I love it!

The only time when these people took part in anything that can be called as noble and heroic was during rule of 'Zunbils', a Hindu clan who ruled what is now Pashtun country and heroically defeated two centuries of Arab onslaughts. (7th, 8th and 9th centuries)

Turks destroyed this vast Hindu kingdom in 870 AD but until 963 AD, Muslim Turks failed to conquer Pashtun country. Between 963-988 AD, entire Pashtun country was brought under Islamic rule.

When Prithviraj fought Ghori, large number of Afghans went and joined army of Prithviraj! Most likely Hindu Afghans who wanted to free Gandhara.

Are there any Hindu Pashtuns today?

Some Hindu castes in North India have Pashtun origin - Chitpavan, Mohyal, Kamboh and Rohilla Rajput.

Most likely they too must have met the same fate of Kashmiri Pandits.

It is these ""Hindu Afghans"" who are real heroes. With the arrival of the British the Saka origin myth gained momentum(it was believed that Central Asians were more martial than Indians).
Some Saka enthusiasts go so far as to claim Buddha for themselves on the flimsy pretext that he was tall and light skinned. Errr.. it is not unlikely that northern India especially needed to import such a physical type!
Not to mention some donkey etymology connecting Sakya(Buddhas clan) and Saka.
What's sad is that even Koenraad Elst somewhat entertains this silly notion of Buddha having Saka lineage.

Actually Buddha and CGM claim ancestry from Ikshavaku and both hailed from the Licchavi confederacy.ysv_raohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06078517736366792665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2292201847928976780.post-9300184250257946322015-04-23T19:15:26.323+01:002015-04-23T19:15:26.323+01:00I was aware of this claim some time. it is the usu...I was aware of this claim some time. it is the usual appropriation of famous individuals by this or that caste.

Their details are at best circumstantial evidence. They give a list of Jat castes which sound like Maurya and based on that they make the deduction that CGM was one of theirs. Hold on a minute, they do not ascertain how old those castes really are and I suspect they are not terribly interested in doing so as it throw a splash of cold water on their claims.
It is quite possible that these clans of Jats named themselves for the Mauryas or some ethnic group associated with the Mauryas married into the Jats.

They claim that according to the Mahavamsa

"Mauryanam Khattyanam vamsha jata".

THe Mauryas were Kshatriyas of a Maurya dynasty. Never mind it contradicts their own earlier claim that they were vaishyas and remember that was the basis for their claim that CGM was not a bonafide Kshatriya

And I checked the page number on the Geiger translation of the Mahavamsa they provided, Here is whats written about CGM

Then did Canaka appoint a glorious youth known by the name Chandagupta as king all over Jambudvipa, born of a noble clan ,the
moriyas when filled with bitter hate, had slain the ninth Dhananda

I couldn't find the original Sanskrit by nothing in the translation about Mauryas being a Jat Vamsha.

In short their references are most likely fraudulent!ysv_raohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06078517736366792665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2292201847928976780.post-88212112607471755402015-04-23T16:06:59.987+01:002015-04-23T16:06:59.987+01:00Sagar, I agree that Chandragupta cannot be a Jat b...Sagar, I agree that Chandragupta cannot be a Jat because Jats came later of Iranic extraction.
