to grow unrestrained, it might undermine democracy and its related values like free speech. Case in point: the modestly successful campaign by Scientologists to suppress any unfavourable discussion of their religion in public. The scientologists are among the richest churches in the world.

      Delete
    23. Drugs only exist because of demand. Before the 1960s there were probably as many poor as today but no drug related crimes.
Drugs are as much a social and economic problem as a law and order one.
I never defend the U.S penal system which can be harsh as well as arbitrary.
My point is inequality is more a political than economic measure of living.
Blacks in 1960s had a slightly higher level of employment than whites. What destroyed their society is the welfare state initiated by Lyndon Johnson which put too many of them on the dole and encouraged single motherhood which further led to social problems such as crime. They only started recovering in the 1990s

What worries about free speech is not inequality but political pressures from all sorts of lobby groups. Nowadays people can lose their job for stating that they find gay sex unappealing.
The CEO of Fireforx Brendan Eich was fired for contributing to a campaign in 2008 which ensured that California bans same sex marriage.
Sure you can free speech in writing but what use is it if its demolished in spirit with these extra legal measures?

Scientologists are known for their gangster tactics where hire private detectives to delve into your private lives and dig out dirt. And if that fails they are quite litigious and wont hesitate to unleash their legal team on you to make your life miserable.

It is very easy to say the officer should've just wounded the assailant. In such situations it is difficult to control what your reactions will despite all the trainings. If you believe is in danger, you are justified in killing in the assailant.
Another glorified thug Trayvon Martin was pretty much the same story. This time he was felled by a vigilante rather than a cop

In both cases, the media poured gasoline on the flames and obscured the facts of the case in order to demonize the police.

And just a month later after Ferguson, a black cop shot some black punk. Have you heard about that ? Im guessing no. The same reason why most of the crime in U.S is black on white but the media who have a narrative in mind latch on to scraps of The Great White Defendant story if they see one.

Marathas used light cavalry tactics to defeat Mughals and conquer much of India. But they learnt it from Rana Pratap (via Malik Ambar) and thus Mewar did influence the course of Indian history, even if indirectly.

While I agree that Marathas and Mauryas ruled far bigger empires, they collapsed rather swiftly.

But Mewar in comparison lasted for a over a thousand years and that too after successfully facing catastrophes.

Mewar have produced no less than 11 great military leaders in 1200 years of her history who defeated vastly superior Muslim hordes.

Chittor, capital of Mewar was twice sacked but Mewar rose up from each defeat to become greatest threat to total Muslim domination of North India.

Mewar was a safe haven for persecuted Hindus from across North India and Rana of Mewar was accepted as Hindupati or Leader of Hindus in North India. Even Shivaji accepted Rana Raj Singh as Leader of Hindus.

Armies of Mewar too fought in liberation of Telingana from Nizam.

Mewar did have an imperial phase in 14th, 15th and early 16th century - which reached its height under Rana Sanga when Mewar controlled whole of Rajasthan and much of Madhya Pradesh.

Imperial Mewar existed around the same time as Vijayanagara empire.

Krishnadeva Raya and Rana Sanga were contemporaries and Babur referred to them as the most powerful rulers in India.

Had Sanga not been betrayed by his general at Khanwa, Babur would have been defeated and Rajputs would have conquered Delhi much before Marathas.

Influence of Mewar and Vijayanagara can be seen in vision of Shivaji - he wanted to built a strong great empire like that of Vijayanagara based in Peninsular India while at same time he used military strategy of Ranas of Mewar and claimed descent from Sisodias (ruling clan of Mewar).

    ---------------------------------------------

The main reason why Gandhi and Nehru have such influence on how most Indians view past is because of the deliberate misinformation campaign conducted by Indian media and education --- and what do they say?

"""There was no freedom struggle before arrival of Congress party. Leaders like Chandragupta, Satakarni, Bappa Rawal, Shivaji, Pratap, Harihara, Bukka and Govind Singh fought for selfish reasons and hence were not freedom fighters""" - thus de-legitimizing all our warrior heroes in a single stroke.

(This is a lie - our heroes did have the notion that they were fighting to save Bharatavarsha, the land of Dharma - whether secularists like it or not)

      Delete
    2. Cmon Sagar, that is stretching quite a bit.

I don't deny the legacy of Mewar and its effect of morale of the rest of Bharatavarsha. But lets not get carried away.

Shivaji and other Marathas grew up serving Mughals and the Mughals already had a tradition of light cavalry. In a hilly region like Sahyadri , cavalry was the way to go.

While Vijayanagar and Maurya didn't last as long as Mewar they cast a much longer shadow- that much cant be denied

And Shivaji claiming descent from Sisodia was something he was compelled to do as Rajputs had at the time monopoly over the lineages of the solar, lunar dynasties. Unfarily IMO

Furthermore Rajputs themselves were an amalgalm of different ethnicities ,some descended from Hunas and Sakas(these were usually term aginkula ie purified by fire) and others like Rashtrakutas and Chalukyas who were of South Indian origin

Shivaji of Bhosle clan claimed descent normally from Hoysala of Karnataka which was then gradually Marathized into bhoysla-bhosle

And his mother was Yadava also of Karnata origins

Rajput lineage is something he had to concoct for his pathabhishekham in order claim mangle of Hindu samrat.

      Delete
    3. @ysv, I didn't know that Shivaji was a descendant of Hoysalas. However Marathas insist that they are descendants of Rajputs and they say that some of their surnames like Pawar and Chavan resemble Parmar and Chauhan respectively.

Also YSV, what do you think of the Kadambas. There's a village called Banavasi in Uttara Kannada district which was the capital of the Kadambas. There is an ancient temple built by the Kadambas dedicated to Lord Madhukeshwara (shivling is of a beautiful honey colour). Also did their empire extend up to Goa? The state transport in Goa is called Kadamba Bus Transport.

    4. @Sagar While I disagree that there was no freedom struggle before arrival of Congress party, surely emperors like Chandragupta and Satakarni did not think of themselves as freedom fighters? I mean its not like the entire several millenia of Indian History is one long freedom struggle. Even the rebellion of 1857 was not motivated by nationalism. Basically it was fought by princely states who were disadvantaged by the Company's 'no adoption' policy. Their concern only went as far as the borders of their own territory, not Bharatvarsha. Without the British, they'd happily be fighting each other for control. Note that the princely states which were comfortable feeding off the profitable trade with the Company joined the British side and fought against their own countrymen.

    5. @Prem Chand

      That is a good question.

Rulers of ancient India and early medieval India - right from Chandragupta Maurya to Prithviraj Chauhan saw themselves as defenders of Dharma, followers of Dharma and land of Dharma (in effect, protectors of India and Indians).

But once Muslims conquered Ganges Basin (UP, Bihar and Bengal) and Northern Deccan, idea of saving Dharma by defending whole of South Asia became less important and focus was on defending Dharma by protecting one's principality from Muslim attacks.

But even then the idea of saving Dharma by freeing whole of India had not vanished fully - Rana Sanga and Hemu attempted to do that. Shivaji and his successors made it their long range objective ("Hindu Padshahi")

Compromise Hindus made during Mughals was due to their intellectual and moral decline rather than due to absence of high ideals.

Hindu downfall in terms of virtues and intellect was complete by 1805 - year when Brits became paramount in India.

1857 Revolt - Whole affair was extremely chaotic and spontaneous - but since defence of Dharma (in form of religion) was one reason why many rebels chose to fight, an element of freedom struggle was there in embryonic form.I would say that 1857 was largely a revolt by masses who were fed up by oppression and ex-rulers played only a peripheral role.

    7. "...1857 was largely a revolt by masses who were fed up by oppression and ex-rulers played only a peripheral role."
The masses had no interest in the 1857 revolt. The initial fighting was done entirely by the disgruntled regiments of the Company and later the rulers like Lakshmi Bai and Tantia Tope joined with their men. In all cases self-interest was the prime motivation. The regiments were taken mainly from the upper castes (bad mistake) and Muslims who were repulsed by the use of tallow in their guns. In the case of rulers, it was the Doctrine of Lapse.
Regarding the defense of Dharma, the 1857 Revolt was fought in an un-Dharmic way on many occasions. There was one when Tantia Tope ordered the wives and children of officers murdered brutally with axes and matchets, and their bodies dumped in a well in a tangle of limbs. When the British found this out, they reacted with equal brutality but the details are far too graphic.

    8. With respect to Prem Chand and Sagar, I would take a little from column A and little from column B.

I would say 1857 was genuinely a liberation struggle which involved both the masses and elites.
Indeed the masses in the Gangetic plain set up sophisticated logistics systems for the "rebel" soldiers. The average farmer was livid over the increased taxes while the soldiers ire was mostly ideological.

It failed due to many reasons
But I believe choosing a Mughal emperor as a leader was a fatal flaw. How far the Marathas had fallen that now they chose to fight under an (impotent) Mughal banner.
Understably Sikhs who now a force to be reckoned didn't feel motivated to contribute to the movement , indeed they supported the British.

All in all , while it was a genuine liberation movement, its scope was restricted to certain sections of the Gangetic plains. There was simply too many kingdoms allied on the British side and the British were far better provisioned and strategically placed.

As for the massacres of British women and children, it did not help the cause at all and this rose a heated anti Indian sentiment amongst the Brits back home. Charles Dickens who otherwise tended to be anti authoritarian expressed a desire for the Indians as a race to be exterminated.
Numerous preachers and pastors also gave similar blood soaked sermons.
So the Brits in India had no choice but heed the sentiment back home rather beat a retreat.
In many ways, it was the reverse of the Vietnam effect where Americans won every battle in Vietnam but lost the war due to lack of popular and political support. Here it was going badly for the Brits initally but the passions of the populace back home gave them a morale boost

    9. Ysv, good analysis. Kanpur butchery was the biggest blunder done by rebels in 1857. It was a god sent gift to British propaganda machine and also helped convert British public opinion in favor British war effort in India.

Kanpur butchery was an exception rather than norm but for Brits it was norm rather than exception.

Brits have committed horrible atrocities on locals during anti-insurgency operations in Northern Kerala and Western Tamil Nadu in late 18th and early 19th century. Mass murder, rape, torture and mutilation were the norm (rather than exception) practiced by Brits and their native soldiers. They did the same during Mau Mau rebellion in Kenya. Or just look at what they did in Ireland.

I condemn butchery of women and children, but English themselves have a long record of committing atrocities (in the name of civilization and enlightenment)

Interesting you mention Kadama as I believe I found the Kadamba version of Vadakayil LOL.

There is lady called Tejaswini Velumbria who believed that pretty much all Sanskrit literature, drama, epics etc started with the Kadambas and their ethnic co horts Satavahanas. In this she may be better known as a Kossar supremacist as Kossars tribe were the ancestors of Satavahanas, Tuluvas, Kadambas and couple of other Deccan based cultures/kingdoms
She believes Sanskrit has been back dated. Never mentions by whom exactly but she like a certain someone doesn't care for Zionists!

Often it is difficult to decipher what she is saying because again like a certain someone she is like a firehose with liberal use of CAPS and no regard for punctuation

She makes some interesting points and to be sure Kadamba deserves greater study but it is a bit painful to separate the wheat from the chaff.

    12. re Shivaji, Chandragupta

Simply put some kings were liberators from foreign domination and tyranny- Chandragupta Maurya and Pushyamitra Sunga against Greeks, Satakarni against Scythians, Guptas against Huns and Scythians

Various Rajput, Andhra,Pandya, Kashmir dynasties against Muslims

OTOH we have Hoysalas, Rashtrukutas, Chalukyas, Cholas who were not really involved in fighting foreigners. In the case of Cholas in fact , they engaged in imperialism in South East Asia.

These kings and others are celebrated not just for their derring do but their patronizing or contributing to arts, literature, temples, sacrifices, grants to Brahmins etc etc

In general while we never had a centralized monarchy in the style of Persians or Chinese, there was always a strong sense of that every kingdom is part of larger project and culture of Bharatavarsha.

And particularly in the south, the yearning to be a chakravartin (conqueror of all Bharatavarsha) was very strong. Tamil culture often eulogizes kings who intend to furl their flags from the mountains (Himalaya) to the seas(Indian Ocean).

In Northern India, after the collapse of the Gupta dynasty there was no comparable ambition

I dont want to give any undeserving importance to Mewar, but.........

Why would Shivaji link himself with Sisodias of Mewar? There were other Rajput clans which had certified solar and lunar origin. Answer I think reason is because Sisodias survived so many centuries on onslaught - and that too intact and their refusal to marry their women to Mughals gave them an almost divine halo in eyes of Hindus as far as distant Deccan.

Mewar can teach us much about how to build a long lasting state. Building a long lasting state is something which Hindus since last 2400 years have failed.

Rishi Vidyaranya also wanted the same thing - he wanted a Vijayanagara empire that will flourish for 2000 years.

Please refer to this link -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maharana_Pratap#Legacy.

Mughals used archer cavalry like all Turks, but light cavalry tactics focused on defeating enemy but cutting of his food supply and by constant harassment. Cossacks did the same with invading French army in 1812.

In fact Marathas like most Deccan peoples were originally foot soldiers and not horsemen. All the great South Indian powers right up to Vijayanagara had largely infantry dominated armies.

But yes your are right about Hoysala-Bhosale connection. It has been proven by historians whereas Sisodia link is even today unproven. Jhadavs (Seuna-Yadavas) the clan of Jijaubai also had Kannada origin.

Whole of Western Maharastra even as recent as 1000 years back spoke Kannada. Shivaji, a man of Kannada ancestry, ruled over a people who had Kannada ancestry.

    1. You are partially correct in stating that Southern India was more an infantry culture. However pretty much every major power in India was supposed to have 4 division army- charioteers, cavalry, infantry, elephants

And South Indian powers were no exception. The only people in the south who had very little use for cavalry were the Kerala kingdoms. Its possibly why of all of the southern kingdoms , it was they who had a very limited empire restricted roughly to the confines of modern day Kerala only.

Horses for whatever reason don't thrive in the tropics and require dry arid land be reared and trained properly.
Rajasthan, Sindh, Afghanistan etc obviously fulfills this criteria and hence horse and a cavalry culture was predominant there.

However in the South, you have Northern Karnataka/Southern Maharasthra,Telengana and Northwestern Tamil Nadu which are more conducive to horses to their relatively dry terrain.

And it not coincindentally from these regions that most of the powerful empires in the south, yes with strong cavalry were incubated.

However over the last 1500 years for whatever reason, horse rearing was outsourced to Arabs who would supply horses rather Indians rear them locally. I suppose it was more cost effective.
I hope the modern day socialist swadeshi imports taxing enthusiast keep such simple laws of economics in mind.

So I agree that Marathas may have been infantry but I say they rediscovered their heritage via Rajputs and Mughals.

Also keep in mind due to dhimmi status under Muslim rule , non Muslims were forbidden to ride horses. So that may have effected equestrian culture adversely during the zenith of Muslim power in the Deccan

Since 1947, most people in India is living under a delusion that they are a free people. Hard truth -- they are not. They still dont have independence of mind and that is the reason why country is in such a mess.

    @Anu

Some of the Maratha clans (not most) are blood brothers with some Rajput clans. Maratha clans of Chavan, Sisode, Rathod, Chandale, Salunkhe and Pawar are blood brothers of Rajputs clans like Chauhan, Sisodia, Rathore, Chandel, Solanki and Parmar. Rathore and Solankis are linked to Rashtrakutas and Chalukyas and thus giving them origin in Karnataka. They must have ended up in North India during Rashtrakuta invasions.

    1. Exactly, furthermore it is also possible that later on some Rajputs migrated southwards to find employment as mercenaries or gain a better foothold to fight Muslims, whatever their motivations.

In Karnataka during 2005-2006, I believe the CM was a guy called Dharam Singh who was descendent of Rajputs who were hired by Wodeyars or some other dynasty

"Since 1947, most people in India is living under a delusion that they are a free people. Hard truth -- they are not. " -Yeah there's no doubt about this.Even the independence that we got had probably come with a binding at that time.It is alleged by some high ranking officials in Indian govt that the free Indian govt had been given independence with only one binding term,ie,Netaji should be handed over alive or dead to Britain,if the Indian govt would get to know his whereabouts.
Even a month back I took this as conspiracy theory. But recently the PMO has replied to an RTI to declassify secret Netaji files by saying that the whole of the decision is not under their (ie PMO's ) authority. After reading this I think the conspiracy theory is true.Probably this is the reason why the govt(whether Modi,Vajpayee or Gandhis) has been constantly replying in the same words which goes as : "Disclosure of documents contained in these files would prejudicially affect relations with foreign countries. As such, these files are exempted from disclosure under Section 8(1)(a) read with Section 8(2) of the Right to Information Act,” . Again all of this starts to make some vague sense when some declassified British intelligence documents show that ACN Nambiar, who was Netaji's deputy, had worked as a Soviet spy after India's independence.

Now why would a free govt have fear about foreign nations on disclosing it's own files, even after 60 years of it's independence ? So technically I doubt whether we are actually free at all.

Linguistic nationalism in India is unhistorical ----- In India, division of political consequence at geographical level was REGIONAL & DYNASTIC LOYALTY and not language. In social affair, it was CASTE and CLAN and when it is a question of Weltanschauung, it was always RELIGION.

If some were to say that India is artificial – then which division is natural? Kerala and Tamil Nadu? There was never a united Tamil Nadu or a united Kerala even in Sangham period. They were divided into rival kingdoms that fought one another for supremacy..

If you want to split India into small fragments, then even a small tiny state of Kerala will have to be broken into three separate parts – dismembering whole of India will result in no less than fifty units. Speaking about Tamil Nadu, no less than three distinct countries can be carved out of it.

India is not USSR. India is a natural geographical, historical and cultural unit while USSR was nothing more than Russia and her conquests.

If anybody thinks that carving out tiny states out of India will solve corruption and inefficiency, then they are wrong. These fragments will be ruled by the same politicians and bureaucrats and only two difference will happen – change in anthem and flag along with a greater level of threat from Mlechcha forces like China and USA.

Only way that inhabitants of India can avert disaster – from Himalaya to Cape Comorin – is a return to Dharmic virtues. Without that, no amount of regime change or change in boundaries will help.

    16. Sagar I second your opinion.Iniyavel none of your probs will be solved with separate state-nations.No state can deny the help they get from the Union govt of India.Except Gujarat,no other state is economically strong enough to become a separate nation.Even Gujarat will be an utter failure if it gets separated from India.Though India was never united properly in the past, yet the concept of Bharat Varsha has been there since the mythological past .So Iniyavel you are absolutely wrong when you try to assert that the concept of Indian nation didn't exist.Whatever the apparent differences might be,there was always a cultural integrity that has maintained the identity of the nation. This is why all invaders except the Brits in modern age became "Indian" with passage of time.

Entirely agree. By saying that declassifying Netaji files will harm relations with foreign countries, our officials have admitted unwittingly that something terrible happened to Netaji and that foreign powers are involved in it. Now we know for sure that Netaji did not die in air crash.

Why so much of the British colonial laws, practices and institutions are still intact?

Why are we are still member of Commonwealth?

Why there was no effort to make Sanskrit the lingua franca of India?

Why have we not yet started to impart education (from kindergarten to university) fully in local languages?

I think all these questions have a single answer ---- our ruling class still don’t want India to become fully free.

      Delete
    19. Sagar the point you have touched on commonwealth might be true.On any other day this would have been a wild conspiracy theory. But as I mentioned in my earlier comment, successive govts not having the guts to declassify the files and pointing out "foreign relations" issue gives me a feel that there might be more than meets the eye.No independent nation will suppress their own files hidden in their own PMO while giving foreign relation excuse. One thing to note here is that apart from this "foreign" angle, their is no other issue that seems to bother the govt of India.
Just like you,I also have a slight doubt in my mind that whether commonwealth participation is voluntary at all in case of India.Infact putting everything else aside,India being a member of this group seems to be pretty insulting to me.It gives a feeling that we still can't forget our colonial masters. As far as I know,India at present requires no real diplomatic support of this apparently redundant group of cwealth.

However I would also like to have YSV's perspective on this .just to clarify myself again,I wouldn't ever have believe the commonwealth conspiracy had the declassification issue not lingered on showing "foreign clause" even after 60 years of independence.

    21. "Why have we not yet started to impart education (from kindergarten to university) fully in local languages?" -Sagar I agree with every point of yours except this one :) Recently Chinese govt has officially accepted that the educated youth in their country are lagging behind in globalisation of economy mainly because of the lack of English based education in general.Infact China is considering major reforms at present to promote English education throughout the country. I don't have a problem with Indian youth getting education in English ,as long as they are taught Sanskrit(something which I didn't learn in my school life) and their respective vernacular languages. If a nation is serious about imparting high quality education, then English will not be a hindrance.Similarly I feel that vernacular language based education at this point will not help India much.Remember that India is neither Japan nor Russia nor Germany.India has 33 scheduled languages(the number might have increased now). When India didn't persue Sanskritisation at the beginning ie 1947,I dont see much hope in persuing it now.

Sagar you can differ with me but my view is that English language is not the culprit in our cultural deterioration. The root problem which I think has mattered is that we didn't get some real and hardcore patriotic leadership in 1947.

    24. Iniyavel still you didn't answer Sagar's question :) Going by your policy of such separation,India will actually get separated into 300 nations and not 30 or 40.This is because there are many regional aspirations which are supressed at present due to lack of momentum. But if you open the Pandora's Box with the announcement of separation of nationstates one fine morning, then all hell will break lose.
Just take the example of my state WB.Here some people of North Bengal want to get separated from South Bengal. However this is based on lack of development of NB wrt South Bengal and not linguistic issues.Again the Gorkha population of North Bengal want their own separate area centred in and around Darjeeling(the Gorkhaland agitation). So you get 3 nations from the small state of West Bengal :)

You are living in a fantasy world if you think Russia will come to the aid of TN or that U.S will even bother about TN in the first place.

What always amazes me about these anti Americans zealots is how they are really closet American admirers! If you measure your self worth in how America responds to you then you have some unresolved issues

Reminds me of many of these North Indian Hindu(usually Punjabi) Pakistan bashers but the minute a Pakistani says something nice about Punj dominated Bollywood they become lovey dovey

Anyway U.S Defense Budget is usually set for the next 10 years and its debt is mostly consisting of unfunded liabilities such as social security and pension. It spends less than 5% of its GDP on defense.

When Russia didn't bother about U.S invading Afghanistan which is really Russia's backyard and disrupting Iraq-a client state of Russia not to mention tinkering in Ukraine which is in many ways part of Russia itself then how with a straight face can you say it would care anything about TN with which it has a lot less to do?

For what you envision, Russia and TN need to engage in trade relations giving each favored nation status. Defense agreements, war games, cultural exchange programs. What would really clinch Russian interest would be a port in TN seas. Russia always yearned for a warm water port since atleast Peter the Great

However all this takes decades and the rest of India as well as U.S is not going to take kindly to Russia intrusion in the Indian Ocean or Bay of Bengal.

So your plan or rather fantasy lays uh dead in the water

  13. "Just because my state is more united, I shouldn’t call the shots on all the others!"

Tamil Nadu is far less united than you think. The Chennai area is still teeming with Telugus who are upset that they are not with Andhra. In fact until the early 1980s the Telugu film industry was based not in Hyderabad but then Madras.

The Kanyakumari district was supposedly for Kerala but was rewarded to TN

There are rumblings about Kongu Nadu state as it is far better developed than the rest.
And Karnataka claims the Western Ghats area to this day.

We in AP also thought vivisection of our state will never occur but then Telengana is now a reality

    1. Chennai is just one city, and the Telugus there can be upset all they want since it is not going to make any difference. Worst case, Chennai becomes a joint capital of TN and the newly bifurcated AP (I am guessing Telengana doesn't want to share Hyderabad indefinitely). Kanyakumari is just a small corner of TN which is unimportant except for tourism and pearl fishing. Re Kongu Nadu, you can take it from me since I am from that region- the Kongu Nadu regionalists are a politically very weak faction. They made buffoons of themselves jumping from one alliance to the next while bringing home zero results. I'd say that TN as a state is fairly united with no bifurcation in the horizon although I am not on the side of separating TN from India :)
Regarding Telegana, I thought a separate state was on the cards ever since the break up of Madras presidency, with some political unrest, but I'll leave it to ysv since he would be knowledgeable about that topic.

      Delete
    2. Chennai is unlikely to be a bone of contention anytime soon. But if Rayalaseema region starts agitated for its own state then neighboring Chennai will surely come into play. And the factional culture is such that they are not the sharing time.
IT was only because of the obstinance of the favorite DMK villain Rajaji that Chennai remained in TN.
Anyhow as of now that possibility is faint, but as I stated with Rayalseema rumblings it may come return to the fore.

Telengana seperatists at one time were considered buffoons as well. I am from Andhra but mostly live in Hyd(now in Telengana) and haven't heard a peep about a separate state in all the years I was there.
It all happened rather suddenly in the late 2000s due to weak leadership after the death of YSR. Telengana lot saw their chance and seized it.

Kanyakumari would be a strategic and cultural loss for TN. I wouldn't recommend dismissing it so lightly.
