Kangana Ranaut is correct about India recieving independence as "bheek"
It seems Indians , leftists in particular, got their knickers in a twist because Kangana correctly pointed out independence was not a result of Indian efforts but that the British had no more capacity for ruling the country as they got badly battered in WWII despite their victory.
Perhaps bheek or alms is not the best analogy. It is more like divorcing a woman who once was once your sugar mommy and now is a money pit and wish to push her to your friend who doesnt know what he is getting himself into.
It is certainly true that hindutva brigade didnt have any freedom fighters as such apart from Savarkar. However those who think the British were intimidated by Nehru and Gandhi are living in a fantasy world. Pretty much entire Congress did was pass resolution after resolution, attending this or that meeting until Subhash Chandra Bose had enough of their nonsense.
I dont like Winston Churchill but he was correct about Hindus pretty much of all political stripes
Eventually, the Moslems will become master, because they are warriors, while the Hindus are windbags. Yes, windbags! Oh, of course, when it comes to fine speeches, skilfully balanced resolutions and legalistic castles in the air, the Hindus are real experts! They’re in their element! When it comes to business, when something must be decided on quickly, implemented, executed—here the Hindus say “pass”. Here they immediately reveal their internal flabbiness.
Of course Churchills predecessors were responsible for transforming Hindus from a race of warrior to that of windbags for their convenience as well as vastly over estimating Muslim martial abilities. All that aside he is not wrong about Hindu fondness for bloviating. Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya once gave a speech for 3 hours and then apologized for his brevity. VK Menon filibustered the UN for 12 hours regarding Kashmir which in the end turned out to be redundant. Hindus then as now are all talk and no action. To think that this lot achieved independence on their own is rather unrealistic unless their plan was to induce narcolepsy in their enemy and quietly airlift out of the country.
What i find so comical about the left is that they actually believe they had effective "Freedom fighters" on their side. Even their revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh didnt achieve anything aside from their ethnic vendettas and failed operations.
Most Indian freedom fighters contribution to independence is not even zero but likely negative. They actively supported recruitment of Indians for the British to fight their wars even as Indians did not benefit in anyway. Rajaji , despite his casteist flaws, saw it for the sham that it was and called out Gandhi's fraudulent pacifism.
The sooner Indians come to terms with reality that Hitler and Tojo did more for them(Tojo intentionally, Hitler unintentionally) than Nehru, Gandhi, Bhagat Singh they can stop retreating into castles of fantasy and become adults.
Of course as for her claim that real freedom was achieved in 2014- that is a pathetic joke coming from a biased and generally ignorant political activist. But the other part remains accurate
Hi YSV,
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the latest ban of meat in public places in Ahmadabad. How brain dead these guys are.
cant say im surprised. It is gujarat after all. However keep in mind Gujarat though a dry state had one of the highest percentage of alcohol consumption . Similar thing maybe at work here.
DeleteI knew Gujaratis who couldnt pass by a butchers shop without gagging much to the amusement of those inside. Of course there are many communities like this. But Gujs and Marwaris were the most dramatic in their vegetarianism.
Hi YSV, came across a wikipedia article which states that the old name of Ahmadabad as Ashaval or Ashapalli. Asha-palli struck me. Do you think this "palli" has any thing to do with telugu "palli".
ReplyDeleteAsko Parpola and TN Southworth have investigated the Western regions of Sindh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and found many Dravidian suffixes for place names. Palli and vada being among them. This is attributed to the Dravidian presence in those regions in ancient times to the era corresponding to the beginning of Gupta period.
Deletehttps://books.google.ae/books?id=NDRRNGj17EMC&pg=PA254&lpg=PA254&dq=dravidian+place+names+gujarat+palli&source=bl&ots=w-hNLu42jl&sig=ACfU3U2-b-VeGmjI4hsDMdRq0t8GNsW9eQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjOz4qSnqn0AhV0SPEDHY1OCywQ6AF6BAgGEAM#v=onepage&q=dravidian%20place%20names%20gujarat%20palli&f=false
However there should a qualifier to this theory- Kannada speaking dynasties such as Rashtrakutas and Chalukyas invaded and ruled these regions for hundreds of years. It is possible they may have named many places in Kannada (who also use "palli") .
Hi YSV,
ReplyDeleteI was checking for data on consanguineous marriages in Andhra and found out this paper. Although it is a survey but the inbreeding is just too big in Andhra. Was expecting it to be around 16-19 but it is too big than my expecations.
Looks like we are f**d.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/337799542_Has_the_long-predicted_decline_in_consanguineous_marriage_in_India_occurred
Strangely in the south Kerala has managed to have lesser percentage.
Look at this below doc page 12 and Effects section. The study is old but he mentions that natural selection could eliminate recessive genes. Is that even possible.
https://www.ias.ac.in/article/fulltext/jgen/058/03/0387-0401
expecting it to be around 16-19 but it is too big than my expecations.
DeleteLooks like we are f**d."
I blame casteism and dowry for this phenomena. On one hand extreme insularity when it comes to caste naturally makes one prefer those you know. Now even if a community such as Pantula Kapu prefers a groom or bride from its own community and does this for generations, even if they are not cousins or uncle niece, at some point they will be related to each by smaller and smaller degrees. This hyper splintering of castes in AP and Telangana makes the situation even worse
Of course AP is notorious for large dowries, the families think the best way to avoid that hassle is to simply them off to a cousin or an uncle.
Kerala is a cultural outlier not just in the south but India in particular.
I had always advocated to Telugus to give their gene pool a good kick in the pants by marrying out of state or even out of country if possible.
yup hypersplintering of castes is a problem. Now a days I am seeing some consolidation during marriages being attempted but not sure how much of it is working.
DeleteWas looking through pakistani data and it was 70% consanguineous marriages there. Not sure how reliable these surveys or data is but it is just too high.
Kapu itself is splintered into 5 to 10 sub castes (depending on how you count them) . Best way to consolidate society is to first get sub castes marry out side of the group and then consider marrying outside of the group.
DeleteProblem is there is no ideology of great personality to encourage social cohesion
In the past the Lingayat and Jain movement was rather like Sikh revolution which managed to bring all castes together and this was the basis for egalitarianism in Kakatiya society
Later on Krishna Deva Raya managed to bring Balija, Kapu, Yadava , Tulu under the Balija group . He could manage to do this because his mother was Balija and father was Tulu. And these communities were involved in trade across southern Indian as well as mercenary activity. Hence consolidating them made sense from social and security standpoint.
Islam allows for cousin marriages and rural areas of Pakistan do practice a great deal though the more urban people in Karachi, Islamabad etc prefer not to.
DeleteAlso check the NFHS -5 survey for AP. The waist to hip ratio is very discouraging. Looks like people are just getting fat.
ReplyDeleteNot just AP but all over India people tend to have wider waists or pot bellies. Heck even fit people with considerable stamina have it!
DeleteThe obvious culprit is carbs. Indians simply eat too much of it. Add to this their penchant for sugar(Indian tea has been described as liquid halwa) , snacks such as samosa, bajji, pakora, bonda, sweets etc and you have a glycemic disaster.
Now chapati and naan is better than rice , but really not a whole lot. The problem is polished white rice which our people dowse with ghee and the results are there for all to see. Brown rice is actually healthy but we dont care for it.
Will Telanganga cuisine show the way? Their traditional fare which has been neglected, such as raggi mudda , jonna rotti etc is much healthier than Andhra foods. An added advantage is that not much irrigation is required to grow these.
With one shot we can solve farmers woes and our collective health!
Agree ragi and jonna should be encouraged over rice. Coastal andhra does not have jonna but people eat ragi in form of ambali (ragi malt). I have observed rayalseema and karnataka people also have ragi mudda and jonna rotti.
ReplyDeleteI completely switched to ambali in the night few years back. Feels good and lighter in the stomach.
Kerala guys eat brown rice. Switching to these foods will decrease the need for large irrigation projects too. I feel the public distribution system should the lead the way here.
Even pesarattu or menapattu with less oil are prefarable over rice. Do you know of a dish made with Thelagapindi (pulp of sesame seeds after oil is extracted). It is made in uttarandhra region and pretty protein dense. Though now less people eat it.
DeleteI gave up rice almost completely 15 years ago, never looked back apart from the occasional biryani once very month or so haha.
DeleteWhat is common to large parts of Karnataka, Telangana and Rayalseema is that they are very arid regions not conducive to growing rice but rather these millet crops.
Even in Andhra there was more of a millet culture before Arthur Cotton with his irrigation and dam works made the state into the rice bowls. There are about 4000 statues of him and he is even worshipped in some communities during Sankranti!
I love pesrattu but its not so much fun without moderate amounts of oil lol. I did not know about thelagapindi. Have to check it out.
"I feel the public distribution system should the lead the way here."
DeleteI prefer a demand based approach. The problem is that millets such as jonne, raggi are considerd a poor mans food. And rice has a prestige and psychological foundation which is hard to displace.
However this is more in rural areas. Urban people are less stuck in these ways. Telangana cuisine restaurants seem to be popular . Just as Mexican food was considered peasant food in U.S until it was popularized by middle and upper class whites, similarly the more urbane can push millets forward and the rural people can follow suit.
It seems you deleted that retarded post wher you thought I was some Tamil dude called Iniyavel LOL.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about this 100 years of peace business coming from Pakistan? Do you think they will go back to their old ways after their economy recovers?
Your implication that these feelers from Pakistan are due to its grave economic concerns is accurate. However even regarding this dramatic offfer there was this caveat as per Times of India
Delete“provided there is progress in the talks” between the two countries.
This is very vague and unquantifiable. Any peace offer with caveats is just business as usual esp in the contexts of India- pakistan , Israel- Palestine rivalries.
In these situations, peace can come only with surrender of one nation either by military ,economic or other means.
Pakistan is feeling tremendous economic woes not least due to the stupidity and the geopolitical hubris of Imran Khanwhich is surprising since was a cosmopolitan playboy and celebrity straddling various cultures one would assume he would know the ways of the world.
But clearly it is not feeling enough for a total surrender i.e peace without caveats. That is because Modi has also managed to mangle India's economic prospects. If India was in a much stronger economic position as well as geopolitical ties with GCC (which Modi managed to strengthen and then wreck in that order) then Pakistan would make meaningful gestures
However if pakistan's economy to take off, it would mean the Pakistan military cede much of its ill gotten gains to the Pakistani people. And China would forgive much of Pakistans debts incurred in infrastructure projects , neither of these are likely to happen any time soon.
It would be ideal if India can give them a loan with a low interest rate, with a written agreement that Pakistan forever drops the Kashmir agenda. That's a true win-win situation, unlike belt and road
DeleteAround 10 to 15 years ago Pakistani society was rather fragmented on ethnic and sectarian lines and at loggerheads and hatred of India /situation in Kashmir was a potent and reliable call for unity . However these days there is considerable inter marriage between all ethnic groups . Hence there is far more sense of national unity than there used to be which resulted in fewer tensions and rivalries.
DeleteFrom my conversations with both educated and urbane Punjabis and Sindhis and peasant Pushtun cab drivers, they really dont seem to have much ill will towards India . Even they laugh at the hysterically anti India Lahore film industry(Lollywood!).
They are united however in contempt and hatred at their own kleptocratic and incompetent establishment which constantly gets them in economic and geopolitical hot water. In this they have much in common with the people of Iran.
The real ruler of Pakistan is the military and has been since the days of Zia ul haque atleast. They are not just a state within a state but they are the State.
Written agreements are worthless if they dont abide the spirit of the letter but only stick to the word which are malleable. Unless training camps are destroyed, siezed arms and handcuffed terrorists delivered to the Indian government as well as draw down of troops from the Kashmir border , no agreement will do any good.
I personally think that Pakistan is a sideshow for the most part. The only reason I am a hardliner on them is because if you give an inch they take a mile and will lead to further terrorist attacks.
Apart from this I hope BJP types are not serious about Akhand Bharat scenarios . Military spending against Pakistan is a huge opportunity cost which a poor country like India cant afford and it is best utilized on education , infrastructure, sanitation, internal security, expanding and modernizing court systems, medicine and the like
However I am afraid from the Indian side they are not interested in peace either. Because as Gandhi once pointed out - Indians are quick to adopt the vices of the West but slow to grasp its virtues. Hence India has developed its own MIC without the attendant American competency and is in the grips of the unholy alliance of contractors and the military buying all sorts of expensive and useless weapons which are intended less for security but to line the pockets of all involved parties.
We are still the aggrieved party in this dispute but I dont think for too long..
I always thought India's defence spending follows Reagan's model. Reagan started a war of attrition with the soviets, forcing them to spend beyond what they could afford (given their 70s economic slump) on defense thus leading to their collapse.
DeleteI thought that too. But I realized there are some errors in that thinking. The first is that India is basing its strategy on a falsehood. Reagan was routinely bamboozled by his advisors in the Pentagon and the CIA on the strength of the Russian military. It was all junk ! Heck even they couldnt manage economy of scale for their junk.
DeleteSure some military spending was neccesary to push the Soviets into insolvency but not to that amount. The average Russian saw the writing on the wall even in the early 80s.
India is no U.SA and Pakistan is no Soviet Union. Unlike India , U.S procured its weapons from local manufactureres and would even sell its surplus to foriegn nations which helped the economy considerably. India purchases foreign weapons spending precious gold reserves needed for a rainy day (or rather Crowny day).
Anyhow Pakistan is a client state of China so they are really competing with China. Now I dont think the Chinese military is battle ready (One child policy has led to a very risk averse culture as recruitment is rapidly dwindling) but they have the financial clout to outspend India and hence fund Pakistan in this regard if neccessary.
I probably sound like an ignoramus asking this, but is it impossible to build a border wall between our Kashmir and PoK? Israel built a similar one along the border with west bank...
DeleteIsrael /West Bank is mostly flat desert area with a few hills here and there.
Deletekashmir /PoK is far more challenging terrain of course. This requires a more high tech approach such as drones, remote sensing and the like but sometimes the weather there is so severe that these are not quite effective.
India's border wall with Bangladesh was challenging to construct but again it was mostly flatland. I think the main difficulties was the wall traversing swamps and the like.
Do you think this whole Ukraine crisis is cooked up by Biden's team to improve his low ratings?
ReplyDeleteThis Ukraine thing has been an unholy mess on and off since the CIA sponsored colored revolutions since 2004.
DeleteTraditionally NATO and the Russian sphere corresponded roughly to the Wester(Catholic ,Protestant) and Orthodox schisms of Christianity respectively. Stalin was clever enough to see this and exploit Orthodox grievances even if Lenin wasnt.
Hence the average westerner supports Catholic Poland and Catholic/Protestant Hungary's inclusion in NATO but not Ukraine as that comes under Russian orbit.
cheerleaders for war against Russia were incredibly frustrated during 2016 to 2020. These guys helped put Biden in office and they now want some consideration. I doubt Biden himself is too interested or even has much say in the matter. He did manage to override everyone on Afghanistan (to his credit I must say despite various fiascoes accompanying it) but he has shot his load there so to speak.
Now if Biden wants to jump into this hornets nest to boost his midterm prospects since the economy, 'voting rights'(blank check to commit electoral fraud) and vaccine mandates are all in crapper, then he is taking an incredibly risky gambit. War weariness among the populace crosses party lines. The average person is least concerned about Russia does in its own backyard(as they see it) , hence even if Biden manages to deter Russian incursions by a stand off or even hot clashes it wont much improve his poll numbers. OTOH if there is continuing warfare low intensity but moving the Doomsday clock closer to midnight, it is lights out for th party for atleast two Presidential terms.
It is high risk and low reward.
I don't think Biden's colleagues and advisors are a talented bunch and they may have encouraged Biden to give the green light to Zelenskiy to recapture Donbass from the rebels. Russian intelligence could have gotten wind of this and reacted by moving their troops close to the border.

DeleteThey are bright and talented in the very narrow sense that they find creative ways to do the bidding of the MIC. Or atleast used to be , nowadays they arent even bothering with slick propaganda courtesy of Hollywood, media and requisite academics. All that magic is gone.
Nowadays it is - "Putin fascist , Russia bad grr", it is just that crude level.
I dont wish to delve in that hornets nest too much as it is a celebration of minor false flags, fake news, diversions and propaganda from both sides desinged to obfuscate and confuse .
But what I do find amusing is that Zelensky is Jewish and he is presiding over an area that was Khazar territory (the second major Jewish kingdom since the destruction of ancient Israel , after Yemen) as well as the stomping ground of the Mossad. Of course Khazars were destroyed by Russians and here we have another Russian autocrat breathing down the neck of a neo Khazar jewish leader.
Surprisingly the alt right which often salivates over any Jewish angle in any conflict hasnt obsessed over this.
"Surprisingly the alt right which often salivates over any Jewish angle in any conflict hasnt obsessed over this"
DeleteBtw Antony Blinken and Victoria Nuland are also Jewish. It's interesting that the anti-russia faction in Ukraine has significant neo-nazi ties
Btw do you buy this theory that Ashkenazi Jews are descendants of the khazars? It's often been called an antisemitic canard
DeleteThese Jews are neocon holdovers from the Bush/Clinton era including Russian warhawks in the media such as Bill Krystol , Jennifer Rubin, Jonah Goldberg, John Podhoretz et al.
DeleteThis represents a rift between Ashkenazi and Jews from the Slavic world to this day. Milo Yiannopolous a Jew from the Orthodox world has no issues with Russia at all. The Russians in Brighton beach in New York are mostly Jews and have no ill will towards Russia , neither do the large Russian population in Israel(which jumpstarted its tech revolution).
"It's interesting that the anti-russia faction in Ukraine has significant neo-nazi ties"
Politics makes bizarro world bed fellows lol. Here you have alt right pro Putin spergs making prop Hitler memes who are opposed by neo Nazis, and here you have a jewish PM aided by influential Jews in U.S supporting (implicitly) the same skin heads.
Just chaos and confusion . It is why I prefer not to care too much about these conflicts with these meta levels. It mangles your intellect and damages your psyche.
Lebanon was yet another example of these weird nonsensical shifting alliances with Israel one day supporting Maronites, next day Maronites support Hezbollah. Israel invades southern Lebanon to remove PLO camps but aids Hamas to undermine West Bank Palestinians and placating Iranians to undermine Saddam while its benefactor U.S is doing the opposite. meanwhile the Druze playing all sides . It is enough to tear your hair out.
"Btw do you buy this theory that Ashkenazi Jews are descendants of the khazars? It's often been called an antisemitic canard"
DeleteI dont as the genetic evidence for this is inconclusive at best. Khazars are described as pretty much what Central Asians look like today- a combination of Nordic and Mongolic types. They were a federation rather than a race encompassing many diverse peoples.
Many Ashkenazi do not all that different from the Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. I am not talking about those in Israel who are mixed with Arabic Jews but people like Ben Stiller ,Sarah Silverman or Adam Sandler. Even blond Barbara Streisand looks more like a blond Palestinian woman rather than a blond German.
Sometimes people ignore the very obvious evidence.
I knew Milo was Jewish, but not that he was Orthodox. And he's openly gay and had even professed a kind of sympathy towards pedophilia.
DeleteIt's interesting that Russian Jews have contributed to the tech field. Probably a result of the high standards of math and science education from Soviet times.
Yianopolous is a Greek Orthodox name. I think he is mixed.
DeleteRegarding the pedophilia- that was actually deliberately mangled by the media to get him kicked off , even as you have trans and occasionally lesbian(though not so much gay) people explicitly advocating for it
What he stated was that he was molested at age 14 by a distinguished man and at that age many boys consider that to be an honor and dont look at it that way. He himself was flattered by the attention. But he reiterated that it was wrong due to the power differential in not just the age but also the authority gap.
Russian education is lot like IIT , it fosters a very technical problem solving environment but not much emphasis on creativity.
Hence IITs are not known to be pioneers but very competent CTOs , CIOs and the like. Example is Parag Agarwal who due to his background would not be able to create Twitter but can become the CEO rising through the ranks of software engineer and CTO under Jack Dorsey
Similarly Russian Jews provided much needed technical know in scale for the how to the idea men , entrepreneurs and pioneers of Israels budding Silicon Valley who were usually Ashkenazi
The Russian Israeli business tycoons in general tend to have rather shady backgrounds!
I read somewhere that the pedophilia stuff was a planned attack piece on Milo orchestrated by conservatives of the never Trump camp.
DeleteMilo himself has mentioned that he attended parties where he saw underage boys being pumped with sedative drugs and taken advantage of by older men. I mean what was he doing in a place like that and why didn't he call the police?
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIf it was LA or DC especially , the police have ways of making evidence and charges disappear. The LA police is thoroughly compromised by Hollywood while the DC police see little upside to arresting politicians on even minor infractions such as drunk driving when they can be bought off or threatened.
DeleteThe difference between American and Indian police and judicial corruption is most Americans are not affected directly by it with attendance incompetence, bribery or excessive force. There are provisions and safeguards for the rights of the average person. However there are even more provisions for influential people.
There is some ritual as well as medical aspect to raping a child especially male as well as killing them - Adrenochrome . Apparently there is a belief that the adrenaline in the child when he is about to die is most potent and the consumption /bathing in the blood prolongs longevity and youth.
DeleteFor those in upper echelons of society who participate in this sort of thing, it has little to do with sexuality itself , hence being gay ,straight or even pedo plays little role in their decision.
I almost want to beleive in a god who would inflict justice on these people.
DeleteMy problem with religion specifically Abrahamic religions and also Bhakti mode of Hinduism is the emphasis of savior archetype whether in human or divine form which makes people passive and lacking in any sense of iniative.
DeleteI am of the notion that god helps those who help themselves. or as the Romans said -Fortune favors the audacious.
While it is emotionally satisfying to engage in a vigilate rampage , real meaningful change will become when not even a majority but a critical minority awaken from their stupor and overhaul the system. And in the process make a ghastly example of a few as a warning to many others. As of now most of these vermin will get away with what they are doing. That sort of thing is what creates athiests.
There was a case involving pedophilia which cast a wide net over pretty much all the muckety mucks of Belgian society. The judge who had connections to one of the pedophiles gave relatively light sentence to most and dismissed charges on one of them. This was too much for even the jaded Belgians who took to the streets in numbers upto 300,000 in the "White revolution"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Dutroux
If this sort of thing happens in western country , god knows what occurs in India. Before Vadakayil fans chime in and state that subjects of Bharatmata are pure and decent and this is simply a Western perversion , i myself have been the target of lust at age 9-14 of watchmen, doctors, neighborhood uncles , heck even a nasty 55 year old hag (not the porno sexy step mom Brazzers fantasy Im afraid) as were many of my friends. Nothing happened apart from unwanted caressing and hugging which went on for a little too long but we were street smart and knew something was not quite right. A couple of these were caught after I moved out. One was simply killed by the father of the victim and other fled to god knows where.
Let us not forget that some states like Rajasthan are quite comfortable with marrying off (and consummating) 12 year old girls which to Lokmanya Tilak was practically an old maid!
If Milo did do that /or rather didnt do anything it is not a good look for him at all. It is a disgrace. Now I am not defending Milo in this regard but these types of parties are sadly way too common in Hollywood and among various powerful peoples in all fields. He probably witnessed a lot of powerful people and was rather terrified. It doesnt exactly cover him in glory but consider the media itself wasnt too terribly interested in Epstein/Maxwell involvement in child sex rings despite overwhelming evidence. He like many others decided that discretion is the better part of valor. Again it doesnt make him the good guy but to single him out is absurd when such things are de regieu
DeleteAs an atheist, I find some religious values important such as spirituality, morals, free will and the sanctity of human life but also superstitions like astrology, fatalism etc. Rather than the saviour archetype, it is these superstitions that turned me against religion.
Delete"Americans are not affected directly by it with attendance incompetence, bribery or excessive force. "
DeleteI wouldn't be so sure. Remember Rodney King?
"I wouldn't be so sure. Remember Rodney King?"
DeleteAnd George Floyd but these are outliers. Outliers were caught on camera but still and we all saw the consequences of this. The fact that public reaction was so inflamed across racial lines shows that the average public expects better. Of course when blacks started rioting and arson, the average public quickly soured on the cause.
What blacks generally undergo with the police are minor humiliations such as questions as what they are doing, where are they going which they maybe less likely to ask whites or Asians.
As for the stats which state that blacks are 5 times more likely to be incarcerated at the rate of whites , that is true but there are more likely to be combative during a routine traffic stop, resist arrest, skip bail, break the terms of parole/probation and hence the judges tend to throw the book at them.
Oh I have no sympathy for George Floyd or the overreaction of defunding the police. BLM is a mafia in the true sense because corporations are paying them protection money to be left alone.
DeleteHowever in the early 90s when the Rodney King riots happened, it appears that the LA police were notoriously corrupt. The tragedy of it all was that OJ Simpson got away with his crime because black jurors believed (wrongly) that the LA cops tampered with the evidence. This despite him being on good terms with the LAPD.
Well you know my views about LA police. And yes the notoriety of the LA police contributed to the acquittal of OJ.
DeleteFunny piece of trivia about OJ: he was the original choice for the title role of Terminator before it went to Arnold. But James Cameron decided that he looked too nice and no one would buy him as a humanoid killer lol.
So the role went to a governor from California instead of a convict from California :)
Delete"So the role went to a governor from California instead of a convict from California :)"
Deletelol. Another thing about OJ-he really should have looked into the society and friend circle that Nicole Brown belonged to before he decided to marry her. She belonged to a rather decadent crowd in an affluent suburb called Brentwood. A "brentwood hello" was code for oral sex which apparently even married people would engage with casual acquaitances. This was too much for OJ and his middle class values and the fact that her new boyfriend was a white guy made him snap. I am not blaming the victim but rather the opposite, people should really check up on their prospective spouses families and friends before tying the knot. It can save everyone a world of trouble. Why do they forget marriage is not just a union between individuals but communities.
Also amusing was the defense teams fail in allowing a critical number of black women in the jury pool assuming that they would punish OJ for marrying a white woman. But in reality black women generally believe white women are "stealing " their high quality men. And this case they apparently believed she got what was coming.
I remember watching an episode of sex and the city where a black woman got catty and territorial with Samantha Jones because Samantha (who is white) dated her brother (a rapper). The series has a theme of portraying white women as lusting after studly black men lol.
DeleteI suppose this type of stupid take was inevitable. Though doing an Ctrl F for Khazar doesnt yield anything. I guess that topic is a bridge too far when it comes to Ukraine and Jewish establishment.

The guy who wrote this seems to be a lunatic.
If Zelensky really cared about his Jewish heritage, he'd do something about the Azov battalion. I am guessing this armchair geopolitical analyst knows nothing about the realities of the situation.
DeleteIf he knows about it, he will just probably either hand wave it away or publish another 5000 word scribe about how some Zionists collaborated with the Nazis (to smuggle Jews out of Europe) and somehow tie that to the current scenario.
DeleteWe are dealing with a people who over the past week did the following
1) Ban Russian cats from World Cat Federation
2) Postponed a Dostoeyevsky symposium in Milan only because of the authors nationality
3) Fired a Russian conductor from an orchestra
4) Issued bomb threats to Russian restaurants and other establishments
5) Poured Stolichnaya vodka into the drainage (never mind it is made in Latvia and Luxemburg)
Apart from cheering on state sanctions cutting off Russian people from the financial world by cancelling Visa, Mastercard, Google and Apple Pay as well as Swift transfer system

You may have noticed over the years that a certain poster was very emotionally invested in Middle eastern and other geopolitics even as he admitted to not leaving his house for long periods of time(even before the pandemic) . And we have seen the result .What is show to us on newsmedia is really a hall of mirrors. Of course the alternative to this is not crackpot conspiracy sites. Anymore than the cure for constipation is diahrrea. it is best have some basic facts and then proceed by intuition and common sense than whatever is the narrative du jour.
Apart from this comment above I urged all and him in particular to excercize caution when online and avoid political sites which are little more than cyber sewers or stop worrying about Syria ,Iran or Russia or whathaveyou and get their own affairs in order. To this end I warned them not to detach from the real world. Guess that fell on deaf ears in one case anyway.
I also had some flat earth people commenting here as well. I always wondered about these types. The reality is that most people in the ancient and medeival world, atleast those civilizations with seafaring heritage knew that the earth was a sphere.
The online world created extreme detachment from everyday life, cloistered and huddled as they tend to be indoors in front of a screen. Wiithout one foot in the real world, they lose touch with reality and imagine they are trans, non binary ,alien , diferent race and what have as if these like avatars/skins in a game. Not to mention google account avatars to comment under different people with varying personalities!
There are legion of these characters out there just waiting to be harnessed and controlled by people/institutions with nefarious designs.
Agreed that one should know when to go offline and get a breath of fresh air.
Deletere Russia I remember watching a video by Peter Hitchens (brother of late Christopher Hitchens) where he came up with a theory that Russia was helping Syria as a matter of principle. He sees the US as an irresponsible power which gets into unnecessary wars, violates the sovereignty of a bunch of nations and creates chaos all around. The Christian America-skeptic Peter is quite a contrast to his atheist Americophilic brother.
The Iraq war was yet another example of these crazy alliances. A lot of secular/athiest individuals in the military establishment and the media including Christopher Hitchens were gaga over the Iraq war and made common cause with evangelical Bush and his fervently religious base.
DeleteAll the while the devout Christian Peter Hitchens was warning against the same military intervention by a Christian nation against a Muslim one.
Peter is not really Americaphobic but is in line with Ron Paul type of foreign policy- which is really George Washingtons policy, beware of foreign entanglements and alliances. This policy later irked France when Americans refused to aid them in their war against the British as France rendered invaluable help against the British during the American revolution.
Christopher Hitchens was initially non interventionist like many leftists but like many others of his ilk he learned to support them when it was (or percieved to be) for "just" causes.
I am also open to the possibility that the libertine gourmand and aesthete Christopher Hitchens was simply bought off as his erudition and intellect would be useful to the neocon agenda.
Damn I had a lot of respect for Christopher. If he was bought off by hawks that would diminish him in people's opinion.
DeleteI made a mistake about Peter's Americaphobia. Rather, he was sceptical about the "special relationship" between UK and the US and felt that this did not benefit the British.
Of course what I said is based on speculation and inference - he was the guy who enjoyed the good life- cuban cigars,(ultimately took his life) aged whisky, Michelin star restaurants, international travel on a regular basis and when he was in better shape-designer clothes. And his book, tv appearance and speaking gigs while lucrative could not have sustained the level of indulgence he sought.
Deleteas opposed to Peter, Christopher was also a U.S citizen and wrote a book on the "special relationship" celebrating it.
On the special relationship , what UK gets from US is mostly psychological and an ego boost. US lets them revel in colonial nostalgia with silly excursions such as the Falklands and\tagging along in Gulf wars among others(of course this is a double edged sword). However UK kept out the Vietnam war but this void was filled with Australia.Hence many American commentators themselves wondered if the special relationship should be more with Australia as they share the same breakaway from mother country and its frontier rough neck culture.
British popular culture -music, movies, comedy , tv series often gets to cut in line in the American market which I suspect not just due to linguistic affinity.
British pundits are a binary species , either viciously anti American on par with Iranian mullahs or more pro U.S than a gun toting Clint Eastwood hold a bald eagle.
Roman Polanskis adaptation of the novel The Ghost Writer based on George Bush and Tony Blair "special relationship" was a very pointed attack on both parties and the intelligence community in general. Only Polanski, despite his myriad of obvious sins, can make a movie about walking , talking and writing interesting.
Peter Hitchens also paraphrased Abraham Lincoln in bewailing Obama's election(which Christopher was gaga for) "What is to become of the last great hope on earth"
Christopher was one of the reasons the atheism movement became such a hit. Each atheist had his own motivations. Perhaps tiring of the Iraq war, Christopher Hitchens turned his attention to a new cause. Richard Dawkins is a humanist now that I think about it objectively. For Sam Harris, there is no bigger evil than Islam in the world lol.
DeleteI think Polanksi's The Pianist was the best holocaust movie ever. It left me depressed for days.
I woudnt say Christopher Hitchens was becoming a believer towards the end of his days but certainly he didnt have as much contempt for religious people as he used to . For example he took Sacha Baron Cohen to task for his mocking depiction of evangelicals(specifically tongue speaking Pentecostals) in Borat. He was not defending their faith but that it was in very poor taste of Cohen to mock them when they helped him find food shelter and provided shelter in the movie(they like many others werent in on the joke)
DeleteSam Harris criticism of Islam , whatever its flaws, brings out the fools in people such as Ben Affleck, on the panel with Bill Maher (another Islam basher),mindlessly calling him racist. As did Chris Hedges , also he comically claimed that Harris yearned from nuclear destruction of Muslim peoples which is not Harris's position at all.

But Sam Harris himself delves into hysterics . he claimed that Trumps election would lead to Armageddon when he is the only President since Gerald Ford not to have started any new wars.
My earlier diatribe against Trump was based a great deal on Harris's commentary. Lesson learnt to do my homework more.
I try to avoid movies about slavery, partition ,genocide, Holocaust etc. Not to mention books about Islamic rule such as this one which is written when Hindutvadis actually cared about scholarship and citing sources
http://voiceofdharma.org/books/tlmr/
While the tone isnt designed to inflame , the contents certainly do as they describe the horrors and degradations Hindus endured on and off under Islamic rule . The worst being the Delhi Sultanate.
The Pianist was very effective because it was based on Polanskis own experiences on the run for the Nazis. But he really exhausted that reservoir of sympathy with his later sexual depradations. The murder of his wifeSharon Tate by Charles Manson and gang is also an open book and a Joe Rogan guest provided strong circumstantial evidence that Polanski had a hand in it.
All these movies about slavery and segregation such Lincoln, Django Unchained, Twelve Years, Get Out a slave among others seem to be design to tear apart healing wounds. I am very much for free expression. But as Theodore Dalrymple says "Self expression is a right but sometimes silence is a duty". These help contribute to the polarized racial climate that exists today which was there even 10 years ago.
And then you have incredibly comical takes such as the movie "Karen" and shlock peddler Dhar Mann "life lesson stories" where a white woman steals a Playstation 5 from a black boy.

DeleteTwelve Years A Slave , Get Out *
I used to like Sam Harris and I bought his anti-islam narrative. Over time, I realized how much he was wrong, and not just about Islam. Apparently, if it weren't for Christianity we would have had internet in the middle ages. And his justification of racial profiling just because it's successful in Israel. He doesn't get that Israel is in the middle East while America is not. Every war you can name is due to religious differences, including the civil war in Sri Lanka. Bill Maher is a great comedian but a sloppy thinker. However I do agree with your view on Ben Affleck.
DeleteThe strange thing is that Ben Affleck is not a stupid person in general at all. He is a very talented writer and director , I would place his film talents above his Harvard graduate friend , Matt Damon. His affinity for Islam probably stems from his major in Occidental College which was Middle Eastern Affairs.
DeleteSome people cannot see the world apart from their specific lens, especially when they are a celebrity and sorrounded by fawning yes men (and women).
Israel doesnt really conduct strict racial profiling per se but a holistic personality analysis of which a persons ethnic origin is one consideration. And these agents are highly trained in this manner. And keep in mind Israel is a small country with one international airport. Americans do not have the human resources for their population for this approach to be feasible
"Every war you can name is due to religious differences, including the civil war in Sri Lanka. "
did he really say that? haha. Well in the Middle East for example apart from those against Israel and Shias are Iraq - Kuwait(motivated by Kuwait slant drilling and apparently Kuwaiti minister crude remarks about Iraqi women), Egypt -Yemen (ethnic hatred), Syrian civil wars(1950s , military coups) and Jordan's slaughter of Palestinians(they planning to overthrow the king). Much conflict was nationalistic rather than about religion which reared its unwelcome head in the late 1970s onwards thanks to Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Maronite militias, Iranian revolution, increased Orthodox Jewish voice in Israels process etc.
The genesis of the SL civil war was jobs and education with a strong ethnic animus. The hate filled Buddhist monks poured more gasoline on the embers but to paraphrase Billy Joel - they didnt start the fire.
In his book The End of Faith he produces a huge list of modern conflicts and points out the different religions of the adversaries to make the point that religion is the causus belli.

Regarding all these mysterious lights and alien appearances, I am in line with Carl Jungs theory that these are manifestations of the collective unconsciousness. In the past people saw visions of angels, in the secular scientific age , it is aliens, ufos etc
DeleteKeep in mind all these alien UFO sightings started off after the threat of nuclear war commenced in the late 40s/50s.
What's strange is that a serious news media outlet is reporting on this in the first place
DeleteSerious outlets started reporting on this as early as 2018 . Heck Trump himself expressed an interest in this phenomenon. It went nowhere due to the Russia distraction and later COVID.
DeleteIt was easier to control dissemination of these images and videos in the past, not so much anymore.
Whatever these are , we live in interesting times.
